Run fast, run far. They out and out lie during your sales call about the results you should get, the leads you receive, and what they are there to do. The information is very basic, common sense really. The leads you get are awful. During the sales call they make you think they are focused on helping you get the gigs but the leads are just random names, emails and phone numbers that you contact. Some had no correlation to what age group I am speaking to and some are bogus. The sales call is a total sham so don't believe ANY of what they say. Invest your money elsewhere or research on your own. Lots of complaints on this company, even on the BBB. I filed a complaint with the BBB as well. I feel totally scammed and want a refund! When I filed a report with BBB, a spokes person from TSL replied and said something about the sales call being recorded. News to me, so I asked to have the recording sent to me but they would not send it. OF COURSE...Also, when you try to reach out to the supposed owner of this site, he can't be reached. Even his own website is sketchy and you are led in a circle of nowhere trying to email him. I found an email through chatGpt for him. Lets see if he responds.
The Speaker Lab gave me that training and structure. It helped me think about warm leads vs. cold leads, how to bring past contacts to something new, how to structure proposals so both sides feel good, and how to set goals that are attainable. It showed me there are actual steps I could follow, and I didn’t have to figure it all out alone...I already had experience, but I was still so impressed with the detailed training on how to present, organize a talk, and behave on stage. Just becoming a better public speaker is a valuable skill for anyone, and The Speaker Lab teaches that—plus the marketing, business, and networking side...Also, the community. It’s active, intelligent, ambitious in a positive way, and very supportive. You get out what you put in, but it’s such a positive group with staying power.
Scam. They outright lie about what you are purchasing. Send you blank workbooks. You pay for a specialized niche result and then they send you to a phone call with one of their sales reps. They ignore all emails you sent them templates or refunds. Update: I wrote to the CEO and he kindly refunded me however I still believe that their sales tactics make it really difficult to get any real information because they upsell you every time you you purchase the next level -well, withholding the information and templates you thought you were buying . And now I have to pay another $497 to get a simple email template, after attending an hour long seminar.
For anyone who wants to make a business out of speaking, The Speaker Lab shows you how to do that—in an extraordinary way. I like the way the program steps you through everything with “snackable videos” short and interesting. I am impressed by the variety of support systems: the accountability calls, the live calls where you can listen to others in that module—those are very instructive...I feel empowered. I know what to do and how to do it. I’ve had a big speaking life for years, but have not always been paid. Now, I turn down unpaid gigs because I’ve learned, reinforced by Grant and the team, that my time, energy, and creativity are worth something.
I’ve already recommended The Speaker Lab to several people. Anytime I meet someone who wants to get into speaking, I tell them about The Speaker Lab. The framework gives you structure and organization. Honestly, I haven’t even done everything I’m supposed to do, and I’m still getting lots of business. Once you put the whole system together, the floodgates open.
