This was the best decision we have made regarding this move. We had three of the very best workers.... Terrence, Jack, and Justin and they work so hard and were so helpful and ask questions along the way and made sure everything was just perfect. I did a walk-through with both houses and they did not leave until I was 100% satisfied. They were above and beyond. Wonderful. I would recommend them for anyone of planning. Any sort of move! Best money I've spent!
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY In 15+ years and 20+ moves, this was by far the worst experience I've ever had. What's marketed as a "luxury, stress-free" service was anything but. From the beginning, communication was poor and professionalism was nonexistent. Scheduling was a disaster. I confirmed my packing time and needs (moving a Peloton, dismounting a TV), and was told all would be fine. But the day before, I received a call six hours early from a crew saying they were on their way--with no idea what the job was. Later, another call said they were behind and still didn't know if they were packing or moving. This lack of clarity continued throughout. I was quoted for 2 packers, then 4 movers. Instead, I got a crew of 4 for both pack and move on the same day. I adjusted my entire schedule--handyman, cleaners, pet boarding, childcare--only for them to change the plan back and forth at least 5 times. Each switch cost me rescheduling fees and massive stress. The packing crew was unprofessional. They argued loudly all day, creating a tense atmosphere. One commented on my prescription medications--a clear invasion of privacy--and then admitted, "I stole a Liquid IV from your pantry, I hope that's okay." That was shocking and made me question whether they took anything else. They also came unprepared, lacking basic supplies like Sharpies, tools, and barely brought packing materials. On move day (6/2), the crew was reduced to 2 people and 1 truck. They packed carelessly, leaving items exposed and hardware scattered. No floor covers were used at either location (aside from a small strip they barely used). I had to provide my own tools and ask for furniture to be reassembled--otherwise, it wouldn't have happened. They broke my master bed frame and footboard and said nothing. They showed zero concern for my belongings--throwing items loosely into boxes, unwrapped, unsealed. Some things weren't even fully packed. I had to go back for a second truckload, which added time and costs. By the end, I felt completely unsafe--as a woman alone, I didn't feel I could voice concerns for fear of retaliation or careless treatment of my belongings. The total fees ended up being over $1,200 more than quoted, and I paid an additional $1,800+ in rescheduling costs (for cleaning, pet boarding, child care, etc.). This doesn't even include the value of damaged items. This company showed a shocking lack of professionalism, care, safety, and ethics. They failed at nearly every level--from logistics and communication to respect, privacy, and basic decency. I would never recommend Black Tie to anyone. Use Allied Van Lines--they've been reliable every time, and I'll never stray from them again.
The movers showed up an hour and a half late. They were slow, which caused my total cost to exceed my estimated cost by a lot more than I had hoped. They lost one of my large potted plants during the move, and they managed to uproot one of the trees in the front yard of my new house by driving over it with the truck! I initially picked this moving company due to the advertised "high quality experience", and now I regret it.
The guys did a great job however there were a lot of items left behind that my husband and I had to go back and get including our lawn mower; which was very difficult to load. It was two car loads full!! I didn’t think that was acceptable. Also our bed remote for our adjustable bed got lost in the move somehow and there is a gash in our new home door that wasn’t there before. I have called 3 times and sent an email to talk to a manager about all of these things and it is the 5th day since the move today and no one has called me back yet. This is why I am giving 3 stars. Mainly for the poor customer service on the back end
Being a single woman having to do this process alone, I was nervous about being around men by myself. The movers were kind, professional, respectful, and were clearly seasoned at their job. I felt safe and confident that my belongings would be taken care of. I was amazed at how thoughtful they were with my furniture and the physical endurance they had to get it all done. Another thoughtful extra mile they did without prompting was to fix anything they could that was broken or about to break. For example, my bed was not put together very well by the original person and parts were broken. When they put it back together they made the bed stronger and whole. I recommend Black Tie for their experience, going above and beyond, and personable demeanor. Thank you, Black Tie!
