Fantastic customer service, with a real phone number and real people. I had recently moved and forgot to notify Boroux auto-ship, but when I received an email that my filters had just sent, I panicked because of the old address. I called the customer service number and They were able to stop the shipment and correct the address to my new home right away. Very impressive , these days.
The product is top notch and I highly recommend the extras. The automatic ‘priming’ feature makes set up fun and easy. I’ve used Boroux for 18 months now and I love it. I always toss the first two batches of water after installing new filters. I’m drinking more water now and love the purity.

Poor filters. At first they filtered fine although at different rates. But after 1.5 weeks of use in a normal home with 1 person, the filters have stopped filtering. It takes half a day to filter 1 liter and slowing more and more each day. The last 30% of water does not even go through. I don't have time to wash and prime them every other day as customer service suggest. Faulty product. Lasts 2 weeks, not months or years
I have been using the Boroux system for over a year and I really wanted to give this company a great review. I love the water I get from the system and it is easy to setup and use. However, shortly after cleaning the filters and the chamber as recommended by the company, the upper chamber on the system split open. The company was great when I reached out and sent a replacement upper chamber but then it happened a second time with the new upper chamber. I very carefully followed all of the directions when setting up and cleaning this system.
We love our Boroux water filtration system, the only complaint is we wish we would have got one sooner! We love the crisp, clean taste of this water, anytime I taste unfiltered water now you can definitely taste the difference. It was a bit of a learning curve to prime the filter during the initial setup, but ever since then it's been great. We also purchased the water level spigot which is a total game changer. Highly recommend that add-on! Thanks Boroux for providing us with clean water we can trust for years to come.
I wish I'd read these reviews before purchasing my filters. I thought they would be the same as the Berkey ones just under a different name. I'm experiencing the rubbery taste others mentioned. I find that every time I reprime my filters, I can get it to disappear for 2-3 days, but who has time to reprime every couple of days?! And perhaps more concerning, what is causing the taste in the first place since it's not present in my tap water?
(Note: I wrote this review on Boroux's website but it does not show. They are showing mostly 5 star reviews and filtering out the rest!) After days of thorough research into water filteration systems I purchased the Boroux system with two sets of filters, but a replacement was sent because the black rubber washers on all of the filters emitted a strong car tire rubber odor. These rubber washers had also stained this rubber odor onto the surrounding plastic base, the filter inlet, and the gasket of the filters while sitting in the packaging, and I found no amount of washing made a difference in reducing this odor. Customer service responded very quickly through email and assured me that replacements usually resolve this problem, but this was unfortunately not the case. Either this company needs to: 1. Resource the material used for those washers 2. Find a better quality manufacturing partner to make them 3. If neither is possible then it unfortunately comes down to a flaw in their product design. I can never recommend this to anyone who has a sensitivity or concern for smell or taste in their drinking water as the rubber odor pervades in the water even after countless washes and changes of water. Even though Boroux's team shows again and again that they have a proactive approach to certifying their filters and systems with third party testing, it doesn't mean anything if you are left with unpleasant experiences from four sets of their filters. After 22 email exchanges and hours of trying all I could do to make this system work, the odor persisted, ending in a very disappointing and time consuming experience. Other things to note: Even after thoroughly washing and letting the stainless steel chambers air dry completely, once assembled, both chambers emit a metallic scent even though stainless steel should be scentless. The filter's garket had quite a bit of resistance when screwing onto the filter's stem inlet, and I noticed after screwing it off the last time that the stem inlet had shed tiny black pieces of plastic onto my fingers in the unscrewing process. The hole plugs that sit in the water in the upper chamber are made of plastic, even though plastic free alternatives to these parts exist. I thought the reason for the stainless steel body was to remove as much water contact to plastic as possible, even if the plastic is BPA free. Among the email exchanges with Katie, the Boroux Expert, she used phrases like the one following that sounded unnatural: "Can you advise is the stainless steel water view spigot experiencing any issues?" She also returned some emails asking me the same thing I had written explaining to her in the prior email, as if she didn't read or understand what I had written at all. Some exchanges were smooth, but some were not.The stained rubber odor from the plastic parts of the filters, metallic scent from the stainless steel body, and the shedding of plastic from the filter's stem inlet; For a water filteration system that's supposed to remove contaminants from the water, this is completely unacceptable! These parts that are made in China have serious issues in quality control from what I have experienced in the two systems and four sets of filters that were sent to me. I fear I would be contaminating my water further by using this product! Since I had such high hopes for Boroux's water filteration system, this was terribly disappointing.
I used Berkey for years, once they were not allowed to be sold anymore I went with Boroux. We used these filters for a few WEEKS only and they grew mold on them. I wrote customer service and they said it was not mold, it was just mineral build up. I wrote them back saying we are very sensitive to mold and I never had white growth all over my Berkey filters so please absolutely verify and the second time around they admitted that it WAS in fact mold growing and to just run bleach water through the system and reprime. Now mold has reached every single piece of our system and we don’t feel comfortable using bleach water or using them anymore. Now we are on a hunt for a different company to use. Our friends also have Boroux filters that somehow keep attracting ants inside but never did with their Berkey either. We sure do miss Berkey.
I had been searching for replacement filters for my Berkey water filters for a few months since they were always out of stock. I've been using the Boroux filters for a couple months now and they work just as well if not better than any Berkey filter that I have ever used. I feel like the people that have issues with these types of products just cant follow simple directions.
