Predatory business with deceptive practices. They engage in a classic bait and switch:
- You make a reservation.
- You show up, and nobody's insurance qualifies, so you're forced to pay an extra $60/day for their insurance.
- Then, based on the state of your driver's license, you'll be limited to 50 mi, even though your reservation was for unlimited miles.

Dirty, scammy business. We must put them out of business.

Warning! This service is dishonest!

Warning! This service is dishonest! I had the worst car rental experience ever. They canceled my reservation without any notice as soon as I entered their office. I wasted nearly 2 hours waiting! The agent then directed me to another representative for a new rental. I wasn't the only one facing issues; there was another customer arguing about his cancellation when I arrived. I strongly advise avoiding this situation!

The most frustrating experience I've had with a rental service.

This was the most frustrating experience I've encountered with a rental service. There were numerous hidden fees involved. I booked through a travel service, assuming everything was settled except for a standard deposit. I paid $120 through that service but ended up shelling out an extra $430 for their mandatory policies, along with a $300 deposit. It feels like a scam.

America Car Rental took the guesswork out of our travel to Tulum (Nov 2025). They were conveniently located at the airport terminal, friendly, spoke English and for all the things I had not considered (additional insurance) they had several convenient options. The make and model of my rental was new and enjoyable to drive. When the check engine light appeared halfway through our trip, a replacement was readily available and substituted. The second vehicle was similarly in great condition, fuel efficient and easy to drive. The folks at America Car Rental were thorough and kind at every interaction. I highly recommend. I found America CR through Travelocity and definitely will rent from here again!

My airplane was delayed more than 2…

My airplane was delayed more than 2 hours. America car rentals picked me up from the airport and transported me to their remote location. Once there they informed me they had canceled my reservation because of my delay even though I had already paid. I asked what it would cost to update my reservation and they quoted me a price of more than 400% of original. I felt like I was getting worked the entire time and now that they had you away from the airport they would take full advantage. Luckily I found sixT car rental and they helped me out with professional personal and fair pricing.

Good experience, good car.

Very clever clerks at counter helped me navigate between insurance requirement locally and what was sold to me over Expedia. Car good, return was easy. Recommended over Hertz and Avis.

This is the worst car rental company…

This is the worst car rental company I’ve ever dealt with. We were told the rental price would be $35 plus taxes and fees come to find out after all they added. It was almost $200 for one day car rental. The place is only open 9 AM to 8 PM. When we returned at 9 AM to return the vehicle, nobody was there so we ended up waiting for 20 minutes to return the car. They charged us for the tolls easy pass, which we never even went through tolls. But they insisted that we have it otherwise we may go through a toll and be charged $50. The car’s check engine light was on. And the place is in a shady place off airport property.

I rented the vehicle in good faith

I rented the vehicle in good faith. Took 15 minutes from the Orlando Airport to Rental Car location. Once I was there, I was informed that I needed to have $500,000 dollars in property damage on my insurance in order to rent the vehicle. Which cost me an additional $300.00 on top of my original quote. This experience felt misleading and unfair, I will say the Associate Daniel that helped us was very professional and was patient while we tried to figure out what to do. Ultimately, we did rent the vehicle, but I will not rent from this company again.

America Car Rental - awful company

I had an incredibly disappointing and frustrating experience with America Car Rental in Cancun. They misrepresented their services and provided a subpar vehicle. I had booked an automatic VW Golf or an equivalent, but instead, I was given a manual Renault that felt cheap, was infested with ants, and was in poor condition on the outside.When I raised my concerns about receiving a manual car despite paying for an automatic, I was told that the only available automatic was an additional $75 per day, or they would cancel my reservation. The car I received was uncomfortable, making me feel every bump on the road, and the air conditioning was unreliable.I also attempted to address my concerns via email, but my complaints were ignored. Overall, I felt powerless and frustrated with their service! The price I paid was good but you cannot trust this company and you’d be better off paying a little bit more for a reputable company. Avoid these charlatans and liars.
