BAIT AND SWITCH

Horrible experience. Extremely frustrating trying to get ahold of anyone to answer any questions. Paid double the initial quote. A week before pick up we sent a detailed list of all of our belongings with measurements (our inventory increased so we had to pay more, which we understood and paid, no questions asked). Day of pick up the movers loaded our boxes and 2/3 of our couch and then told us they can’t add any more to the truck until we pay them an additional $2600 more than what we were quoted. On day of pickup we actually had less inventory than what we sent the week prior so it made no sense that we magically had double the cubic feet. When our stuff arrived the movers told us they didn’t even work for safe hands and they were contracted out. Which we were told Safe Hands didn’t do. Chose this company because it was cheaper than a pod/uhaul and had great google reviews and a good “early booking deal” but it ended up being way more money and a huge headache. Based on yelp reviews, it seems like we weren’t the only ones dealing with this nightmare of a company. They spend more time replying to bad reviews than they do taking care of their current customers it seems.

Worst company to give your business to

I have recently learned that safe hands relocation pay for their reviews which is still hard to believe, but going through what I’m going through with this company, I’m starting to believe it. I booked this company for my move from Florida to Indiana, Chris did his best until he finally convinced me to book them thinking that they would get the job done. Everyone was so nice up until they got my money and my belongings. They gave me a quote and I signed a contract for that quote but upon picking up, they changed the price on me, up to $1300 extra, when I refused to pay it, they threatened to keep my $700 deposit. I was already overwhelmed, I just agreed and I continued with it. The driver told me it would be delivered in two days! It’s been 20 days since they picked up my belongings, and I haven’t heard from a single soul. I already paid them most of the money upfront, now, nobody is returning my calls, or my email, I have reached out to Ryan, Roxy, Chris, Jack, and nobody have the decency to get back to me on where my things are or when should I expect to receive them. I have so many expensive items in those boxes and safe hands relocation will pay, even if it’s the last thing I do. This is ridiculous. How are you veteran and family owned and this is how you’re operating? I work really hard for my money and I’ll be damned if I let some dishonest people scammed me out of over $2,000 in cash plus $10,000 plus in merchandise. My attorney is handling the case, but in the meantime I feel like I should warn others about using this company for their move. Please do your research and take heed to the negative reviews because they are the real reviews!

****DO NOT USE THIS MOVER!!****

****DO NOT USE THIS MOVER!!**** We have had an extremely frustrating experience with this company so far and there is still no resolution. We contracted Safe Hand Relocation to move our belongings from Highland, CA to Knoxville, TN. During the initial quoting process we were asked to provide a detailed list of what was needing to be moved including all dimensions. I went through our home and measured out everything we were going to have the movers take and provided a very detailed list of all the items and specific measurements for each one. This came to an initial quote of about 1600 cubic feet. When the mover showed up they started telling us we had a lot of bulky things and that though they would not charge for the “Bulky Items Fee” they would be charging for the space. The Foreman came up with a number totaling 2500 cubic feet without ever measuring anything or even starting to load the truck. This was a significant increase in the total price but we were leaving our home by the end of the week and didn’t feel we had any options. I understand that things don’t always stack perfectly but the list of all the items showed exactly what we had and needed to move. The movers arrived on July 29th, 2025. We were told we would get a call a day prior to them arriving, but that did not happen. I received a call from a random number on the 29th at 6AM which I missed / ignored. No message was left letting me know it was the mover. I ended up messaging the dispatcher later that morning and was informed that they had tried to reach out. She was able to provide the number for the Foreman and I was able to contact them to coordinate the move that day. At the time, we did not have an estimated delivery date for our belongings as we were still in the process of selling our home and finding a new one in Tennessee. We were told that the first month of storage would be included in the price and any additional time needed would be an additional charge, which we agreed to. Once we were established in Tennessee we were able to provide an address for them to deliver our belongings. We provided Summer with our delivery address on August 15th, 2025. I did not get a response from Summer until August 21st asking if I was ready to start the delivery process, which I replied yes. By this point I had already received a message from their Foreman on August 17th asking if I was ready for delivery to which I replied yes and provided them with the delivery address. I was told on the 17th that our belongings would be loaded potentially by that coming Wednesday - Friday and out to us soon after. The Foreman stated they could provide more detail the following day. I did not hear back from the Foreman until August 21st, in which he said our items were scheduled to be loaded the following day and to allow 4 to 6 days for delivery. It is now Tuesday, September 2nd and we still have no idea if our belongings are loaded and on their way, or if they are still sitting in a warehouse in California and we can’t get any updates from anyone. The bulk of the communication with this company has been through text. You can almost never get someone on the phone. This is a major concern considering the company has our lives held hostage in a warehouse or a truck somewhere and we can get zero information from them. The only benefit to that is that I have all the documented conversations on my phone that are named, timestamped, and easily accessible. At this point we feel like we have paid them close to $7000 to steal our things. This company also claims to be Veteran owned, which I am not disputing and proud to support. However, noting about this company reflect well in that regard. I would expect honesty, integrity, transparency, communication, honor, service, accountability from a veteran owned company. This company has none of that. The level of stress and frustration this has caused my wife and me is unmeasurable and unreasonable. There may be other movers tied to this company that do well, but our experience with Summer and the Foreman in Southern California had been absolute garbage. If the owner of the company would like to reach out and help with a resolution I would be glad to update this review. Our BOL is 6294470. At this point, we just want our belongings back and to not have to deal with this company anymore. It has been two weeks since we have provided a delivery address. We will be filing complaints with the BBB and FMCSA.

O Stars

Update: instead of taking accountability or contacting me in any way, this company has now blocked me and is completely unresponsive. Extremely unprofessional. Look out for their AI generated photos showing “happy customers” and the fake profiles that they are paying to leave fake reviews Reached out for my move from FL to CO and unfortunately had the same experience as many other reviews. I was advised that my move would cost an estimated $2300 and to not worry about not having an accurate amount of boxes as if I added 10-20 more, it would only be an additional $200-300. When questioning about insurance, I was told that my items would be insured up to $10,000 per item. After providing measurements of my furniture and my updated box amount, my estimate then went up to $1000. This steep increase completely took me by surprise as I was only going to use Safe Hands due to them being competitive with UHaul prices… this was no longer the case.My downpayment was $1237, for a pickup date listed as June 11-12th. The estimates that I signed listed that “ Estimates may be canceled penalty free and deposits are fully refundable only if the customer cancels the move in writing during the 3 day window immediately after Bill of Lading is signed.” The Bill of Lading was sent to me on June 10th, and I was advised that movers could not be scheduled for me until I signed it. This document now advised that I was not insured $10,000 per item as I was informed during the booking process, but they actually only cover $0.60 per pound, per item. I asked my dispatcher R—- (the third person I was randomly thrown to) for clarity, as if my 20lb tv was broken they’d only cover $12. She advised this was correct, but that they “sometimes” will cover more.Due to the multiple variations in what D—-y (the person who booked me) and R—- said, I decided cancelling would be the best option. I was then advised that I would not be refunded anything if I cancelled as they booked a hotel for the movers, and they were now scheduled to show up at my home at 2-4pm. How is this the case when I haven’t even signed the bill of lading that was required to proceed with scheduling? R—- advised that the Bill of Lading and the estimate that I signed were the same document, which is completely false.I was then emailed by an E—— P——, asking how I would like to proceed as movers were scheduled for me the next day. I responded back requesting a phone call, and stated if movers were scheduled we’d see them then. No phone call was returned, in fact their off shore representative told us to stop calling. No email response was received. No movers showed up. No money has been refunded. This is the biggest scam of a company. They’re not BBB accredited and in fact have an F rating. Their reviews on Facebook are fraudulent. If you click through them, they are clearly paid reviews from fake accounts. Do not trust this company. They are the classic bait and switch movers that they will warn you about with the initial phone call.

Totally unsatisfied

I had a contract with a broker to move my apartment which was sub-contracted to Safe Hands Relocation LLC.Pickup driver started talking nicely when he arrived but in few minutes he turned different and start asking for more money. I had no choice but to agree.Example - I had professionally evaluated Cu ft of boxes / space and he demanded that it is 100 Cu ft less than what he believes. I ended up paying for 100 Cu ft more.Once they picked up the goods, there was no communication at all as to when goods will be delivered despite numerous calls and text messages.Similarly, when they delivered the goods, the driver started asking more money saying that distance from the truck to the apt is more than 75 linear feet. Literally, the elevator was less than 10 ft and apt was less than 15 ft.I strongly refused to pay for anything as it was very clear in contract that apt is on the 3rd floor with freight elevator and less than 25 ft.When they delivered, few things were damaged and a couple of items were missing. I called the office more than 15 - 20 times to respond. Finally, they sent me the claim form which I filled out immediately with evidence.Since then there has been no response except once they said they will get back to me within a couple of hours. It has been weeks now.I would STRONGLY recommend to stay away from them.

50% hike in price at pickup, delayed delivery

Multiple things went wrong with the entire moving experience. NC to WI 1 bed 1 bath apartment. I was debating if I should u-haul when safe hands sales team approached with a very competitive offer that was only about 3K compared to the 2K if I had U-hauled (fuel, insurance, car tow all included). I figured the 1K premium is justified for the convenience. The sales team was super responsive, assured that the estimate provided was more than sufficient to cover everything I needed to move. I sent them a walk-through video, completed an inventory list with pictures attached and documented all the items to be moved, even clearly communicated when I need my stuff at the apartment in WI. No one from their team even hinted of potential discrepancies. Sales team gave me all sorts of assurances that the pick up and drop off will be as discussed, with a +/- 1 day deviation. I figured that's acceptable. Pickup was 1 day delayed, which was fine, but at pickup, the team lead informed me that it would cost 1.5K more due to additional space required in the truck. 50% deviation from the initial estimate came as a shock. The pickup was on a sunday and the office was not reachable. It was too close to look for alternatives and I already paid close to 1K deposit which was non-refundable at that stage. I had no choice but to go ahead. I expected 5 - 10% increase, but 50%? On top of that, delivery did not happen on my expected date, as promised by sales. The delivery team told me they already sent me the documents specifying the acceptable number of days based on miles to be driven. I expected the sales team's assurance would supersede anything else, but apparently I was bait-n-hooked! Another shock after the unexpected price hike. But the disappointment didn't stop there, based on their maximum days range, I should have received my stuff max within 10 days, but they took another 5 days citing driver availability. I had to buy stuff as my work in WI already started and I didn't receive my things yet. I also had to take half-day off on the day they actually showed up. And the disappointment didn't stop even there. The delivery experience was poor. The driver was accompanied by 2 helpers, 1 guy was very friendly and sincere with his work, but the other guy was rude and mishandled the boxes. The pickup team was also good with my items which is why I am giving 2 stars to acknowledge the few personnel they had that were actually nice to work with. Throughout the process, I tried multiple times to reach out to the customer service team to get things sorted, tried to get pricing adjusted, dates confirmed, none of which were resolved. The customer service agent I was assigned assured me he would get back to me once the move is completed and he has all the documentation, but it has been over a month and no response. I reached out via email and phone multiple times over the weeks but no response. While unboxing, I found multiple items broken like glassware, ceramic ware, frames, magnet board, book shelf, for which I emailed customer service, again no response. For paying close to 4.5K, the service was extremely sub-par. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this company for interstate/long-distance relocation. Update after company's response:If you are just going to rebut all my concerns with excuses, then at least get the facts right. I sent the full inventory list with pictures. I actually removed a few large furniture items from when the sales agent quoted me, so the load is actually lower than the video walk through I sent. The pickup team told me that this always happens, system does not calculate enough space based on inventory. And what discount are you talking about? The only discount I got was during the quotation process and the quoted price was $2932.95. My final expense was $4586.70, including a $100 surcharge at delivery (which is a whole another issue, like it is a single building and they walked from loading dock to service elevator, all in the same building, and still charged for distance?!). Regarding the schedule, I clearly explained to the sales agent my preferred dates and he assured the dates are feasible. If it wasn't, I should have been notified prior to finalizing schedule. I gave this feedback to supervisor as well.Regarding the breakage of items, ya I am not holding your team responsible for wrapping the items, but the way the delivery guy just threw the boxes worse than an airport loader is extremely concerning. Customer service told me he will get back to me after the delivery is completed, but after multiple emails and leaving voice messages, I did not receive any response. So, I did not have a choice but to leave a review, and voila, instant response!

Unprofessional, Late, and Predatory

Avoid this company at all costs. Our experience was riddled with unprofessional conduct and blatant disregard for the contract we signed. Despite agreeing in writing to accept check payments, they refused to take a check on moving day—showing up two hours late at 7:00 PM when banks were closed—leaving us to find thousands in cash on the spot. After significant back and forth they agreed to take a check but only if they could hold our items hostage for 2 weeks as collateral. The movers arrived outside of the agreed pickup window and then added $2000 in last-minute charges for items that were already listed and measured in the original inventory. They also failed to disassemble furniture as required in the contract, then charged us extra for the resulting volume.Communication was a mess. We were passed between three different people—one who only texts, another who only calls, and a third who seemed unsure of their own role. To make matters worse, they attempted to reschedule our delivery outside the delivery window outlined in the contract. They blame the fees on “bad software” despite being provided a list of all inventoried items with measurements more than a week in advance. We did have extra medium boxes. Appx 15 of them totaling 42 additional cubic feet (cuft) so an additional charge of $250 ($5.75/cuft) was expected. But on loading they found 317 additional cuft. Now If the load was actually 700 cuft then that’s just what the cost of it is. But the estimate being over 300 cuft low after being provided specific measurements of all items in advance is unacceptable at best and predatory at worst. Much like the other negative reviews we also dealt with an unhelpful dispatcher. This company is misleading and unethical. I would never use them again and strongly discourage others from doing business with them.

How many more zero star reviews will be…

This COMPANIES LONG REPLY TO MY SHORT COMPLAINT IS FALSE/NOT ACCURATE. The contract numbers were under quoted/bid. Typical of some movers. MY contract contained an itemized list of my big items...including big items they left behind. YOU DIDN'T CONTACT ME TO DISCUSS. Completely shocked/blindsided. They were contacted if I remembered anything. Contract total remained at $3736.51 plus $350.00 for packing loose items. Paid to date: $3236.51. Upon delivery i will owe $850.00 for a contract total=$4086.51 and they want more? I was called retarded, my messages are crazy. Agencies recommended I contact FBI. These are professionals? I'm 72 yo, on ssi and trusted this family and so called veteran owned company to give me honest service. Actual Veterans would not conduct business ripping off ANYONE BUT ESPECIALLY SENIORS. They knew long before my pickup they would not be picking up everything without additional cost. I should have been notified LONG ahead of pickup not at pickup. I would have made other arrangements much less stressful than dealing with this company. Google them read the many zero star ratings, Yelp, this platform TrustPilot, BBB sent them a letter of my complaint...no response giving them an F rating stating 40 previous complaints had no response and/or unresolved. why is my allowable response space much shorter compared to the novel this company posted. WARNING, SAVE YOURSELF, BELONGINGS, MONEY...DO NOT CONTRACT WITH THIS COMPANY!!!! SAVE YOURSELF THE FRUSTRATION! I don't understand why they haven't been shut down. I can't express my devastation and feeling of loss this company has cost me. $4,000 PLUS my hard work paying for my collections are now gone. I won't be rebuilding what i have lost, no starting over at my age...i know dramatic but unfortunately true.I hope I never have to use professional movers again.SHAMEFUL COMPANY/OWNERS AND EMPLOYEES. TRUSTPILOT: NOT ENOUGH SPACE FOR HONEST REPLY.

Complete headache

Complete headache. Was passed around between multiple people the whole process. Was told from the start that they dont use third party movers and that was not the case. The movers didnt call to let me know they were a hour away as promissed. Two men arrived at my home with my underage daughter home alone. Found out over a week and a half later our things were stil in storage in California and roxy was extremely rude when she was the only one responding. Could never get ahold of costumer service. My family had some very unfortunate events happen so our items once moved were put into a local storage and as my husband and i were bringing our item home we noticed things that were dropped and missing pieces to bed that we now have to buy new beds. Still we are unable to get ahold of anyone at this company to try to figure out something. Just a huge headache. My advice find another company or do it yourself. Very disappointed in the whole process!
