As a longtime player since early 2015, I’ve witnessed the game evolve from its earlier graphics and quests. While it still offers enjoyable gameplay, I feel the overall direction has noticeably changed, and it's understandable to be frustrated by that. Originally aimed at a teenage audience, the game shifted its focus a few years ago, leading to the removal or alteration of many quests to tone down scarier themes and lessen the grind for older players. Halloween quests, once thrilling, have become quite mild, and the storyline seems to have lost its way. Transitioning a horse-themed game to be more kid-friendly isn’t inherently bad, but the pricing for memberships and Star Coin packages raises concerns, especially for a younger audience. While double star coin weekends help make costs seem more manageable, marketing high-priced items to kids is problematic. Players can earn in-game currency through a weekly allowance, but at just 100 per week, it falls short compared to the high prices of new content, primarily horses costing between 800-980. Increasing the allowance could alleviate this pressure, but as it stands, there seems to be an intention to encourage spending among those vulnerable to FOMO for a costly virtual horse. If you can afford the expenses, it might not be an issue, but given that the target audience is now children, it raises questions. Parents may handle payments, but that doesn't excuse the inflated prices that appeal most to this demographic. My main concern now lies with the storytelling, which has shifted to a more generic magical horse adventure rather than the intriguing mystery it once was. I really wish they had preserved the original concept instead of hastily revising it and rushing through quests that take months to develop.
I am a veteran player, account has existed since early 2015 and I was around for the old graphics and quests. The game is still fun and isn't bad to play, but the direction of it has definitely shifted and is valid to be upset about. The game was originally more targeted towards teens rather than kids, but they changed that a few years ago. This resulted in a lot of quests being removed or adjusted to remove the scarier quest themes or to reduce the grind needed for some story quests that older players experienced. Halloween quests were especially scary, but its been completely watered down. Alongside this, the direction for the story has been completely lost.Making a game about horses to be more kid friendly isn't bad, but its a bit questionable when it comes off as extortive with how pricey it is to pay for the membership and Star Coin packages, which only seem reasonable if you're an adult with a job. Yes they have double star coin weekends which make it seem more reasonable, but marketing your game to kids with high pricing isn't a good look. You can save up for things in-game with the weekly allowance, but its so little (100 per week) compared to the content released, which is mainly horses priced between 800-980. This could easily be solved if they increased the allowance, but right now it just feels like they want to pressure those susceptible to FOMO into spending to get a horse. A pricey pixel horse.Of course if you can afford these things you wouldn't find this an issue, but as I said their audience is now KIDS. Their parents are the one paying for it, sure, but it still doesn't justify the gouged prices when this would be the audience begging for these packages the most.Really the only issue I have with this game now is the direction of the story. They turned it into a typical magical horse journey instead of the mystery that it was before. I really wish they kept the original idea of it intact rather than overriding and not developing it properly as they just ran in circles with it and rush every quest that takes months to even come out.
I’ve been a star rider since I think 2018 (a long time) and honestly…IM SICK OF THE BAD REVIEWS-NOT ONLY DO I PLAY EVERYDAY STILL BUT..it STILL takes me away from the hardships of life and lets me live out an equestrian dream. Some days I literally just put my AirPods in and roam catching fireflies or go on trail rides with the community. The developers are amazing too-always updating WEEKLY and creating new content. I’ve watched the game go from clunky graphics to blossoming realistic stallions and enchanted lands.I can’t understand the upset about the changes made-I think it looks beautiful. The models resemble the breeds more than ever-just look at there site and you can see just how much work has been put into it!As for payments, I'm in my 30’s-I have a job. The only thing HONESTLY you SHOULD purchase is a “ONE TIME STAR RIDER MEMBERSHIP” pay once never again-unlock the entire game and get free “Star Coin” allowance every week to help you save up for a horse you want or a cool outfit!However-for those like me-who have a job and your money IS YOUR OWN- I HAVE bought star coin-specifically during “double star coin” events. It grants you 10,000 star coins and that lasts me MORE THEN A YEAR. They didn’t FORCE ME TOO-or MAKE ME. THE GAME IS NOT PAY TO WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!This is a honest review from a player who HONESTLY plays everyday-and wouldn’t have it any other way. Star stable if you see this-thank you for continuing to be the mental health therapy I need in my hectic day. If there was a score high then 5 stars you’d earn it.
Awful. I have been contacting them for months via emails, occasionally id get a generic one back. They refuse to stop taking money from my account. The only option for me now is to get an entirely new bank card with a different account number due to Barclays not being able to cancel a standing order. This organisation are scum.
MONEY LAUNDERING NOT A SERIOUS COMPANY WHO CARES ABOUT THE PLAYERBASE!!!!! this game is 9$ a month or about 80$ to get, 30$ per horse, no good physics, and the player model has been completely abandoned for years with only a single petite option and 5 plus size ones (?) with a couple of baby looking faces. while they FOCUS ON UPDATING EACH HORSE IN THERE ENTIRE COLLECTION TO UTMOST REALISTIC PERFECTION, VEINS ON THE FACE EVEN, WHILE THE PLAYER MODEL IS EXREMELY CARTOONY. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL GAME, ITS OBVIOUS ITS SOME MONEY LAUNDERING SINCE THEIR HORSES ARE THE MAIN SOURCE OF INCOME THATS ALL THEY FOCUS ON!!!!!!!! This game gets worse every year and I've joined in 2013. they used to give out redeem codes frequently for 200 or 300 sc minimum, now its a 100 max. We got a single code for 100 sc this Christmas and a single "cozy tack" set which looks like last years. Last year we got a set for person and horse, multiple codes, random cloths like two gorgeous sunnies, t shirts not even based on Christmas etc. The person is apparently modeled off a toddler, so its awkward wearing "grown up " clothes. I even heard people talking about how unflattering the player model makes all the cloths yesterday in global chat its not just me. you can't ride smaller horses because the persons legs almost touch the floor and its goofy. I don't know why they keep treating us so bad, this game is 9$ a month or about 80$ to get. They used to update every Wednesday, now they write something random and pass it off as an update, usually not even an actual update, most of the times being a side quest that's about doing someones chores like setting up for a race, cleaning up, or solving npc drama.
Star Stable has gone from a beloved game to a complete disaster — and the worst part isn’t even the broken launcher. It’s the absolute silence from the company that claims to “care about its players.”For over a week, I have been unable to play at all because the mobile launcher simply does not work. It refuses to download the required data, the “download over WiFi or data” window disappears before it even registers, and the launcher endlessly claims I have no internet — despite testing multiple strong WiFi networks and fast 5G data. This is NOT a user problem. This is a broken product being handed to paying players.I have sent support ticket — ignored.I have messaged their social media team — ignored.I have waited past the timeframe they themselves promise — still ignored. The only consistent part of the Star Stable experience right now is being ignored after giving them your money. This isn’t just bad service — it is complete negligence. If a game-breaking bug prevents players from even accessing the product, the minimum expected is a response, an update, or even an acknowledgement. Instead, we get nothing. No transparency, no fixes, no communication.Star Stable used to care. Whoever is running this now clearly doesn’t.If you're considering starting this game or spending money — don’t. Not until the company remembers that players aren’t an inconvenience — they’re the reason the game exists at all.
i recently just started to play star stables. when i first made myself an account a little over a week ago. everything was going fine, but when i logged on to play yesterday, i went to continue on with my quests, and it forces me to become a star rider.
I have been playing Star Stable Online since 2012. The game has changed so much and it isn't fun anymore. The game feels too childish and unrealistic nowadays because of all the things they have changed. There's much less quests coming up and they seem to focus mainly on new horses and tack. They are money greedy, the prices are way too high in my opinion. They don't listen players anymore and it has been this way for quite a long time now, i think since 2018 or 2019. The main story quest has changed so many times it's ridiculous. It seems they don't know which direction they want to be heading with this game. Customer support is so slow it takes ages for them to answer, sometimes they don't answer at all. I think this game is just boring bying game nowadays, nothing more. Very disappointed it has turned out to be like this because this game could have really been the best horse game without all these changes.
