Frustrating Experience with Payment Dispute

As customers, we were recently contacted by a representative asking us to pay for a product purchased online over two years ago. We clearly remember the transaction, but have no recollection of receiving it for 'FREE' at that time, which is something we would certainly remember. We were told we needed to prove payment. When I checked with my current bank, they informed me of a $25 fee for an old statement, which the representative claimed was false. I also reached out to another bank I used back then, but they couldn't assist me. The representative mentioned having a friend at that bank, which turned out to be untrue. I was called a liar twice in a short span and was informed that the debt would be sent to a collections agency despite my dispute. It's frustrating to think I paid for this, only to be told two years later that I hadn’t. I was informed that this issue arose from a staff member's negligence, which raises the question of where my money went. I tried reaching out to the owner directly, but his phone numbers were unresponsive, and I was instructed to email the admin for further assistance. While our previous dealings have been positive, this situation has soured our experience. The disputed amount is under $110, and as of March 26, it will have been three years since the transaction. Should I really have to pay $25 to prove my payment? A message for the owner: how much are you spending on chasing this small debt, and what is it costing you in future business? We will no longer be recommending or using your services.
