I travelled from the United States to Ireland for medical treatment and booked here and added that I have a registered service animal. I arrived at the cottage and I had to call the owner of the property at least 15 times before I got a response. He told me there was an issue with my booking. Prior to this my money was taken and I had received confirmation emails my receipt and instructions on check in etc. I travelled 16 hours and drove from Dublin to the west of Ireland to be told my stay was cancelled. Hogans Irish cottages revealed the stay was cancelled due to having a service animal to which their website states that service animals are always allowed unless there was extenuating circumstances. I would advise everyone to avoid this company. They never reached out to tell me this I had to arrive and figure it out for myself and now out a lot of money with nowhere to stay with my service animal just shocking service and really disappointing experience

We stayed in a house in co.Clare. We encountered several problems,as follows; Firstly,the house had been changed from what it was like on their site.The single bedroom was converted to a two bunk bed configuration. Our 31 year old daughter had to sleep in one of the bunkbeds which are really for kids. Secondly,we had to share the house with landlady and daughter....that wasn't mentioned on their site. Also,two out of 4 rings on cooker were broken...landlady unable to fix. All windows were filthy. Rad in the bathroom not working. No teapot provided. Decor of house changed from that on site. Had we known of these problems,we wouldn't have booked house. Wrote letter to CEO of hogans...no way would they offer any kind of refund. Very bad customer relations policy.
We are cottage owners and use Hogans .We have good reviews.We have had cancellations due to death and illness. We as owners refuse to take payment in these cases and have told Hogans to refund the client ,and they have complied with our instructions.This is our experience.
I like the employee who wrote the unbiased review. It comes down to this, no refund even if Armageddon happens, I had alot things happen, I had booked with them before and was fine once nothing happened, booking with bookings.com I could of cancelled a hundred times over, I will never book with them again because stuff can and will happen and they will tell you no way. Thier policies are very strict on the customer tenant and very good to the owner, house owners should get them holiday makers stay away,
This is a scammer company which advertises houses to let for a fraction of the real cost. Look of daft.ie for examples and you will see plenty of houses advertised at €46 euros a week. The houses come with full very specific descriptions so it is not a blanket advert. Communication with Connor, who runs the facebook page has let to stonewalling. He not not know how nor whom to contact about the false advertising. I guess the company is too big lol. seeing so many other complaints about keeping payments - even after cancelling ten minutes later should show you everything you need to know about these people.
I have been with Hogans for 4 years and have found them excellent. They cannot be held responsible when they are only acting as agents for the home owner. And it's not fair for the home owner to possibly lose a weeks let and to re arrange a new let. It is the responsibility of the customer to have adequate holiday insurance in place to cover these possible eventualities.
I think that blaming Hogans for charging when people cancel a holiday is unfair. The home owner is not running a charity and the reasons for canceling a trip are relevant to each customer. I am a cottage owner and is it fair to expect me to loose a weeks income because someone can't take the holiday they booked. I find the company very professional and have never had any problems in the 10 years I have been with them.
Worst Customer Service ever, Booked a cottage and within six minutes cancelled the booking but they are keeping the full payment they just keep referring to T&C. I not sure this part of the refund policy would legally seen as fair in its application. Despite the Consumer Rights Act and the Distance Selling Act the company think their T&C are reasonable. I am not surprised the CMS became involved in their practices during Covid. I intend exploring s75 CRA in respect of recouping this money.
As the owner of the rented property informed me that she was away and I did not want to spend time on my holiday making a complaint. I took photos of the issues and contacted Hogans Irish Cottages on my return home. They contacted the owner who said as I didn't raise the issues during my stay that she was not willing to discuss. To resolve the issues in the property would have involved a carpenter, plumber, electrician, painter and a cleaner.Hogans Irish Cottages totally wiped their hands of any responsibility. One of their male Customer Relations Team members hung up the phone on me. Coincidently, the property (Falls View, Kenmare) is no longer available for rental through Hogans Irish Cottages.I am sure the company must have also have responsible property owners however if you have any issues or complaints I would have zero expectation of customer satisfaction in dealing with the company.Hang your heads in shame Hogans Irish Cottages with 90%+ negative reviews!!!
