By Abdalla B MAs the world shifts toward sustainable energy solutions, many homeowners, including myself, have turned to solar power as a way to reduce energy costs and environmental impact. About a year and a half ago, I made the decision to install a solar system paired with a Sungrow battery through a company called Smart Users. While my initial experience was promising, I have since encountered significant challenges that have left me questioning the reliability of both the product and the companies involved. The Installation ExperienceMy journey began with a thorough research process, during which I learned about Smart Users and their partnership with Sungrow Power. I was impressed by the offerings: a 10-year warranty on the battery and a 20-year warranty on the solar system. After careful consideration, I invested just under $20,000 into the system, feeling confident that I was making a sound decision for my home and the environment. The Issue ArisesFast forward to a year and a half post-installation, I faced a significant problem: the Sungrow battery system stopped functioning. Naturally, I reached out to both Smart Users and Sungrow Power, expecting a straightforward resolution under the warranty agreements. Instead, I was met with a frustrating back-and-forth, with each company deflecting responsibility onto the other. The Blame GameDespite my efforts to communicate the urgency of the situation, I received little more than generic responses. It was disheartening to hear that rather than working together to resolve the issue, both companies were pointing fingers. They offered me the contact information of the installer, who I reached out to directly. He informed me that he was aware of the problem and that the battery had been down since August. He mentioned he was in negotiations with the company to cover the repairs but cautioned me not to pressure him, as he was not willing to do the work for free.Seeking ResolutionThe lack of accountability and the ongoing blame game have left me feeling stuck. I have sent multiple emails seeking clarification and assistance, but the responses have been far from satisfactory. The promises of warranties seem hollow when faced with the reality of unresponsive customer service and an unresolved issue.Lessons LearnedThis experience has highlighted several important lessons for anyone considering solar energy. Firstly, while solar power offers many benefits, it is crucial to thoroughly vet the companies involved, not just for their products but for their customer service and warranty fulfillment. Additionally, understanding the terms of any warranty and the processes for claiming it can save a lot of frustration down the line.ConclusionAs I navigate this challenging situation, I remain hopeful that Smart Users and Sungrow Power will take responsibility and work towards a solution. Solar energy has the potential to transform our energy landscape, but it requires reliable products and companies that stand behind their commitments. For now, I encourage others in the solar market to be vigilant, informed, and proactive in their dealings with energy companies. In sharing my story, I hope to shed light on the importance of accountability in the renewable energy sector and the need for consumers to be empowered in their choices. Together, we can push for a more reliable and responsive solar energy industry.
An absolute shambles of a company, I highly recommend avoiding them at all costs My father had 30+ solar panels installed via a reseller, however when it came to changing a single setting we were told to contact Sungrow directly as they insist on only using Sungrow engineers to change any settings. It has now been over 3 months since we started this farce of trying to book a Sungrow engineer.Firstly, although they have in country telephone number and email adresses, no one is actually at the other end.Everything goes through china. The English if the people responding is highly questionable. They send you in a loop...Email salesReply says to email it department but doesn't supply email address.Email again asking for it department contact. After 6 weeks you get a reply asking you to open a ticket No link, no details. After much searching we found out how to open a ticket.Email in reply to open ticket is that they want to close the ticket.Email back saying we can't as we still haven't been able to book the engineer.Email back says contact sales. We s'il sales again, who weeks later tell us to contact our service engineer.Again, no name no details no hint of how to do it.Email back asking for that information so that we can do as they asked...Email back asks us to open a ticket.Open another ticket.Email back asking us to close the ticket We email back saying everything we have done and can they send details of whomever at their company can book an engineer to attend.Bear in mind when we bought this system it was guaranteed that they had local engineers and 24/7 support ..To hey email b as ck telling is to contact our service engineer!Again no information on how to do that or whom they may be .Avoid them, chose any other company as in my personal opinion Sungrow power cut s simply not to be trusted to do anything properly.
