Onboarded with collective in 2025 as a first year s-corp transition. Terrible communication, no proactive oversight that they promise. At the end of the year now and foun payroll was handled incorrectly. They waited until December to address it. On top of that many issues with categorizations despite multiple requests. I have to go to an outside cpa now because they say they can’t do anything at all. Offered no compensation. Don’t trust them. They talk a big game and charge a LOT for nothing.
As single owner/operated business I highly encourage you to look at options elsewhere.I've been with them for almost 2 years. Year 1: they screwed up payroll big time - did some adjustments to help ease the blow but still ended up costing a lot in taxes. They did compensate a few months which was nice.No direct rep.Year 2: I have a direct rep - yay. Was promised they would coordinate with their team.Yet still poor customer service from support team navigating their "wonky" system, general tax help, and individual tax (They are of course outsourcing this as well). Also big change in Year 2 was expecting hefty delays — when I recognized an error on their end they told me they'll expedite it to two weeks. It's been almost 4 months! Likely going to face large penalties because of this. Instead of increased savings I would've gained from using their service. My bottom line has suffered from their subpar service. Seems like they have brought on too many clients and we are just numbers in their system. As a small business owner it really hurts to be valued and treated as such. Especially after giving them the benefit of the doubt after Year 1 Plus: Price is decent because it's all overseas CPA's. Make sure to doublecheck their work — plenty of errors all over the place in forms, bookkeeping, accounting tables and quarterly estimates. Conclusion: Promised a do it yourself turnkey system with support versus a YOU have to literally do everything yourself system with subpar support and 0 accountability on their end.Not worth it.
I spent like an hour with these people, confirming to me everything is good to go, and i spent time sending documents only to tell me they don't accept a C-Corp. What a waste of time. And i asked for a refund, and i never got a response back in a week. Then i have another support agent tell me to clarify if i want my membership canceled, and not even acknowledging the refund. And then i check my account to see a refund was never done to begin with. I guess they what... expect me to pay $300 something for no reason? What a stupid company honestly. I'll just do Quickbooks and get a good tax accountant. Would save a lot of money like that too. Hope this helps to anyone looking for an automated process.
I signed on with Collective in May and have had one of the most frustrating service experiences of my professional life. Nearly six months later, my books are still not fully set up or accurate, and most of my questions have gone unanswered.Communication is fragmented and inefficient. Every message goes into a general queue where a new person responds each time, meaning I’ve had to re-explain the same issues over and over with no progress. What was sold as a streamlined, all-in-one solution for small business owners has instead created more confusion, not less.As a business owner who came to Collective hoping for clarity and support after a disappointing CPA experience, this has unfortunately been worse. I’ve paid for months of “service” without receiving the value I was promised.I would not recommend Collective to anyone looking for reliable bookkeeping or proactive communication.
