My experience with this car rental service was the worst I've ever encountered. They attracted me with their low online price. However, when I arrived to collect my vehicle, it was not the one I had reserved but an older model instead. Additionally, they charged me an extra $300 for insurance, a toll transponder, and other fees, while also demanding a $500 security deposit. The clerk was unfriendly and disrespectful. I would never suggest this rental agency to anyone!
I strongly advise against renting a car from this company under any circumstances, even if they offer it for free. There are numerous hidden fees, including battery recovery charges and local taxes, which can add around $150 in extra costs. I've heard from others that getting your deposit back is unlikely. The location is inconvenient, requiring two shuttles to reach, making the experience a nightmare. Many similar companies lure you in with low rates only to impose excessive additional charges, which I refused to accept. I ended up taking an Uber back to the airport and rented a car from a more reputable service.
Please do not even try to rent car from this company under any circumstances even if they give it to you for free, many hidden cost, waste trie, battery recovery charges, local taxes, list goes on about $150 extra charges, mandatory insurance purchases, I have heard from others lately you will not going to get your deposit back, this company is a total scam 100%. Do not attempt to go there because they located in worse area and requires to take two shuttles to get there, it is a nightmare..There are so many of these sort companies out there they offer cheaper rate to drag you there and force upon you to accept their ridiculous additional charges, which I did not and I walked away with Uber and I went back to airport and rented a car with Budget. This was in Miami
Rented a car in Houston. Rental paid thru priceline. Was charged again. And a 300 hundred dollar security deposit. Put had a toll fee forced on me. 1 week later security deposit not returned or the other rental charged. We stick with a reputable company next time.
Miami location is not at the Airport. Took us 40 minutes by train and bus to get here. Waited in line 20 minutes to be told we had to use the other computer and had to wait for guy to come up. There are 4 rental car companies at one counter.They would not accept the Nationwide-based insurance I purchased on Priceline nor would they accept my full coverage car insurance so charged me $90 for 3 days. They have a surcharge of $19.99 a day to use the SunPass they get from the state for free which includes ur tolls. Or $14.99 a day plus ur tolls. Also add State charges and taxes stating Priceline did not charge them.Just use the big car rental guys. They may seem more expensive at first but better customer service and NO HIDDEN FEES!
WARNING – TOTAL SCAM OPERATIONPlease stay the hell away from this company. They are complete frauds.They mess with the returned cars, create fake damages, and then steal your deposit without any shame. Once they take your money, they make sure you can’t dispute a damn thing.This place operates like a mafia-style scam, not a real business.Their customer service is rude, useless, and full of crap.Renting from them is a guaranteed headache and a waste of your hard-earned money.Do NOT rent from “America Car Rental” in Houston — they are a bunch of crooks.
UPDATE ON HOUSTON, TX RENTAL SCAM!!!It's been 1 month since my rental and now they have completely stopped answering my phone calls and/or texts. They flat out ignore me and never returned my security deposit. I've filed a complaint with BBB, Priceline, and my bank. They are liars and scammers.!!!!!!!INITIAL REVIEW FROM SEPTEMBER:DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! They are horrible. If I could give 0 stars I would. Priceline needs to remove them from their website and I'll be sending a complaint to them right after this. I've been patient and I'm done now.I rented a car for 1 day in Houston. I was charged $56 and a $200 deposit...NO PAPERWORK WAS PROVIDED. The car was old and dusty....they literally just bought it from an auction probably and didn't even bother to run it through a car wash. It still had all the writing on the window from the junk yard. I wasn't in the mood to go all the way back to the airport to another car company so I took it and left...and said a prayer that I could trust Tan (the employee).The car issues: back left passenger door wouldn't open from the inside; car would rattle and shake when braking; car was not clean.The location: located in a makeshift office at the Ramada lobby. No one was there when I arrived to return the vehicle. I had to call Tan 15 times before he answered (because apparently he's the only phone number you can call for this location). Luckily I had time to spare to wait for him to come back so I could return the car and get back to the airport. They will only communicate when it's time to pick you up and get your money....after that CRICKETS! Picking up and hanging up the phone, sending to voicemail...no other number but the one that leads to his cell. I have to call back to back like a stalker to get any kind of response.The deposit issue: Tan assured me I would get my deposit back, and now it's been 4 business days and he's telling me it takes 18-21 days!!!! Never heard of this in my life and from reading the reviews, it's a lie. There's nothing even online that says that timeframe in regard to the deposit. They are full of sh*t.I will be getting my deposit back one way or another and until then, I will continue to blast this company.You call the "US and Canada" customer service number online, and it leads to Mexico. BIG FUCN SCAMMERS.I only trusted this company because I always use Priceline and have never had an issue....never even thought to check the reviews prior to renting. Going forward, I'll be checking everything. They are a DISGUSTING company and need to be shutdown.
