Our experience with Douglass Allen was incredibly disappointing from start to finish. When selling our house, the property was not put on the market for three weeks and was not listed on Rightmove in a timely manner, causing unnecessary delay from the outset.
We were not kept informed of interest in our property at any point, and communication throughout the process was shockingly poor. On one occasion, we specifically asked for a viewing to be cancelled, yet this was not done and a viewer turned up at our home unexpectedly, which was completely unacceptable.
The member of staff handling our sale was off work for weeks, and during that time we were left completely in the dark with no proactive updates or handover. When I eventually called to chase an update, I spoke to someone who was extremely rude and unhelpful, which only added to the frustration.
To make matters worse, keys were released to the buyers before we had confirmed that we had vacated the property, resulting in them turning up before we had even left. This was a serious breach of professionalism and caused significant stress.
Overall, the lack of communication, poor organisation, and disregard for basic procedures made this a very upsetting experience. I would not recommend Douglass Allen based on our experience.
I used Douglas Allen Wickford for the sale of my mother’s home. I was very impressed on the support they gave me, before and after the sale. I got regular updates and feedback. I highly recommend them for any sale
I was in the process of buying a house through modern auction, from a company called Iamsold via Douglas Allen estate agent. The property was advertised for £550,000 + the reservation fee, totalling £574,750 The estate agent told me it had been valued at £600,000 by 7 different estate agents, I secured the property for £501,600 just before Christmas, and was ruched to make the reservation fee, with the auctioneer Daniel repeating telling me my money is safe if problems occur with the morgage, survey, or my buyer pulling out I would get my money straight back. He repeated told me I would get my money back. The survey was completed by Halifax stating it was only worth £400,000 which ment I didn’t have the funds to proceed, I sent the survey document to Iamsold and told them it was out my hand, They asked if I would still proceed if the seller dropped the price to the survey, and I was still happy to proceed. Unfortunately the buyer didn’t want to drop the price, so i couldn’t proceed, it was out of my hands which Daniel clearly stated if this occurred I would get all my money back. They have since made me wait nearly a month for them to return my money saying it has to go through certain procedures. I received a email yesterday stating they are not returning my money.I have requested the copy’s of the telephone conversation which they have confirmed that they have via email, but my requests have been ignored. A member of their staff Rachel stated that Daniel should never have taken the money before the survey. And part of there terms state they are legally required to ensure a buyer has the funds before taking reservations fees, The sum payment of £21,600 was made on the agreement I would get it back if any problems occurred out of my control.Avoid at all costs

I would like to thank Jake Kemp at the Epping branch for his continual support and assistance during the process of selling my house. He has gone above and beyond and has helped me every step of the way. The whole team are putting their everything into selling this property.
We purchased a house through Douglas Allen and although solicitors and the legal process made it extremely stressful, the team at Douglas Allen were brilliant. It started with Ann-Marie making sure we visited ‘our house’ and finished with the indomitable Dawn going over and beyond to make sure we made the correct decision and was on-hand with any help or requests. We felt comfortable and reassured in their hands. Dawn is completely professional in her role backed up by the others in the office.
We would like to thank Alex, Caroline, Demi and Natasha from Douglas Allen in Wickford for the diligence, professionalism, help and support. Their ability to deal with issues and concerns, be it in the first meeting, or the last when we asked them to hand over the keys on completion, showed they genuinely cared about their customers. We cannot thank them enough for making a daunting process so stress free.
I purchased my first home with Douglas Allen and my sales progressor, Nish Zafar, was just fantastic. So helpful, and so communicative and responsive. She really made the experience so much better and always went extra mile. Thank you!
