Knowledgeable engineer courteous and answered my questions fully. I know nothing about boilers! He explained a couple of issues I had so I understand a bit more! He was punctual and informed me of his arrival time I have had the Homecare policy from British Gas for over 20 yrs Would recommend .
The company I work for rents out flats to students. We always get our gas boilers serviced in spring because if you get the servicing done in spring or summer you greatly reduce the risk of a breakdown in winter. Also if anything significant is found whilst the weather is good then it's far less inconvenient. If you are reading this please get your gas boiler serviced in spring and summer for that reason.
Now the gas boiler service was booked between 8 am and 1 pm. I got a phone call from Steve Stroud early morning. We met at the property.
Now he looked at the boiler, took of the front cover and did his stuff. To say the very least he was very thorough. I couldn't believe how much effort he was making. Not only did he check the boiler he checked all the radiators and the hot water tank as well. He gave the central heating system a full check and a clean bill of health. I was very impressed when he also checked the carbon monoxide detector.
He also advised me that for next year's check to remove the cupboard around the boiler so the engineer who came round can put some supporting screws on the flue.
I was very pleased with his work as was the tenant. When we went our separate ways we shook hands and said that in the nicest possible way I hope we don't see each other again for another year. He understood and saw the funny side of it.
So the usual questions.
Would I recommend BG homecare 400 to anyone? All day every day.
Are they worth the money? Good value at 10 times the price.
Would I use them again? Those engineers are 2nd to none. When you've had a gas boiler or central heating emergency the fear of God goes through you. You have to find a quality engineer at short notice. You worry about how much it'll cost. Not with homecare 400 you get a quality engineer for a fixed price. Besides you get an annual service so the chances of that happening are greatly reduced.
What would I advise the public? If you are a member of the public reading this I'd get yourself registered with BG homecare 400 and get your boiler serviced between February to September.

I've tried several times via chat and they say they will fix it but it doesn't get fixed. I've tried phoning and it's an automated system which records your response. Then it asks you to use chat or phone. I asked via chat how to raise a complaint and they give you a link which takes you to "chat" to raise a complaint. Just go round and round in circles. Terrible company to deal with.

I would even put 1 star, the staff are rude, I have asked for my £150 cheque to be sent out from November 2025 and they have refused to give it me when I switched over to e.on. The winter payment is supposed to be to help me and my family, until this day they said that they won’t be sending my check out, but by law its mine not there’s, I will be taking action against British Gas. They are disgusting they rob you blind their prices are disgusting high and when you want help don’t don’t come out and help you but they are quick enough to take money from you.
Booked my appointment online very easily. Received a text informing me of the appointment time period . Received a call from the engineer just before his arrival. Engineer was very thorough checked the boiler and radiators etc.No issues , was complimentary about the boiler which was reassuring. V happy with the service
Very good service. Engineer new his job was clean and efficient. Boiler installed in less than a day fully explained controls. Arranged for electricians to come same day to set up new Hive and thermostat.
Booked a gas service. Cowboy came round and signed it off as "safe", whilst leaving a washer out causing the whole house to vibrate. Emissions were sky high too.
Customer services NEVER phone you back, had to phone multiple times to chase the issue up. 2 extra service men later then managed to sort it. So 1 simple service turned into 3 days I had to take off, and multiple phone calls.
Withdrawing all my credit and changing suppliers.

Fantastic service the engineer was on time respectful when he was in the house he ensured my gas boiler was working to its full potential and cleaned and serviced it to a very high standard

Today, we received a reminder that our EV tariff is ending soon. When we checked the available tariffs, we found one that would cost over £3,000. We're a bit confused, as we have spent less than £1,500 over the entire year, which includes charging our car for the whole year. The quote does not include gas, it's just for electric. Nothing will change this year so why are BG going to charge us an extra £1.5K for this year especially when energy prices are going down.
