If you’re thinking about using Cinch Home Warranty or Affordable Services & Appliance Repair (Oregon

If you’re thinking about using Cinch Home Warranty or Affordable Services & Appliance Repair (Oregon)… save yourself the misery and RUN.
Back in AUGUST, my refrigerator ice maker stopped working. Cinch told me the part was back-ordered for over a YEAR, so they’d “just replace the fridge.”
From there, Cinch turned the entire situation over to Affordable Services & Appliance Repair, and that’s when the clown show began.
Here’s what their “service” looked like:
- They sent tech after tech who could barely communicate, making it almost impossible to understand what they were doing.
- They ordered a new fridge door… and it didn’t fit.
- So they ordered the same door again… and shocker: that one didn’t fit either.
- They kept sending different people, none of whom could explain anything, none of whom fixed anything, and all they did was waste time.
- This embarrassing, incompetent cycle dragged on for 7 MONTHS.
Seven months of wrong parts.
Seven months of no answers.
Seven months of Cinch pretending this disaster was acceptable.
It finally escalated only because I left a public review. Suddenly Cinch starts calling like they’d been caught red-handed. I was promised Affordable Services would text me with an appointment “first thing tomorrow.”
So my son stayed home ALL DAY waiting for them.
Guess what?
No call. No text. No technician. NOTHING.
At that point, my realtor sent her appliance repair company—the kind of people who actually know what they’re doing.
And here’s the best part:
They installed the ORIGINAL door that Cinch and Affordable claimed didn’t fit… and it works perfectly.
Let that sink in.
After seven months, multiple wrong doors, and countless wasted appointments, it turns out the original door was fine.
The people Cinch kept sending just had no idea what they were doing.
Then, like absolute professionals (sarcasm), Affordable Services texted me a week later trying to schedule a visit—after I already told Cinch the house was closing.
I’m canceling my service, and I will warn everyone I know.
If you value your time, money, sanity, or your home, don’t put yourself through the nightmare I just lived.

When I bought my house, I immediately bought a home warranty from Sears. At some point, it turned into SearsCinch. It soon became just Cinch. Suddenly, I had to pay a $100 deductible in addition to my $85 premium. They could never find providers to come out to where I lived. They always ended up authorizing me to pick my own provider. I have always gone with CDL. I trust them, they're honest and do good work. Last year, in February, my HVAC unit wasn't putting out heat. It took me a couple of months to budget the deductible. Cinch authorized me to choose my provider. CDL came out within a week. I sent Cinch all the appropriate paperwork. A month or two later, Cinch still hadn't paid the bill. I contacted them and they said I lacked certain information. I was not sure what they needed, so I forwarded their email to CDL. Hoping they could provide the information Cinch needed. We have been going back and forth for a year, and the whole time, I'm accruing interest on the original bill. Eventually, after a year, Cinch said they would pay a portion of the bill. That was over a month ago, and they still haven't paid the bill. I experienced a brain injury about 5 years ago. In conversations now, I can pause unexpectedly. After almost a year of constant frustration, I asked the Cinch agent if she thought I was lying to her. Or if she thought I was scamming them. She didn't answer. I created a file to collect every email between us.

Frustrating Experience with Unwanted Changes

We relocated and notified the service about our address change. However, they initiated automatic deductions at a higher rate without my consent and upgraded us to a whole house plan that I never requested or was informed about. Over the last six months, my partner had to replace the smoke detectors, which were malfunctioning, and the sump pump as well. On our first day in the new home, the air conditioning failed, requiring a repair call. Additionally, the garage door opener ceased functioning two months after we moved. While checking our accounts online to confirm the address changes, I discovered the service's actions. When I contacted customer support, they were courteous but could not explain the lack of communication regarding the changes and offered no real solutions, just a minimal discount on our monthly rate, which did not address the issue. We had been paying for a service we never received.

Consider alternatives to Cinch, especially in colder regions.

Consider alternatives to Cinch, especially in colder regions. We purchased a home in April and opted for Cinch for peace of mind, which turned out to be a poor decision. During the summer, our air conditioning unit failed. Cinch insisted on repairing a 19-year-old unit that still used Freon instead of replacing it, despite the costs being similar. That should have been our first warning. The real issue arose in December when our furnace stopped working on December 18th in Wisconsin, during winter. A provider was dispatched to repair it, but it failed again over the weekend. When the provider returned, they did not have the necessary part. We were informed that the repair couldn’t be completed until December 26th, leaving us without reliable heating during Christmas while hosting family. The provider was not the problem; it was Cinch. They refused to escalate the situation, offer flexibility, or allow another provider—even with a furnace out in dangerously cold weather. There was no urgency, no accommodation, and no concern for safety. A home warranty that doesn’t respond during a winter furnace failure is not a safety net—it’s a liability. I strongly advise considering other options.

A Long Journey to Repair My Dryer

In July, my dryer broke down during a challenging time. I contacted the service provider, and thus began a lengthy four-month ordeal. I waited at home for repair technicians on ten occasions, with two of those visits resulting in no one showing up or communicating. I had ten appointments with four different technicians, all of whom were friendly and professional, but they too became frustrated and invested in the repairs. After replacing several parts and the motor three times, two of them suggested that the shipped parts might be defective or refurbished. Meanwhile, I was juggling visits to my husband in the hospital, transporting my wet laundry to friends' homes, and reaching out to the service provider without any satisfaction. When asked if I would recommend the service to others, I said NO, which led to the introduction of a representative named Wendy Dunn. She was a timely blessing! She delivered results swiftly, communicated regularly, followed up appropriately, resolved a financial issue efficiently, and finally brought me peace of mind. By November, my dryer was fixed, and although it's about 35% louder than before, it does dry my laundry. I truly appreciate Wendy for her intervention and support. I commend her dedication, work ethic, and empathy. She has a challenging role, and she handles it exceptionally well. I am thankful!
