Paid for a 3 vaccine package, I got two of them and then they canceled the third round of vaccine. They never followed up for the third vaccine and just canceled the $400 package. I showed up to complete it and they demanded another $100 to complete it. The staff recognized the mistake and said it was my fault even though they never followed up and had changed my email to prevent any notifications. Scammy practice would recommend a real vet.
This animal hospital is a joke.Very rude front desk associates. My friend brought her furbaby cat in for a free exam and a complete new exam wasn’t even done completely. They didn’t check her lungs or heart or ears. The cat has a lump and they automatically wanted to do a biopsy to check for cancer without even explaining what types of cancer they were looking for !My friend explained her financial situation when inquiring how much the biopsy would cost ; my friend explained what funds she had , including her Care Credit credit card. They then said there was two different biopsy tests they could do after they found out the financial situation of my friend . This Vetco in Turlock California also did not inform us that they would have to send the sample out to another lab; yet the website boasts they can handle emergency situations! Not even true!!!!So my friend goes to check out and pay at the front desk and she was told that she couldn’t get the free new patient exam waived because she was using her care credit credit card and told her she needed to use a real credit card?????What kind of BS is this?My friend is disabled and was already very upset and worried about her furbaby only to be treated rudely by the front desk staff and manager!!!!!How do we know a biopsy was even done? How do we know they would even send the slides out to another lab?We are very disappointed and disgusted with this pet hospital as well as PETCO in general! My friend has contacted the Better Business Bureau and is currently waiting on their response after getting no help from the corporate office!Do yourself and your furbabies a favor; go to an actual pet hospital with veterinarians that have experience and know what they are doing! We refuse to take any other pets there for Vet Care and we also will not be buying anything from PETCO stores ever again! We would give no stars or negative stars if we could!
I made an appointment with the hospital and waited all day to show up and find out it was transferred to the vaccination clinic. I could have been trying to take my cat to a different vet and now my cat is suffering for longer because of vetco’s system. I checked my account and it said I made the appointment with the hospital. I tried to complain and got blocked from sending a message. I called and cried on the phone explaining the situation just for the person to say “have a good day, my name is Mary” then hang up on me.
I am submitting a formal complaint regarding unethical practices at Vetco, located within Petco at 921 Harley Strickland Blvd, Orange City, FL, and a potentially fraudulent animal rescue associated with them. Below is my complaint, which I previously sent to Petco Customer Relations. On February 14, 2025, I brought my cat, Ophelia, to Vetco after she ingested a cord. The attending veterinarian informed me she required immediate surgery, but after reviewing an X-ray on their phone, they left, and I never saw them again. Instead, a veterinary technician, Cheyenne, returned with a surgery quote between $2,104.95 and $2,930.95—excluding imaging and examination fees, bringing the total cost close to $4,000.Due to ongoing medical expenses from a recent thyroid cancer diagnosis, I expressed financial concerns. Rather than being offered financing options, Cheyenne told me my only choices were to surrender Ophelia to a rescue that would cover the costs or euthanize her. I explicitly stated I did not want euthanasia but was not given any alternative financial solutions. When she asked if I had CareCredit, I misunderstood it as a clinic membership rather than a credit line, and no application or financial aid guidance was offered.Feeling helpless, I surrendered Ophelia, believing it was the only way to save her life. That evening, I called Vetco to check on her and was told she had been transferred to the rescue but was "picked up and that should give you an idea of how she is doing," leading me to believe she had received the surgery. The next day, I found no mention of Ophelia on the rescue’s (Kenzie’s Kitten Rescue) Instagram page. By February 16, I secured the full $4,000 for her care and contacted the rescue’s operator, Kenzie, offering to pay and reclaim her. Kenzie initially said she would consult her "board," but later stopped responding.Further investigation revealed disturbing discrepancies:Kenzie publicly stated the rescue lacked funds for Ophelia’s surgery, contradicting what I was told at Vetco. She also stated that her cost for the surgery was 700-900, less than 1/3rd what I was quoted for the same procedure. She falsely claimed on social media that I requested euthanasia for Ophelia, which is libelous. She admitted on Instagram that her er GoFundMe was flagged and donations forcibly refunded, raising concerns about financial misconduct. She identified herself on Facebook as a Vetco employee, creating a conflict of interest as she facilitates pet surrenders and then solicits donations for their care. After multiple calls to Vetco corporate, I was finally connected with a clinic manager, Holly, who admitted their technician should have informed me about financing options but shifted responsibility to the rescue.I believe I was coerced into surrendering Ophelia under false pretenses, and Vetco’s failure to disclose financial options contributed to this distressing outcome. The rescue’s practices raise serious ethical and legal concerns.I request an investigation into Vetco’s financial disclosures, their relationship with Kenzie’s Kitten Rescue, and the return of Ophelia, as my surrender was not made with full informed consent. I am filing formal complaints with all relevant regulatory bodies.
Horrible customer service. You literally can not speak to anyone that has real answers. They can schedule an appointment or send you an address, but that is about it. The previous review said to take your pet to a real vet and I completely agree!
Follow up: I'm changing my review to 1 star. I finally heard back from management Caitlin Griffith and all she did was gaslight me and make excuses for the vets decision to not fully explain the situation or follow standard treatment. She acted like it was normal my cat suffered an extra 10 days due to her clinic not offering me pain meds, not offering the surgery, not offering to drain his ear. They wanted it to heal naturally, which is never a guarantee and literally ruins their ear. They can get extreme ear deformities called cauliflower ear if it's left untreated. IN ADDITION, if a hematoma is not treated surgically it is guaranteed to come back. None of this was explained by Dr. Tatum. I had to learn all of this by calling around and getting second opinions! Not to mention, the second appointment I made with their vet the girl up front changed my appointment to seeing a vet tech without my permission because despite my cat being in obvious pain and my clear distress they didn't feel it was important that he see the vet that I scheduled the appointment online to see. They changed it and didn't bother informing me until the appointment was half complete. So, no apology beyond "I'm sorry you feel this way but..." No attempt to reimburse the money they did not earn. 500$ and all they did was a steroid shot and pain pills. The trip to the EMERGENCY AFTER HOURS VET WAS CHEAPER. Seriously, if you love your animal and want them to be healthy and not fkn deformed with chronic ear issues from malpractice then I recommend taking them ANYWHERE but here. I've been using PETCO for 20 years and this is how they treat a member of my family and show appreciation for my business? My advice is DO NOT GO HERE. Take your beloved pet family member to Conroe Emergency Vet over next to Target. They are kind, quick, way waaay more affordable and most of all aren't just some big corporation out to rob you blind while your pets health deteriorates as they suffer in pain. I'm reporting them to the BBB straight up. Miss Caitlin and how much she will interrupt, talk over you, raise her voice and repeat herself. She will do anything but listen or act like she cares what happened to your animal at all. She is completely unprofessional and lacks empathy or compassion as she's too concerned about hearing herself and being right than listening or trying to put herself in someone else's shoes. Her personality is spiteful and so rude. She mentioned I left early the 2nd appointment and I told her my father in law had a heart attack while I was there and I got the phone call at the end of the appointment as I was paying. No sorry to hear that, just ignored it and kept talking over me. ‐---I gave two stars because the staff was very nice. However, I scheduled an appointment for my MCoon to get his ear infection looked at that had a pretty big hematoma. They gave him meds but didn't drain the ear. I came back two days later because his ear was twice the size it was before only to be told they didn't need to drain it and only after I asked did they give us some gabapentin. I was told it would take about five days to heal. Well, over the weekend it got even bigger with red striations. So after already spending 400$ at vetco I had to take him to the ER in the middle of the night. There is no after hours service at vetco or follow up care. Their machine says to call an ER in Spring that is incredibly expensive compared to the one here in Conroe in addition to being further away. Anyway, the ER Vet was furious they didn't drain his ear. He says my cat was in so much pain for two weeks needlessly. That the first thing you do for a hematoma dog or cat is drain it to relieve pressure. I am so upset! I asked the vetco people at BOTH VISITS MULTIPLE TIMES WHY IT WASN'T BEING DRAINED. I was told it would go away on its own. The vet barely spent 5 minutes with my cat, if indeed a vet saw him at all because they take your animal to the back to be examined. I'm telling you that I'm looking into this vets license and I'm reporting them to the BBB.
I purchased a Kitten Pro Shield Package at the cost of $200. My kitten got out of the house and lost. The package included microchipping, vaccinations, worming and testing for feline leukemia. I called because the microchip number was not found on the vital records report. As it turns out, they did not microchip either of the kittens I paid for and took to all three visits. I do not recommend anyone use this service for a pet that you care anything about.
The only good thing is that they have alot of appointments available. BUT if they aren't going to help your pet then it's useless. Sent my dog home without any cough meds because she couldn't hear his heart due to him squirming..well first of all he should have been in the room with me and he would've been fine...She stated that they can do an xray with sedation to see what his heart is doing..No ill get a vet that knows what the hell they are doing! Which is what I did..took him to Banfield he stood rt there and let her check his heart and lungs with no problem...the tech held him and that was it! Got the cough medicine that I needed..always follow your gut and get a second opinion folks! He won't be back there.
