Took my dog who was very ill they put her on oxygen while I was waiting to see the vet but but sadly she passed away while she was been treated.the staff was absolutely amazing with us and let us take our time to say goodbye to my dog cannot fault the care and compassion thankyou very much
The quality of care is ok, but there is an issue with their cost for treatment. Just had a visit to my local practice in Patrington: £55 consultation, £40 Isaderm gel, £35 Synulox antibiotic tablets (x7). The consultation is at the expensive end of what you might pay, but the medication cost is simple profiteering. In truth, the consultation was unnecessary as it was a repeat issue and I knew the medication required. Maybe I should have thought it through beforehand. The Isaderm gel I can buy on line for £11.50 and the tablets are 76p each. Both need a prescription (cost from Medivet for a prescription is around £20), but that would still be a saving of £38 (and without the consultation, £93).I believe that Swanbridge have now been taken over by the MEDIVET chain, but the pricing is very similar to what Swanbridge used to charge. Suffice to say, I will take my dogs elsewhere in the future and would recommend anyone else do the same to avoid being fleeced.
I can honestly say that the staff at Swanbridge Vets are the best ever. I phoned them this morning as we found a young swift unable to fly, and the lovely lady on the phone asked if we could bring the bird in. They were so lovely and even gave me fantastic feedback that the young swift had received treatment and had made a full recovery and released. It really has made my day - thank you so much Swanbridge Vets, it's made me so happy knowing that this little bird survived. I'm definitely moving my 3 cats to this practice!! :-)
I’ve just taken my cat who had been in a scrap for a consultation. They prescribed antibiotics and charged me £138. I’ve just found the same prescription for £14 on line. A total rip off for a seven minute appointment. They are taking advantage of vulnerable people who love their pets. I can’t afford this money and won’t be able to eat this month.

Our dog wasn’t very well, he wasn’t eating much & had lost a bit of weight. We took him to see the vet at Swanbridge, we were very anxious waiting & were told when we saw the vet that he had testicular cancer. So we were so worried. With our dog being thirteen we were also worried about him being put to sleep. Straight away they came over with a list & prices attached of how much we would have to pay. We were then sent home to ring our pet insurance which we did. I rang Swanbridge the next day & the receptionist said they can’t fit him in so we were left with the thought our dog has cancer & was gonna die. So we made an appointment at our local vets in Beverley, Norwood vets & they were so lovely. They told us we need not worry about his testicles cos there was a more serious condition going on which Swanbridge didn’t pick up on, we had a scan straight away & were told they wouldn’t operate because of his age. So he had a very cheap medication to help him until we felt he couldn’t cope anymore as we didn’t want him to suffer. Sadly our dog has now passed away but we are not left in debt, like we would have been with Swanland vets. Shame on you Swanbridge in Swanland Hull, we are now £1500 debt free. We also had to seek help from another vets which we are now glad we did. You should be ashamed Swanbridge….
Yes, these are good vets and yes they care but boy completely rip off either you or the insurance company. My dog hurt it’s hind leg, I was really concerned and swanbridge fitted us in. So far so good.Due to the pandemic they collected my dog from my car to assess. You know you’re in trouble when they come out and say “now this is the gold standard “. They had allowed for everything from X-rays (7no) even to X-ray his opposite leg. After care, cast , meds. £1200 and they wanted it upfront. They could see I was unhappy and within 2 minutes had removed a number of items saying “we probably won’t need this “ and poof £350 suddenly lost.I was still unhappy so I agreed to pay the consultation fee and some meds/pain relief. 3 days later I took him to vets4pets. He had X-ray and meds and fortunately no serious damage. Paid my excess and small admin fee and they deal directly with the insurance f the rest which was a total of £390 inc X-ray sedation meds and consultation. Dog owners beware of swanbridge.
Rate card higher than other vets and we expected standards to be too. Well equipped and skilled in vetenary practice but sadly lacking in humanity, ethics and morals. Watch for excessive treatments and over inflated costs; the Staff we met were very pleasant but were ultimately focussed on generating revenue.Swanbridge have now let us down with two animals. The first I put down to "bad luck" but the most recent issue has been the final straw. We presented our terminally ill dog for consultation with the expectation we would most likely be putting her to sleep. Lottie was in pain with long-term orthopedic issues which had deteriorated rapidly in the last month and been compounded with further unforseen complications in the last few days following a recently prescribed course of pain medication. Despite normally being a cheeky, energetic little character who loved to run, she had been refusing food and water for days, couldn't walk further than a few feet and was generally very weak and subdued. We highlighted to the consulting vet that, although she was a young dog, our desire was to achieve quality not necessarily quantity of life and that, if it was her time, we wanted to ensure she died peacefully with dignity. He listened then proceeded to sow seeds of unrealistically high hopes and employ borderline emotional blackmail to convince us to do more to "give her a chance". I'm ashamed that we allowed ourselves to be swayed and agreed to pay £900 for tests, IV fluids and an overnight stay. The next morning they called and told us that she was "looking better" and they were "pleased" with progress and recommended that we should pay another £500 for additional tests and treatment... We were not convinced and confirmed we should only complete the treatment for which we had already paid. We were uncomfortable enough with the situation to contact another vet to arrange a transfer. When we collected Lottie in the afternoon, Swanbridge staff insisted we pay the full balance before bringing her out to see us. Bill settled, they brought her out; She looked terrible and was totally bewildered and withdrawn. With no more money on the horizon, Swanbridge staff were outwardly polite and sympathetic but obviously couldn't hand her over quick enough. They were vague in their handover and were either unable or unwilling to tell us what quantity of fluids she had been given or even whether she had eaten while she was in their care. It was immediately apprent that the dream sold as "Giving her a Chance" had only served to extend her suffering. We took her home for the night and then to a new vet the next afternoon. Having briefly reviewed her case and examined her, the second vet quickly agreed that putting her immediately to sleep would likely be the kindest thing.Lottie is gone now. Whilst I am annoyed at being sold unrealistic false hopes, I am far more upset that we let her down and allowed Swanbridge unecessarily extend her suffering solely in the name of demonstating their vetenary prowess and padding their bottom line. There are undoubtedly great Vets out there but I'm sad to say that our experience of Swanbridge more closely mirrors those described by the ex-Vet who published a veterinary expose: "Why I'm ashamed to be a Vet" (worth a Google). On that basis I'm not going to subject any more of our animals to Swanbridge Vetenary Hospital...
