Our experience at the Sian Ka’An luxury resort was very mixed.. We had a room with a lovely private rooftop deck. However there was no hot water or even warm water to fill up the giant hot tub so we ended up using that as a platform so we could get at least a bit of a breeze.. The decor is dated in the room and there could’ve had two sinks in the bathroom instead of just one the kitchen area was very tiny and the coffee maker was quite poor.! Our main issue was having been poisoned by salmonella, which took over two months to get better once we got back home. Another scary issue was with the private transportation company Amstar. On the way in, it was fantastic. We had a relatively new (Expedition) vehicle, but on the way back we got an old beater of a minivan that got a flat tire on the way back to the airport and I noticed that every one of the tires was missing at least one bolt which kind of freaked me out, but we did eventually make it to the airport, however not in time to book our upgrades !!
We stayed at a resort in Punta Cana for a week in January 2025, and then returned to another resort in December 2025 for another week. Our experiences have been wonderful so far, and if everything continues positively, we plan to visit annually. The accommodations were pleasant, the pool was enjoyable, the buffet was satisfactory, and the evening entertainment was excellent, along with outstanding customer service. I strongly recommend the monkey land excursion, regardless of whether you have children.
Currently staying at the hotel and have used it about three times a year for over 11 years. They've closed several restaurants, leaving only one main dining option and a subpar snack bar, with no communication to guests about these closures. Elderly and disabled guests are struggling with the stairs, and we waited 40 minutes for a breakfast table this morning. Management hasn’t informed us about the situation. They plan to close the hotel in January 2026 and have opened a sister property, leaving us feeling shortchanged for the service we paid for. If you're looking for variety, I wouldn't recommend this hotel. The food has been disappointing both last night and tonight.
Currently staying at a hotel where we've been regular guests for over a decade. They've closed several restaurants, leaving only one main dining option and a subpar snack bar. There has been no communication about these closures, which has been particularly challenging for elderly and disabled guests. We waited 40 minutes for a breakfast table this morning with no updates from management. The hotel is set to close in January 2026, yet they continue to charge for a reduced service. I wouldn't recommend this hotel if you seek variety. The food quality has been disappointing.
I experienced food poisoning, accompanied by an unpleasant smell, dirty stairs, and a lack of gluten-free options despite assurances. The air conditioning was broken and there was no coffee maker available. Most troubling was the apparent indifference from the staff.
The staff were incredibly attentive. Special thanks to our maid for keeping our room immaculate and well-stocked. The food was abundant and delicious, and the grounds were well-maintained. The pool waiter was always cheerful and attentive. The buffet offered a nice variety, and the pizza was particularly enjoyable. The entertainment was fun and lively. A true 5-star experience! Looking forward to returning.
If I could give no stars, I would. I've booked stays at this hotel chain for years, but my recent arrival was marred by poor service. Our free transfer didn’t show up, and after trying to resolve the issue, the staff were dismissive and rude. I was told there was no manager available to address my concerns. This hotel is poorly managed with unfriendly staff. I would recommend avoiding this place.
We have visited this hotel multiple times, which speaks volumes about our enjoyment. The friendly and helpful staff are the main reason we keep returning. The location is fantastic, and we always choose a sea view room, just a short stroll from the town. Perfect for evening walks along the waterfront.
The service was exceptional, with staff going above and beyond for us. The updated furniture was comfortable, and the buffet offered a delightful variety each night. I preferred the buffet to the a la carte options. We were well taken care of throughout our stay.
