Let me tell you my story
I’ve been using the app since February 2025, so it’s been about a year now, and I can confidently say it helped my wife and me bring balance to our finances.
Before our financial wake up, we were two people earning money every month, but we had a lot of expenses we didn’t fully realize. It always felt like we weren’t saving anything, or worse, like we were spending more than we earned. I even burned through three great bonuses just paying off credit cards. Every time I received my money it felt like the money dissapeared from my bank account paying debts. Looking back, I really wish I had started using this app earlier. Every salary increase simply became more money to spend, when my mindset should have been “more money to save.”
Can I say that I’m an expert using the app? Nope. I actually struggled with it at the beginning, and now I feel very confident using it. By the way, I’m from South America and I can’t connect to any bank, so I do everything manually, but that’s OK. Even doing manual tracking, the app still works great and forces me to stay aware of every movement.
What stands out to me versus other apps:
- Full web application: this is VERY important to me
- Ability to share your budget with someone else
- Training webinars
- Mobile application
Since using it, I’ve gone from saving 0% of my salary to 10%, and now around 20%, with the goal of pushing that even higher. Things feel different today, and this app played a big role in that shift. I feel relieved.
Long story short, the app works because it makes you fully aware of the money you receive, every coin you spend, and how you categorize your expenses. That visibility helped me realize I could do much more with my money.
Today, I have zero credit card debt. If I use my card, I pay it off right away. I’m finally in a position where I can say I’m probably the bank’s worst client 😉
I truly wish I had begun using this budgeting tool years ago. Initially, I believed that a stable income was necessary to start budgeting and thought I was managing my finances wisely. This service has transformed my perspective. For jobs that are commission-based or rely on apps, it genuinely assists you in setting and achieving your goals instead of confining you to circumstances beyond your control. The only drawback is the learning curve, but anything worthwhile requires effort.
I needed something to work with home budgeting and with bulgarian LEV. I have also Quicken for USD. I have bank accounts both in USA and Bulgaria.One thing : I would like if YNAB had a better way to keep yearly files. With Quicken it works very well. I am not used to ding that with YNAB yet. iT is good softawre though.
Always felt like I was not doing my best with money before YNAB. Years of making more and more money, but I was always living paycheck to paycheck.With YNAB, I can easily track my net worth and make sure it moves in the right direction. Approving all transactions saved me from some forgotten subscription and made me more aware of my spending habits.Now a little more than a year after I sarted with YNAB, my relationship with money is completely changed and I feel 100% in control.Well worth the 150$ yearly subscription. Would recommend anyone that feels stressed or not in control about money to try it out
YNAB has made it so much easier to save up for the things we really want and still have money for the boring things like flat tyres and dentist visits. YNAB also have so many good articles, videos and podcasts to help if you feel stuck and on top they are also very friendly if you need to ask further questions
YNAB has been a substantial change in my personal finances. It is very easy to use, and the videos by Hannah and the rest of the YNAB team are excellent. I would like to highlight two aspects that are essential for me: 1) the trial period lasts more than a month and allows you to use all of YNAB's features, which meant I could use the full YNAB package from day one; 2) the quality and speed of the technical support team's responses and follow-up have been exceptional and excellent. Keep providing this excellent service and product!!! I congratulate you on the product and service, which I have subscribed to with the greatest pleasure. It is the best money I have ever invested in personal finance.
