We had a brilliant tour of China organised by Serena Zhao who was also available during the tour for any problems. The visits were planned according to our possibilities - (we are a a couple 'over 70') and the guides were always punctual and helpful both for historical info and help at restaurants or local events (Chinese theatre is spectacular!)The guides were all first class: Jessica (Beijng) , Rita (Datong), Paul (Xian), Helen (Chengdu), Lily (Guilin) Summer (Hangzhou), and Peter and Martin in Shanghai and of course the drivers with comfortable cars. All very calm and organised even in the chaos of Chinese cities. Thanks to you all for a wonderful experience!
Our tour guide David was really helpful and showed us tasty local foods and amazing artistic workshops to try the traditional ways to create local products. He was very knowledgeable about the traditions of the villages we visited and went the extra mile to help us with what we wanted to see and experience. Recommend this company and this tour guide as well.
We booked a day tour to Jiuzhaigou National Park and had a wonderful experience. Our tour guide, 陈程, was fantastic and very knowledgeable. She explained the background and history of the area throughout the journey and helped us took lots of photos.Our driver, 刘师傅, was professional and ensured a safe journey. He even dropped us right in front of the entrance of Jiuzhaigou National Park, saving us extra walking, and sent us to the train station on time.We truly appreciate their excellent service. Highly recommended!
Ken has excellent knowledge about the history and culture of Xi’an and its many attractions, flexibly adjusted our schedule to the wether and added additional activity to address our specific interests (e.g. calligraphy). His English is very good and so were his lunch suggestions.
China Highlights (CH) arranged a private tour of the Silk Road for us in September 2025. The tour duration was 17 days, and we extended the tour by going to China a few days earlier and leaving a few days later. Overall, the private tour experience was positive. We stayed at a few excellent hotels, and a couple of noticeably bad ones. We requested some free days for self-exploring, and some of the places we visited on our own were better than the ones arranged by CH. We requested non-smoking cars, and one of the cars that picked us up at the railroad station was literally full of disgusting cigarette smell, which we complained immediately to CH and had the problem corrected. In all, we had an excellent time despite some of the unpleasant experiences. We wished we had another two weeks to experience more of the Silk Road. We do want to specifically mention a tour guide we met. All the tour guides were sufficiently professional and knowledgeable. However, a tour guide named Nur was the only one who gave us outstanding service throughout his portion of responsibility. He came into the train station and waited at the rail car door to greet us and help with our luggage. None others did that. He got with the locals during the tour and gave us special treatments such as picking fresh grapes from the grapevine! He even had his wife help us buy some groceries. He was the only tour guide who provided the concierge-level service we were expecting from a private tour. Thus to grade this private tour experience, we would give Nur a five-star and China Highlights a 4.5 star.
Thanks to China Highlights for a wonderful 2-day tour in Xian. Got to see all the iconic sites and got extremely lucky with the timing. Have been wanting to visit the Terracotta Warriors for sometime now, and was able to do so on its 50th anniversary of its discovery which spotlighted the rare colored warriors. It was wonderous and truly amazing! My guide, Winnie, made it extra special. With her vast experience and being a native of Xian, she shared many engaging stories and pointed out unique sights. My tour also featured stops at the Big and Small Wild Goose Pagodas, the Muslim Quarter, Old City Wall and Xian Museum. And somehow we even fitted in, "The Legend of the Camel Bell" show--another must-see. It gave me a good overview of Xian's importance as the entry point to the Silk Road. Thanks also to the organizing team, Liz, Lussie, and driver Suan. The entire team were friendly, responsive, well-organized and efficient.
China Highlighted planned everything meticulously and everything delivered as promised. My tour guide, Jason in Beijing is very accommodating and friendly. He goes out of his way to take us to sites that interest to us but not in the itinerary. Very helpful to recommend restaurants and places to shop. Highly recommended China Highlights and their tour guide.
Our family of 5 had a really memorable experience in Shanghai with our tour guide Kris.He took really good care of us throughout our tour.He was polite, attentive, very well spoken (with his English) and above all - hilarious. He truly did know his stuff, and the trip was a learning experience.We hope to be back someday and will absolutely request Kris as our guide again and recommend him to our family and friends.
We spent 2 weeks in China in September 2025 - half in Beijing, half in Shanghai. On some days we wanted tailormade support (guide and transport for 2).
