We were really looking forward to taking our daughter and, soon to be, son in law to Opuz for a Saturday night celebration meal We were warmly greeted, seated, drinking and tucking into our scrummy platter when the spell was broken. A man with a tripod and camera set up shop facing through our area to further back in the restaurant. This was irritating enough. Soon after loud brash music boomed out accompanied by a feathered scantilly clad 'dancer'. Well that put us right off our meal. Talk about intrusive. Completely shattered the ambience. We asked a waitress 'just what is going on and how long this would last. She said about an hour. We asked to speak to the manager. The waitress spoke to the manager who dismissed her and ignored our request. Having watched this happen I again requested to speak to the manager, my wife was really annoyed, angry. The manager reluctantly came over. My wife quizzed him. Why was this spectacle not mentioned neither when she booked the the table or when we arrived. He was far from apologetic and brushed her off with some limp excuses. Twice more tacky dancers, the last one a fire eater, 'performed before we had finished our by now rather spoilt family meal. My wife was seething. We paid up and left collaring the manager on the way out. Still no apology, no compensation, we paid in full. Don't get me wrong we are not prudish but it would have been polite to inform us, customers, prior to our meal what was planned for the evening. It came as a total surprise and not a good one. The food was excellent but our evening was totally spoilt.I advise potential customers to check before committing especially those with young families. Alpha males will no doubt enjoy the seedy 'lap dancing' spectacle. It is not suitable for the fairer sex...Obviously I don't recommend and doubt we'll return unless we receive a full apology and some form of compensation
Visited Opuz in Wokingham last night, the food was very bland a tasteless, it looked nice but had no flavour. We didn’t even have the basics salt and pepper on the table. We never got asked if we needed more drinks, poor Service, considering it’s only just opened. Very expensive for tasteless food.
I’m sat in the Hemel Hempstead branch and have been here since 4pm and it’s now 6.50pm. I was really excited as it’s my birthday today and my family and friends had planned a surprise. It took almost half an hour to get drinks then the starters eventually came at 5.15pm. Other tables were served, ate and left. The mains did not come out until 6.48pm and all the food was cold. I asked for the manager and his customer service was attrocious, trying to blame my friends who went to top up the parking meter for why the food was late. The manager has taken the food away to redo but now I am afraid of what will happen to the food before it comes out. Not happy at all. They have ruined my birthday!Really rude, condescending manager who went away rearranged the cold food and brought it back. He made no effort to salvage the situation. Safe to say I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone for anything at any time!
