We booked an Antarctic cruise with quark- penguin safari visiting South Georgia and Antarctica which we have just finished 2 days ago. It was an amazing experience and for us the trip of a lifetime.
Last year we went on our first trip with quark to the arctic (Svarlbard) which was also a 5 star trip
We were so impressed by them on that trip that we went with them again when we had the opportunity to visit Antarctica.
Their organisation is amazing. The quark expedition leaders and guides were ultra- professional, knowledgeable, skilled and also very nice
The boats we travelled on- ocean explorer and world explorer were very comfortable with the highest level of service by the staff.
On the Antarctic trip you spend quite a few days at sea. There are opportunities for lectures and talks, there are indoor and outside observation decks, lounges, very comfortable cabins.
On days when we were near land we would go out in zodiacs, either for cruises round the coast line or for landings.
If you are at all interested make enquiries- I cannot convey in these few sentences the amazing experiences that quark provided for us.
It was a great experience. St. Pierre & Miquelon, Newfoundland & l'Anse aux Meadows were on my list.The helicopter over the fjords was very special &an important part of the trip! The staff, the crew & especially the Expedition crew were totally amazing! Everyone was personable, respectful & knowledgeable! Totally amazing experience!Thank you
This was a new itinerary and just the one I wanted to follow. The expedition team made every effort to make sure we had the best experience possible. The trip itinerary was altered substantially for the beginning of the trip, and I felt that the communications from Cork were not transparent and detailed enough. That said, I understand the quirk made huge effort to make the trip successful, and the team leader made extraordinary efforts to pack in as much as possible. The expedition team has a whole was super. Several of the presentations made by three or four of the team members in particularwere outstanding. I would say the average age of the Guest roster was higher than I would’ve expected. This might be due to over emphasis on the quality of the ship and the dining as opposed to the expedition nature of the trip. I mentioned this because I think perhaps many guests were not an expecting an expedition oriented trip. All in all well done.
When the weather didn't cooperate with Plan A, Quark pivoted to provide us with Plan B, that was as exciting, interesting as as fun as I imagine Plan A would have been. The speed with which they changed plans was quite astonishing! The experts on board gave informative presentations and were always willing to answer questions. Zodiac drivers were able to get us close to wildlife (polar bears!) while making sure we did not disturb or distress the animals.Hospitality crew was amazingly attentive to guests, our cabins and the meals.
