It seems that I was matched by an algorithm with a person that was not competent to help. I am an academic with a very academic CV, considering a transition to the world of writing/editing/publishing. The contractor asked no questions about this in the initial conversations. The resume I received amounted to an abridged CV with a lot of typos, grammatical and style errors and even imported some strange information and roles that were not on my CV (such as being the class president at the institution where I received my masters degree. There's no such thing, nor did my CV have information like that). Any meaningful edits to the resume that did come, in terms of revisions that would reflect transferable skills, came from me. And given that I paid a lot of money for a professional who is supposed to know how to do this, you can understand that I was not confident that the final product reflected what Jobsauce advertised it would offer. When I asked for some more options for the title the resume was given under my name, the response was that because "I had no direct experience with the field" I wanted to pivot to, perhaps no title should be given. In other words, despite years of writing, editing, and work with publishers, this jobsauce person found no meaningful way to help me write a resume that would reflect my transferable skills. I know people who have had wonderful experiences with this company and who have sung its praises for what the resume did for them. So you can get a good product here. But in my case, it seems that it was a bad match with a person who was not competent to do the job.
Nicole was very kind and understood exactly what I was looking for in my resume. I could work on my resume for 5 years and still not accomplish what Nicole did in such a short and convenient period of time. I will be forever grateful and look forward to submitting my resume!
Nicole did an excellent job rewriting my resume! I'm changing careers and was overwhelmed with the thought of redoing my resume on my own. Nicole was so friendly, helpful and efficient. I'm very confident to use my new resume as I search for a new job, and I'm so grateful for Nicole and The Job Sauce as they helped me navigate through this process.
Nicole assisted me with a résumé upgrade, and I’m so glad she did! She was professional and communicative throughout the process, listen to my concerns, and answered my questions promptly. Now my résumé reflects specific, measurable achievements and I have a boost in confidence in my abilities.
I worked with The Job Sauce as a candidate and am glad I did. They initially reached out to me with a compelling job opportunity and were up-front about the compensation for the position. Eric conducted a screening interview to make sure it was a good potential mutual fit and prepped me for what to expect with the company. He didn't waste my time and was in touch with me throughout the process, always responding promptly. Once I got the job, a few sessions with a career coach (Debbie) were offered, which was a great touch and super helpful. Overall a great business model run by good people.
Scott and the Job Sauce team are amazing. Not only do they have a wide breadth of knowledge and skills but I was also incredibly impressed by the depth of their expertise and thorough understanding of the hiring and interview process. Would absolutely recommend them to anyone looking for help in this area!
Jobsauce was recommended to me by a family friend for a resume makeover at a reasonable price. I unfortunately didn't have a great experience. The person I worked with was named H. Spector. The beginning part of the process was fine with the google doc and answering questions/adding information. However after I answered all the questions, I had to reach out to her after 10 business days asking for an update. She replied trying to say she sent me an email that I didn't respond to-- but that wasn't true. She shared the new resume on gdocs and I saw that she imported the resume template the day I answered all the questions and then didn't touch it until I emailed her asking for an update. She spent 2 hours total working on it (version history tells all). I am a teacher trying to transition to a different career so it is important to take my skills and market them for the position I gave her. I had to ask about booking the consult call afterward also which she again tried to gaslight me into saying was already sent. Overall I was told my resume went from a 38% to a 78%-- the initial email says you should aim for above an 85%. In sum, she was very late getting my resume to me, it isn't up to the standard jobsauce itself recommends, and on top of that she tried to gaslight me to cover for her negligence. I also emailed Mr. Eric Fettner about my concerns and received no response. Teachers looking to transition out of teaching in particular, I recommend you use a different service-- thejobsauce treats people poorly and does a bad job.
I worked with Debbie and I found her to be knowledgeable, intelligent and highly organized. She gave me a lot of insight and completely revamped my resume. She also helped me tremendously with my linkedin profile. Ive already referred her!
A bit of a mixed experience. Initially things seemed positive and I got a draft that was much better written but didn't seem quite on the mark. I went out to ChatGPT to see what it thought a hiring manager was looking for in the role I was looking for. I shared this info with Nicole. Her reaction was not what I expected and was almost literally "You can go ahead and make changes related to this if you want". Not what I expected. After I made a big stink about this though things changed dramatically. She asked for feedback about what I thought were areas that the ChatGPT results highlighted as weaknesses from my perspective. I provided those and then we went through a couple of real quick iterations and ended up with a really excellent resume. I think the key is to be clear yourself what you want and then guide the resume writer. They can't know the job you are applying for better than you do. You really do get out what you put into the process. I'm pretty willing to push for that but if you're a little less comfortable with this then this might not work for you.
