Dirty crockery and lack of good service. Shame as the cafe looks quite chilled and inviting. The strawberry lemonade tastes like liquid penicillin. Only given half an order initially and after waiting items not put on a tray. Unsure why I was expected to carry a pot of tea with cup and saucer and soft drinks. No common sense. Had to return to request milk as it was forgotten. Then at the table realised the cup was very dirty around top of the handle and the spout of the milk jug has regents of what looked like previous hone off milk. Shame but will not be returning.
Before eating my pastry I had been put off by the rude dismissive counter assistant. I felt an inconvenience not worthy of having basic manners used to tell me where to pay and only card payment taken. The staff seemed fluent in gruntish with the exception of slagging customers and there reviews off whilst smoky around the corner on their break, all they loudly said then was Very clear and not very kind about customers. Manners and customer care lacking in staff but unkind words about customers in abundance. It was unfortunate I’d sat down to write the review where staff smoked on the busy corner.Pasty cheap ingredients lacking in substance. Will not visit this shop again.☹️
Absolute JOKE dirty place, dirty looks and what a disgrace. There is nothing Cornish about over priced garbage served in Scotland. Tastless, do not take cash and just day light robbers AVOID AT ALL COSTS unless of course you have no taste buds and want to waste your money. The tables were filthy the toilets even more so. A Hygiene JOKE Disgusting
Hubby and I visited the Cornish Bakery yesterday ... The coffee was amazing (and I'm fussy with my coffee!) Service was great and the ladies serving were friendly and welcoming. I'd recommend without hesitation 😊 Thanks ladies!Wendy and Steve xx
The coffee was good but tables do not get cleared adequately. Was with a couple of friends this afternoon for the best part of an hour. In that time, I didn’t see a single table cleared or washed. Approximately half of the tables were full of empty plates & crockery. Perhaps there aren't enough staff or leadership is off but result is crappy. People having to clear their own tables - just not good enough..
I visited the Salisbury branch in the afternoon with my daughter, intending to pick up pastries for breakfast the following day.It was a few minutes before 5pm, when they close (though the opening times are not posted anywhere in the front of the store). As we were inches from the door, which was open, a staff member (young & female) who was clearing a table by the door, saw us, made eye contact with me, reached out, and slammed the door in my face.Needless to say I was astonished and rather embarrassed. I stood there for a couple of moments not quite willing to accept what had just happened. Another woman was standing outside the door, and she leant over to me and told me by saw what had happened, she was shocked, and she thought I should complain.I wrote to the company via the website describing what had happened. It took more than a week to receive a reply. The person replying said this wasn't the service expected and suggested I come back to the store and speak with them and get a pastry.Quite frankly, having been treated in such a manner, I had no wish to go back into the store and explain myself for the sake of a free croissant. If they want to get customers back through the door after being treated so badly they need to offer an actual incentive, rather than requiring them to justify themselves a second time to the staff in person. It was embarrassing enough to have a door slammed in my face, I don't think anyone should have to go cap in hand to make up for it. They were in the wrong. As it stands, I don't go there any more, and I don't advise others to do so either.
