Wonderful experience at the castle hotel.

I had a wonderful experience at the castle hotel. The Christmas village and lights were amazing. All the staff were exceptional. As someone with a disability, I used both a mobility scooter and a wheelchair, which worked out perfectly. The elf who assisted me to room 333 on November 29th was fantastic. Thank you to everyone!

Fantastic stay at the castle hotel and festive village

We had a fantastic stay at the castle hotel. The festive village and lights were amazing. All the staff were exceptional. As someone with mobility challenges, I found the use of a scooter and wheelchair very helpful. The elf who escorted us to room 333 on November 29th was wonderful. Thank you to everyone!

Disappointing Halloween experience

I paid a significant amount for three adult tickets for the Halloween event on November 1st. I was very disappointed. There were just a few people on stilts and not much else. The dungeon felt like a daytime visit. Our meal of nuggets and chips, along with drinks, cost nearly £42! Overall, we spent over £150 for a couple of hours of lackluster entertainment. I doubt I would return after last year's experience.

Mixed feelings about our visit

Our first visit to the castle left me with mixed feelings. I had high expectations, but it felt like there wasn't much to do. Several attractions were closed, and we could only explore the ground floor, which was limiting. We enjoyed the bird show, which was incredible! The mill was beautiful, and we did the maze, but otherwise, it was quite dull. There were also unruly school kids in the tower, which was frustrating. I won't be returning; it feels like a waste of money.

We adore this castle and keep returning

We adore this castle and visit frequently; it's always a fantastic day out. However, the food vendors could improve cleanliness and efficiency to avoid long waits.

Great day at the castle

My partner and daughter visited the castle this week and had an excellent time. They arrived at 10 AM and left at 5 PM, wishing they had more time to see everything. The staff were wonderful, making it a worthwhile visit during the summer holidays.

Pricey but worth it if you enjoy everything

Many have complained about the pricing and quality, and my son was initially skeptical, fearing it might be a rip-off, but he ended up pleasantly surprised. We are a family of six and didn't book in advance, yet we found it to be good value. Show times were clearly listed and followed one another—jousting, falconry, and trebuchet displays were all professionally executed. The castle's history and dungeons were engaging, with talented actors. It was crowded, but we managed to find space without excessive waiting. The café was relatively busy, but prices were reasonable. Charging for parking felt a bit excessive, but overall, it was a great finale to our holiday, and seeing the trebuchet fired was a highlight.

Enjoyable entertainment at the castle hotel

This review focuses on the entertainment at the castle hotel, which was a fantastic evening with knights and a princess. My son loved it, and the performers were incredibly energetic and dedicated. We returned because of their commitment. A special mention to the archer, who was friendly and recreated a photo from last year with us. The food at the main restaurant was good—expensive but fresh and tasty. I can't recommend this hotel experience highly enough; the bedtime story was also engaging and far from a quick children's tale. It was a full 20-minute story, filled with energy.

Feeling cheated by ticket pricing

I spent £62 on two tickets online, only to see an ad shortly after for tickets at just £15 each. I feel completely cheated, and this has tainted my experience before even visiting. Avoid paying more than £15 per ticket.

Overpriced admission and food

It took us 30 minutes to get through security from the car park (the bus ride was as long as the walk). Prices for food and drinks were excessively high (£4.25 for a takeaway tea, £4.75 for a soft drink, and £7.50 for a subpar pizza). There wasn't enough seating to enjoy our overpriced meals or take breaks. Parking cost £7, which wasn't clearly stated during booking, and the GPS location for the lot was hard to find. The age limit for the dungeon tour should be at least 13; the kids in our group struggled to handle it. There was no seating for the trebuchet display, and viewing for the bird show was blocked by a tree. The app was frustrating—links were broken, show info was sparse, and it kept indicating I was offline when I wasn't.
