Do not waste your time with this…

Do not waste your time with this service.Just clicking on some of their links can get you inadvertently signed up for a paid subscription, an exceedingly deceptive practice. Ladders positions itself as listing above average salary jobs, when most are not. They will also post jobs that no longer exist in order to get you to sign up for a payed membership. There is near zero follow up from the company for your applications.Do not waste your time with an employment company the Glassdoor notes has it's own problems with employee turnover, inconsistent business practices, and problematic freelancer relationships.

Refused to Pay for Delivered and Published Work

I worked with The Ladders as a freelance writer from late 2023 through mid-2025. While communication and workflow were acceptable at first, things took a turn when two of my monthly invoices went unpaid — despite the articles being submitted, accepted, and published. When I followed up professionally, I was met with retroactive accusations and legal threats. Many of the assigned topics were nearly identical (e.g., keyword variations), and the editorial guidance encouraged tools like Surfer SEO — but that’s now being used against me. This experience left me feeling devalued and exploited. Proceed with extreme caution if you’re a freelancer or contributor.

Waste of time and money, Nothing but frustration

I am big on following my instinct, but sometimes I need to go with what the previous reviews on a business said, and this is a prime example of that. Ladders is nothing but a rip-off. They will miss some key achievements on your resume, and when you reach out, they will send you endless emails to justify the nonsensical, but add the specific accomplishment you are asking for. I paid for a professional Resume touch-up and LinkedIn profile update 2 weeks ago, and I am still to date running after them to get my resume fixed. Do not waste your money, AI will do a better job than they will, and promptly.

Prompt customer service leading to a quick resolution

What made my experience great is that the Ladders customer service rep who handled my inquiry responded promptly to each email question and follow-up question I had, and she quickly, courteously, and satisfactorily resolved my issue.

Absolutely terrible service and…

Absolutely terrible service and customer service. I did the professional bundle assuming that someone would contact me to go over the resume. When I realized that that was not going to happen (almost immediately) I requested a refund within minutes. They did not get back to me for days and then delivered the resume. It was terrible. They just put a ton of buzzwords at the top in order to flag ATS systems, I guess, but if a human looked at it, it is obviously ridiculous. They also added bullets and skills that were not listed in or resume elsewhere (and not even close synonyms). The LinkedIn “optimization” was just a poorly copy and pasted version of the terrible resume. The bullet points were badly formatted with both dashes and bullets. The headline was absolutely ridiculous, as it was just those some buzzwords from the resume. The kicker is that you can’t preview the LinkedIn optimization, so in order to see the work you have to upload it to your LinkedIn- DO NOT DO THIS!!! You can’t go back, so you’ll have to spend over an hour undoing this. This site should definitely be shut down. I am embarrassed this happened to be, but hoping to help others here. Don’t let it happen to you.

Barbara dela Paz - Rock Star

Barbara dela Paz was extremely patient and knowledgeable and helped me fix a problem with my Apply4Me feature of my TheLadders account. Eve though my computer skills were slow she took the time to walk me through the issue and solve it. As I used to say in the Navy - Bravo Zulu! (that means...well done!)
