Disappointing Experience with Gift Voucher

I received a gift voucher from my son for Christmas to create a photo book of my solo adventures this year, including Borneo. I needed to finish the book by midnight last night to benefit from a 50% off promotion. Everything seemed fine as I created my book on my phone. However, when I went to pay, I found no option to enter my gift voucher code. I inquired through the AI chat, only to be told that only one promo code can be applied! My gift voucher is not a promo code; it’s a monetary gift of £50! This feels like a scam, as I now have to pay an additional £30 out of my own pocket to complete my book. I attempted to contact the AI chat again for an email address, but received a poor response instead. This was my first experience, and I won’t be using this service again or recommending it to anyone.

Misleading VAT Information

The website claims that VAT is included in their pricing, which is stated clearly on their main page. Prices are listed in Euro for Ireland. After ordering prints and paying the listed price plus delivery, which supposedly included VAT, I was charged VAT again by the delivery service to Ireland. While I understand that VAT rates can vary, this practice has been noted by other reviewers as well. It seems they lack transparency and could be seen as deceptive. It's misleading to use a local domain and assert that VAT is included without being upfront about it. They could easily clarify their policies instead of hiding behind fine print.

Don’t be fooled by their .ie website

Don’t be fooled by their .ie website. I ordered a personalised calendar, paid steep postage charge and then without any prior indication received a notice from dpd saying I had customs charges to pay before delivery. I won’t be using photobox again.

Avoid in Ireland!!!

Photobox.ie clearly states VAT included on their main page when I click on it. Prices are in Euro as it's to Ireland. Ordered the prints and payed the price plus delivery which clearly includes the VAT as no adjustment was made and no VAT removed. Then was subsequently charged VAT again by the delivery company DPD to Ireland. I'm well aware the VAT rate is different but so are they. As other reviewers have stated and warned they continue this practice. Clearly they are not transparent and thus a scam. In my opinion it is not honest to use .ie on the website and claim on it VAT included. It would be so easy be open about it or change their practice and not hid behind some small print that I'm sure exists somewhere.

Good product but such a pity they…

Good product but such a pity they choose terrible delivery partners! I spent a long time preparing a photobook and ordered on 30 Nov for 11 December delivery. I was notified to day say that parcel will be delayed and to get in touch if not received within 5 working days of original delivery date, I have done this twice but have just been given a customer query number! I am not optimistic about receiving this package before Christmas now despite efforts to avoid all this hassle. Photobox had been such a good service before but last year book the photobook arrived after Christmas despite ordering well in advance of Christmas delivery deadline! Won’t be ordering from here again!

Website crashes after spending lots of time making product and don’t deliver on time - time wasters

I have made someChristmas calendars and a photo book and I’ve experienced problems with all of these items. With Both calendars, I had spent ages uploading the photos and organising them into order and right at the end the website just froze. I couldn’t click out of what I was doing or undo/go back or forwards. It wouldn’t unfreeze and I lost both calendars. It hadn’t saved either time. I had to start from scratch. All in all wasting about an hour of my time. Which is very tight around Christmas. With the photo book I ordered it within the time frame given for Christmas delivery. They told me there would be a delay in production due to high demand (after I’d placed the order of course) but it would still arrive for Christmas and now I have just checked and there isn’t even an arrival date given, the original delayed date of 20/12 has been crossed out. It hasn’t been posted. So I don’t think it will come in time. I’m so gutted as this was a gift for my son to remember a special day we had together this year. I won’t be using Photobox again.

Duped by the ‘.ie’ used by photoboxReading the reviews here I now know I’m…

Reading the reviews here I now know I’m just one of the majority. I ordered a photo book in time for Christmas from ‘photobox.ie’. DO NOT PRESUME THAT THIS IS PHOTOBOX IRELAND. I then received a request for duty payment t, plus handler fee plus VAT, amounting to more than 1/3 of the cost of the book. I thought the duty payment request was a scam. It’s not. Photobox are misleading Irish customers into believing they are ‘Irish’. They are not. Also the duty payment mentioned ‘perfect printing’ as a company name, so that’s why I suspected a scam. So, be aware. It will be the one and only order I will make with them. The scam starts with the ‘.ie’ they use to dupe Irish customers. Advice - avoid! Find an honest Irish company.

Ordered a photo book with guaranteed…

Ordered a photo book with guaranteed Christmas delivery. Photobox are saying Royal Mail have it, RM are saying they never received it. Tracking doesn’t even have a first scan! 17 people ahead of me in the queue for live chat this morning, it took four hours to get through, to be told to contact them on the 26th if it hasn’t arrived, and as a “gesture of goodwill they’d refund me” Not very useful when it’s a Christmas gift, and a goodwill gesture of a refund for an item I’ve not received is not a goodwill gesture, it’s literally the law. So unhelpful, I spent hours designing the book and it’s far too late to order from somewhere else now. Never again!

I ordered some Christmas cards off Photobox. After a month they hadn’t arrived and we are 5 days before Christmas. I phoned customer service and got through to Simon who couldn’t have been more unhelpful. They refused to give me a refund for the £6 I spent on shipping. When I explained to them that I shouldn’t have to pay for the delivery of an item that hasn’t arrived he was very rude and refused to escalate the issue higher. Will not be ordering from here again, they’ve ripped me off and stolen my money.

Beware customs charges - Uk company posing as Irish

I ordered photo books for Christmas from Photobox.ie assuming it was an Irish company or at least catered towards Irish customers. It turns out this is a UK company with goods dispatched from the UK. I had to pay customs charges on two photo books which were expensive enough in the first place. 80 euro total. 60 euro for 2 books with 20 euro customs charged. I am extremely disappointed and annoyed as I feel I had to pay as these were ordered as Christmas presents and I wouldn’t have time to order from somewhere else.
