Avoid Tesla Solar

If you're considering Tesla Solar for your home, think twice. My experience with them has been nothing short of frustrating, marked by a lack of professionalism and a refusal to take responsibility for their mistakes.Hidden Roof Issues and Lack of TransparencyTesla Solar failed to properly inspect my roof before installation. Another company, before performing any work, conducted an inspection and immediately identified a roofing issue, refusing to proceed until it was addressed. Tesla, however, either ignored or failed to notice this issue. Instead of informing me, they proceeded with the installation, leading me to believe my roof was in perfect condition.Excessive Charges for Minimal EffortWhen the issue was finally discovered, Tesla charged me $300 for an inspector to review the problem—an inspection that lasted less than 20 minutes. That’s more than what most lawyers charge per hour, and all for something they should have caught before installation even began.Refusal to Communicate and UnprofessionalismRather than discussing the matter over the phone, Tesla refused to communicate directly and instead demanded immediate payment. The complete lack of professionalism and disregard for customer satisfaction was astonishing.A Strong Recommendation to Avoid Tesla SolarTesla Solar fails to prioritize customers, refuses to take responsibility for their mistakes, and overcharges for their own errors. Tesla solar has the WORST customer…

Tesla solar has the WORST customer service EVER. I'm trying to get ahold of them because of their inefficient panels and NO ONE to reach so far. Automated maze is impossible to reach somebody. I am not paying a single dollar towards my faulty panels unless I hear back from somebody.

One of the least customer friendly…

One of the least customer friendly solar providers. We chose to employ their solar systems as an early adopter and have been extremely dissatisfied. You can not contact anyone live. The emails I send take forever to get a response. Our roof has been leaking where they installed the panels and they are telling me it would take 3/6 months to remove and reinstall. Very frustrating. Buyer be aware.

Tesla Solar - Do not Recommend doing any business with them!

I have solar system with a Powerwall 2 already installed on my home. I contacted Tesla to add an additional Powerwall 2 battery to my system. When I requested a quote on-line from Tesla they provided an out of pocket coat of $10252. Tesla give me an estimate of 2 to 4 week to get a final design and cost about 3.5 weeks in the process they came back with estimate of $16xxx.00. Tesla Poject Advisor said this was only an estimate and I would get a final once they had a final design. We are now starting the 10th week into this project and I still do not have a final design and cost. I can't find a number for any manager or supervisot to call! The few times I have gotten any communication back from the Project Advisot Grp they just say work in process. I have been very happy with my 1st Powerwall 2 that was installted by Sunrun. My recommendation is not to do business with Tesla directly for any solar products. You can not contact Tesla via phone nor will the Project Advisor pass you to a Supervisor/Manager.

3-year Tesla solar roof system with…

3-year Tesla solar roof system with inverters that, were already replaced twice, stopped communicating with the gateway and after two tech visits and a new gateway still do not communicate. Now it will take more than 3 weeks to get another tech out to try to determine what the issue with the Tesla equipment is. Why couldn’t the other techs fix the issue. Terrible service making customers wait months to troubleshoot issues, get equipment fixed or replaced. This is in addition to my complaint review, I don't recommend Tesla Energy - Complaint 8.28.22, posted August 29, 2022.

Worst customer service ever

Worst customer service ever. I took over solar panels in Oct 2023 and half have never worked. You cannot make a service request for less than 2 months away and then they come out and do nothing but tell you you will need to make another 2 month away appt because they don't do roofs. Then next appt they remove a panel, leave it in the yard and give you only the message that you need to make another 2 month away appt. Still nothing to this day except making appts that never result in resolving the issue.

Horrible and complete lack of customer support

I should've gotten a hint about how Tesla Energy customer service is going to be from the experience I had during energy purchase process. Their preference for no human interaction is absurd!! I should have believed the ratings! Not even 1 year passes post my solar panel and battery installation, that I notice in the app that my system is not generating any power whatsoever. A complete shut down and it's been so for the past 12 days. Didn’t get a notification or nothing! I tried the so called customer support number , but wait time is over an hour, I had to leave my phone number for a callback. There is a chat option in the app but you wait 20 minutes for a chat agent, then the chat drops connection or they try to transfer you and the chat drops you and you have yo start the process from the beginning again! Both phone support and chat are only available during the weekdays. Like if energy generation only works during the week! Anyway, finally got somebody through chat to help me troubleshoot, no help; system is still down. They opened a case and said that it will take another 25 days for tier 2 support to review the case. OMG !! what kind of support is this? Tesla energy customer support has no understanding of customer needs, a sense of urgency, and doesn't act in a way to demonstrate they care about the customer. They're not even staffed to handle the amount of installations they have. My advice to energy customers, try to get Tesla products but use a different installer. Stay away from tesla energy!

Great cars AWFUL Solar energy

We love Tesla cars and the philosophy. We made a HUGE mistake in extending that trust to the solar energy unit. It has been the single worst customer experience we’ve had in fifty years. Buy the cars. Whatever you do, don’t order their solar system or you will go months and months awaiting the smallest inevitable repair.

terrible support

This is regarding support ticket C000C01A41I am a tesla solar customer. I've had it on my roof for over two years, as it was in place when I bought the house. I've monitored it's output with the tesla app.Got a new phone and couldn't get the app to show me my system. When I logged in it just tried to sell me a car and other products. I "worked with" Tesla support for over a week trying to address this. It boiled down to this: I could log onto Tesla on my laptop. You have to login to deal with support at all. But I couldn't login to the app on my phone. It'd tell me account is locked and not accessible, WHILE CONCURRENTLY LOGGED IN ON LAPTOP. They said it was two different systems. "One company, one login?", no, apparently not, as they don't have integrated systems. After much hassle and many delays, I logged into the app on the phone, but it just tries to sell me stuff. The "gateway" box next to my modem/router is on, no red lights, and support says they can see my solar monitoring, but it doesn't show up on my phone. I asked if there was any way to get my phone to manually "handshake" the gateway, as everything seems to indicate that the gateway and phone aren't talking to each other, but I'm told there's no way to do that.So in the end they say there's no problem "on their end". I can't see my solar monitoring but they can, and the implication is that something's wrong on my end, but there's nothing unique about my phone or anything. So they say they'll refer it to their "application team". They've done this twice already. They'd say to check back in three days, I'd do so, and find that NOTHING has changed. They did this twice, and now they're not even giving a timeline, just saying that the "app team" will email me when they have some clue. So clearly they have abandoned me. They believe its working perfectly, as they can see my solar panel monitoring, so its not their problem. They make mewling noises about being very concerned but they also seem to say nothing needs to be fixed, so there's no expectation on my end that they'd ever do anything about this ever again (not that they did anything in the first place). So sure, buy some Tesla solar panels. Just expect to be left high and dry as soon as there's a problem. These losers don't care, they dismiss you for days on end with promises of repair that amount to nothing, and straight-up shove you out the door when they're tired of trying to appear helpful.The experience has caused me to loathe this company and I implore you to avoid doing business with them.

3rd World Product and Service from Tesla Solar: Avoid at all costs

I paid CASH for a tesla solar system thinking i was dealing with a reputable company who understood customers and their needs. I have spent over $35k on their solar system and powerwall and just after 4 weeks the system has stopped working completely. Since discussing my issue with one of their "service" people i was told that my issue will be sent to their Tier 2 team, who, within 7 - 10 working days will contact me and get the problem fixed. Its now been 15 working days (thats over a month for normal people) and i have had ZERO response from ANYONE at Tesla. When i call in to ask i get a very rude person telling me i have no option but to wait for someone from Tier 2 to respond. Apparently Tier 2 are non customer facing and do not work on weekends. We are completely in their hands as to when our system can operate. I am absolutely dumbfounded with the way in which Tesla has dealt with my issue. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE save yourself the frustration and look for a company that values customers. After a month with no solar and no response from Tesla i will be looking at options of trying to retrieve my money back. They have sold me a lie. PLEASE NOTE: after 6 weeks of trying to find out when my system will be repaired i have been advised that Tesla Solar has NO customer service team outside the initial ones. This means if this department cannot fix your issue Tier 2 take over. You cannot communicate with them. They will not communicate with you. There is no one to complain to or to push the complaint to. THIS is Tesla's policy. Just wait until you hear from them and when that will be is not listed as a policy, in other words... tough luck...I am truly lost!! I hope this review steers you away from such an awful company and experience!!
