I needed to cancel my motor policy and 1st direct seemed to do everything possible to stop me doing that.
I tried via the web site 4 times and always got the same "sorry something went wrong" I tried through the app and got the same result 3 times. I also tried through their chat facility which took close to an hour to get nowhere. There customer service is atrocious.
I called 1st Central to discuss a few things on behalf of my Dad and his car insurance. The agent Leeson was BRILLIANT. He was patient and considerate and resolved every query. What I had anticipated being a frustrating experience was the opposite thanks to him. Highly recommend for customer service.
Keep away from this company at all costs!
Charged me an £421 in the middle policy for a claims history and my premium when from £70 to £111. They also charged an administration fee for this change. When I wanted to cancel the policy the total cost was £263 including a ridiculous £50 arrangement charge as admin fees for starting the policy and another £50 for asking charge for cancellation of the policy.
as like every one the price was right and was easy to you the Web page and didn't bother looking when the renewal came through as it didn't go over board not had to phone any one so can't answer that question
Once l had chosen the type of car insurance l wanted it was so easy to to complete the this task and pay.
All the documents were sent to me on line ,l would have preferred them to be sent to me in paper form and the other point was having to contact them for green card EU cover when needed as there was no contact tel number or link to do this,otherwise 1st Central offer great cover and a good price
Good company, this is not the first time I am with them, few years ago was a costumer also. Still can not understand why loyalty not rewarded and every year have to look for new insurance company as auto renewal prices always higher than year ago, but this is overall insurance strategy in uk , not just this company
Worst insurance company ever! Kept sending me threats to cancel when I was breaking no laws and paying them. Cancelled without speaking to me about it. Charged me a cancellation fee on top of that. Money making scheme! Absolutely ridiculous. I would give 0 stars if I could! Avoid this company!!!
My car was hit and written off and you guys were his insurance company, from the moment I’ve spoken with anyone from this company they have been kind, understanding and really helpful also knowledgeable with all my questions. They have made a stressful situation a lot easier to deal with. We’re also very prompt with sorting my daughters new car seat!!

Absolute joke of a company.
Just because I made a small error on my first instance QUOTE, accidently picked the wrong option from their DROP DOWN list, which I changed immidietly when selecting insurance and actually applying for it. They then assumed I was lying and wanted to know the ins and outs of a cats arse hole, about my partners job - all of which is on company’s house if they really wanted details! He isn’t even the policy holder. Lady was SO rude and sarcastic, talking like I was thick. Then decided she needed to speak to said partner and told me he needed to ring. Fine… he rings next day and after holding 20 mins is told he cannot speak to them as I haven’t authorised it. So if this woman had done her job properly she would have sorted this the day before as SHE was the one wanting to speak to him! Diabolical customer service and if I wasn’t over my 14 day cooling off I would have told them to stuff their insurance! I’d rather pay more for a decent service and staff !! Not only that, but my Ncd was sent over exactly as they and asked and displayed everything they asked. She then rejected this and said it needed to be in a different format. Yes they wait till cooling off period has passed before contacting you accusing you of lying etc! Just to gain more money. If they try to add admin changes onto my account I will definitely cancel mine
