Passed with 3 minor faults. Many thanks to Spencer teaching me, not just how to pass the test but how to also be a competent and aware driver. He's highly experienced and it reflects in his teaching. Would highly recommend💪
My experience with Alexxa at West School of Motoring was extremely disappointing and easily the worst I have had with a driving instructor.
During lessons, she was frequently on her phone, which felt unprofessional and distracting. Her teaching style was condescending and unmotivating, often using sarcasm rather than encouragement. Instead of building confidence, it consistently did the opposite.
Communication was also an issue. Instructions were often whispered and, combined with her accent, difficult to understand at key moments. When I did not know something such as a show me tell me question, I was made to feel uncomfortable rather than helped.
The most concerning issue occurred one week before my test. Despite knowing my test date well in advance, she refused to let me use her car, stating that she did not want a fail on her record. I went on to pass my test regardless, but this decision caused unnecessary stress and cost me over £400 to arrange another car at the last minute.
Overall, the lack of professionalism, support, and judgement made this a very poor experience. Learners deserve better guidance during such an important process.

I passed my driving test first time at Hornchurch Test Centre with only one minor, and I couldn’t be happier! Spencer has been my instructor since March 2025, and learning with him each week has been a great experience. He has been consistently patient, supportive, and encouraging, always helping me correct my mistakes and become a safer, more confident driver.I’m certain I wouldn’t have achieved my pass without Spencer’s excellent instruction.If anyone is looking for a driving school, I highly recommend Wests School of Motoring.
STAY CLEAR OF WESTS DRIVING SCHOOL.(Staying anonymous for safety) I was looking for a professional approved driving instructor around my area until I landed on Phil West's Driving school. Looking at all those 5 star reviews made me think he's reliable. Its not. Most of these are fake or forced.Upon my first lesson with him he sent me all these unnecessary papers and folders, overcomplicating driving heavily. Next, after the first taster lesson, he immediately asked me which dates I want booked in, pushing me for a block booking immediately. Over the coming months, he repeatedly pressured me about booking in more blocks, weeks prior before I could even know if I would be free on those days, then making me feel terrible and stressed if I missed payments or something as simple as cancelling or re-scheduling lessons. Very manipulative. This school is very money driven.I ended up having 40+ hours with him, slowly realising he is keeping me around for a stable income. He NEVER took me to any test routes despite knowing which area i will be taking the test in. I only got onto the main roads after 20 hours. Very unprofessional too, every 10 minutes of driving we'd pull over and just talk while he smokes.Made something I am passionate about into stress anxiety and overcomplicated everything to keep me around for cash.I was getting worried when he couldn't be bothered to get me a test, seemed like he had no plans of passing me. So, I had a taster lesson with a new school and immediately gained my confidence back. They were shocked to find out I had this many hours and haven't been to a single test route yet. I then dropped him and moved on with the new instructors. He was very passive aggressive with his tone when I did. Whats more is they booked my test for me immediately and after two months with them I passed first time.To put it simply, steer clear from this place. I lost so much money and time because of this money hungry business, led by an arrogant, manipulative, unprofessional instructor.
Wests Driving school are extremely great !!! Their instructors are so kind and have great teaching methods. They don’t only teach you how to pass the test but genuine road skills and knowledge. If you are driving automatic I highly recommend Drita, she is lovely and very patient with you.
I had an excellent experience with Wests driving school. I was lucky enough to be under the supervision of Phil West, he made me feel so safe and so confident on the roads. He is an excellent instructor who takes the time to know his learners and understand how they learn. Phil got me to test standard where I was able to pass first time and also secure many life valuable skills along the way. I could not recommend Wests driving school highly enough!!
I took up lessons with Phil from Wests school of driving at the beginning of April 2025 with a driving test at Chingford test centre fast approaching in early June. Prior to this I had some driving experience but hadn’t driven for over 6 months so was starting from fresh. Thanks to Phil’s excellent driving skills and teaching methods, he was able to get me where i needed to be in 2 months to be road ready, and pass first time with him. It was a great experience learning with him and he was easy to get along with and was patient when I made mistakes and helped me learn from them. I would highly recommend for new drivers and people returning to lessons.
