Only two online distributors carried the product I was looking for and bestsharpeningstones.com was cheaper by about $7. Despite the constant negative press cov, I saw a few positive experiences so decided to give it a shot.Ordered on a friday, my card got charged. Given the negative press, I was worried about a scam immediately since I got no email. Patience prevailed however, and I decided to maturely wait until at least monday before acting like the world was ending.Sunday evening. Still no email or anything. A bit worried. Monday morning, I wake up to a notification and a tracking number. Despite my unnecessary anxiety, shipping out a Friday order Monday morning is actually completely normal and timely. The order arrived well packaged in new condition. You see, I was basically expecting Amazon level service from some random online distributor. I'm pretty sure this is just a one-man operation, or very small at the least. This means you have a great opportunity to communicate with the owner & operator of the company, but if any outside circumstances demand his attention, some orders might get delayed. I am guessing some emergency circumstances or suspected scammers (note the dollar amounts & demands, my order was small) are to blame for the situations complained about in most reviews and most people who have a good transaction just don't take the time to write a trustpilot review.TLDR: 4 out of 5 (-1 for lack of auto notifications), but rated 5 to counteract the unreasonable negativity bias since I had almost no issues with the transaction.
Ordered a Hard Arkansas stone and a Black Arkansas stone in labeled wooden boxes. The Black stone is supposed to be a harder, smoother stone than the Hard stone but they sent me a coarse stone in the Black stone box. I didn't figure this out until I had already used both stones (with oil) and their web site says they do not accept returns after being used. You can't call them directly and they don't respond to emails or messages left with the answering service. Do some checking, you'll find lots of bad reviews of this company. Buyer beware.
I have ordered and payed products for over EUR 150. I have got no confirmation and nothing was sent to me during the next two months. I have got no reply after contacting them on two of their official email addresses. Fortunately PayPal are way more correct and after rising a dispute they have refunded my payment.
Unlike other reviews, I had a great experience! Received my items 2 days after I ordered them. They even responded to my email the next business day. The only place I’ll order my ultra sharp diamond plates from, from here on out.
Great website and diverse product lines. Really good communication before sale… within an hour each time. OOne of my 2 items (same item, different grits) came on an oversized box that is completely nonfunctional, and different from the other item. The stones, themselves, aren’t bad. Repeated attempts to contact Mike have gone unanswered: two emails, website contact form, and message at answering service… which, oddly, is the only phone contact method.Mistakes are understandable; not responding to customers is not.UPDATE: Although Michael Poe eventually responded and promised to replace the defective box, he has not yet done so. And he is, once again, not responding to repeated emails requesting status. The pattern is clear… not an ethical business man.
Stay away from this shady place. I dropped around $250 on five Diamond Sharpening Stones that all arrived looking used. I wrote a lengthy email to them with a photo attached of one of the items asking for a call back to discuss the order. I reached out to them numerous times by phone to discuss their return policy. Ten days later, I'm still awaiting a response. Nothing. No one answers the business phone except an answering service and they confirmed my messages were getting received. It's as if they were intentionally unloading secondhand items hoping it wouldn't be noticed. Who does this stuff?Do yourself a favor and avoid these folks like the plague.
I got my item and it was fine. Nothing awesome, but I am not upset with what I was sent. I should note that everything is around the measurement stated but it is around +- 0.05 for their Arkansas stones. Broke my 8x2 soft Arkansas after it fell of the bench but that is on me!
