During our recent Hawaiian adventure, we arranged three different tours through a travel service – the full Road to Hana, a Volcano, Chocolate, and Waterfalls Tour, and the Oahu Grand Circle Island Excursion. The Road to Hana stood out as the highlight of our trip, yet all three experiences were absolutely fantastic. The service was wonderful to collaborate with, and communication was smooth. I wholeheartedly recommend them based on our recent experience.
We loved our Pearl Harbor Memorial, USS Missouri, and Bowfin tour! As a veteran and a historian, Emerson detailed the events leading up to Dec 7th, 1941 as well as that solemn day. He answered all our questions and we so enjoyed his company. He values history and keeping these events fresh in people’s minds so the souls lost on that day will never be forgotten. When researching tour companies, I saw many references to a “glorified taxi service”, meaning their guide picked them up from the hotel, told a brief story on the car ride, and then left them at the destinations. Emerson accompanied us on the USS Missouri and Bowfin and continued educating us all through these tours. He did not accompany us to the Memorial because they do not allow tour companies. Seeing the sunken USS Arizona should be a quiet, contemplative experience and the military personnel do a nice job reminding people of this. Emerson never just dropped us off. He managed the schedule for the entire day and educated us.
A must tour! Our awesome guide, Lui, gave our small group an amazing history lesson in the events leading up to December 7, 1941 and beyond. He has so much knowledge to share and it projected in his details expressed to us. We could tell he loves giving this tour. Thank you for a great day and thank you for your service to our great country! We would highly recommend this tour!
I would highly recommend using TravelShack. The tour is given and owned by veterans. It was by far the best tour we had on our vacation to Hawaii. Emerson was not only a great tour guide but also very personable and knowledgeable. The tour made it very easy to navigate and make sure we saw everything we wanted to see.

Luey is the BEST! He’s the real deal and obviously loves his job. He gave us a wild, completely nontraditional “tour” experience. He’s so knowledgeable about EVERYTHING Maui, Hawaii, Hana, the history, the plants, the wildlife, the culture, the locals only stuff, etc. He’s not just spitting out a script & facts, he’s living it & sharing those learned experiences. We got to see a sense of love in the Hana community that would’ve been impossible on our own & most likely with some of the other tour companies. Our whole day felt like we had jumped in the car with a friend who took us on a ride to show us his life and all the cool things about where he lives and people in his community. He even sings along with the radio, just like that friend we all have. We felt cared for & included in his community. He knows everyone and they know him. It was the best time and we made a new friend. If you’re down for a truly genuine experience & lots of laughs, ask for Luey.We’re traveling as a family of 6 (mom, dad, adult sons & girlfriends).
We had such a wonderful time! So glad I decided to take this tour instead of renting a car or going with the cruise tour. Meet up was super easy and then the drive was so amazing. We got to learn about the area and the history as well as eat some amazing Huli Huli chicken. We stopped along the way to view some of the sites up close and personal. Highly recommend to all!
Had the BEST experience with Olav as our guide for the Pearl Harbor Experience tour. He is the most knowledgeable, patient, professional guide my friends and I have ever had. We have traveled all over the world and truly feel as though Olav was unbelievable!!!
