ShipMyCar handled the import of my Hyundai from Australia, it was a daunting prospect to do it alone and I liked the fact ShipMyCar handle every stage of the process so I did not have to worry about anythingDelays can happen, my vessel was delayed by a couple of weeks which meant my IVA test had to be rescheduled. The ShipMyCar Team did everything possible to reduce these delays that are obviously completely out of their / anyone's control. They kept me posted along the way all using their excellent portal software, this was so easy to also use to know what documents they needed. I'm no good with computers but found this very helpful and easy to use. When I did get to meet them I realised just how hard they work to make sure things run as smoothly as possible. They are a very nice bunch of people who have many years experience in shipping cars, they are genuinely upset about delays they can not control such as shipping lines / government agencies and they work very long hours to always respond to queries I had quickly.Would strongly recommend them if looking to ship your car and not have to worry about a thing
My Ship My Car Experience.I Instructed Ship my Car to handle the import of a car from California to the UK.Timeline quoted on the phone and in their import guide is as follows2 to 3 Days delivery to port2 to 3 weeks customs clearance and loading6 shipping LA to UKTotal time LA to UK 8 to 10 weeks. No timeline quoted for UK Customs clearance and delivery.I received a quote on the 26th February and paid the amount due on the 27th February.Ship my Car emailed the Vendor to confirm they were handling collection of the vehicle. They failed to arrange collection the vehicle for over 3 weeks. This led to the vendor (unasked) arranging shipping to the port himself on 22th March I queried the delay in collecting the car and was advised it was with the way transport is arranged in the US, it is via a bidding system.Ship my car charge a fixed fee for collection and transport with apparently no dedicated haulage contractor in the US to handle collection and delivery, so it seems if no one bids for the work or the bid is not to ship my cars liking, your car does not get collected. The car arrived at the port on the xxx April, there was an issue with the title documents, this was not ship my Cars fault. The Car and correct paper work were accepted by the port on 4th April and cleared for shipping by customs on 5th April some 3 weeks later. When I asked on a weekly basis for a shipping date, the stock replies were ,” We are Chasing for a date,” “Shipping will be soon”, “Will advise ASAP”When I complained about the delay I was informed rather arrogantly by the managing director, “We are the biggest UK agent of the biggest US shipper, unfortunately delays happen”At no point in the process was any explanation offered or reason for the delay given.I was originally provided with a UK port arrival date of 5th July, this was subsequently changed to the 19th July, I queried the change in arrival date and received the all-encompassing reply “Vessel is delayed” I was never given an actual shipping date but was told to expect the car to arrive in the UK on 19th July. The car final arrived in the UK on the 21st July, and was delivered to me on 31st July. This is a Ship my Car total collection, shipping and delivery time of 19 weeks, well outside the 8 to 10 weeks quoted.UK registration of the vehicle was a part of the service I had requested and been quoted for.The afternoon before delivery I received my final invoice, the fee for UK registration was not on there. I queried this with the company and was advised as the vehicle did not have a current MOT (it is MOT exempt) and as they were not checking over the vehicle they would not be carrying out the UK registration. They advised me that as a company they do not register a vehicle they have not inspected even though an MOT is not required. If this was the companies policy it is not stated anywhere in the documents supplied, they were fully aware that they were not undertaking an MOT or inspection of the vehicle. It would have been a common curtesy to inform me that in fact they would not be undertaking the UK registration.I could have then ordered the registration documents from the DVLA in plenty of time, not the evening before the car arrived. To register the vehicle I needed the original title documents, they were not delivered with the vehicle. After numerous requests I received the documents on 8th September some 5½ weeks after I received the car, this led to a delay in in the UK registration of the carThis was the first car I have ever imported and by appointing Ship my Car I hoped for a stress free import process, unfortunately it turned out to be far from that. The import service provided by Ship my Car fell well outside their own quoted service delivery timelines and their level of customer service left a lot to be desired. To say I was disappointed with the service provided by Ship My Car would be an understatement to say the least. If I import another vehicle from the US to the UK I would not use Ship my Car.Would I recommend Ship my Car?, I most certainly would not.
Follow up review:SMC are trying to make out that I signed for the car as happy. I stated, at the time of signing, that the interior of the car had not been examined as it was full of agreed contents. Had I pre known of any damage to the car I would surely not have signed at that stage.SMC removed the contents from the car when it was sent for MOT, which is where the damage likely occured. That they are hiding behind a lack of photo evidence of the inside of the vehicle, have made no attempt to mitigate the loss and are even attempting to critise the condition of my prize possession. Agree to pay for your responsibility and stop hiding behind red tape. First review: I used Ship My Car recently to bring my Maserati GranCabrio back from Hong Kong to UK. The initial dealings were very professional and the cost was acceptable.2 matters, however, have soured the experience : A four week delay in the suggested timeframe ( attributed to Dvla problems) was frustrating but what was unforgivable was the tear to my convertible roof that occurred on SMC's watch. They were given multiple opportunities to offer to resolve this matter yet hid behind their claimed lack of photographic proof. They took their payment and hid from their responsibility. Buyers beware ...
I used ShipMyCar to export my vehicle from Abu Dhabi to the UK and I'm really pleased with the result, They provided an excellent and professional service. They kept me updated on progress throughout via email and my personal portal and I would recommend them without hesitation.
The Team at ShipMyCar did a great job shipping my E Type Jaguar from there office in London to Perth AustraliaThe way they transported the car in its own sea container strapped down with heavy duty tie down straps and blocks of wood around the wheels.Good communication through out my cars journey even sent me photos of my car in the sea container before it leftGreat job GuysIan Knox
Nick and his crew shipped a Mercedes 600SL from the US for me and did a great job. All issues that arose were dealt with promptly and professionally, but overall the shipping worked just as they said it would. They made a difficult process much easier.
Thank you the Shipmycar team, Nick and Kingsley. Collected my '99 Mustang yesterday from the Shipmycar business centre in Milton Keynes and everything was ready and perfect. On the road home with minimal time involved. Throughout the process of shipping from Tucson, Arizona to UK everything has been handled and managed calmly, professionally and with utmost respect to the customer. Excellent value for money as far as I am concerned and any worries I had about conversion of a US car to UK standards, as well as achieving full registration with DVLA were quickly dispelled as the staged processes were completed. Communication very good throughout, there was no pressure at all to consider "add-ons" and the choices for extra works were clear, and were my own choice in the end.Thank you once again Shipmycar.
