This is a great dog food and company. I can't believe some of these poor reviews I've read. One person mentioned the amount of 'cups' of food and water required. They are not cups, they are little scoops that the company provides. They have great customer service. You get free shipping I believe with most purchases and definitely with all subscription orders which also save you money. I've used this food now for at least 2 years and saw improvement with my dogs different issues.
DO NOT PURCHASE UNLESS YOU'RE ABSOLUTELY SURE YOU LIKE PRODUCT. I bought Canine Health. I found it had too much grain and not enough veg. So I ordered via website the Veg to Bowl. Delivery was taking too long so I drove half a hour to buy a bag at a local store with intent to return Veg to Bowl that was en route. First, the food is 4 stars because I have to mix Canine Health with Veg to Bowl to get desired grain to veg ratio.Second, I removed 3 stars because delivery cost to ship to me is $5. The website cheerfully states they will refund you within 90 days no questions asked. I went to mailbox store to return UNOPENED FOOD and cost to return is $25 for a $50 bag. WTF!!!!!Third, quality of customer service is good to no comment (testy and curt). And did customer service ever bother to tell me their food is ALSO SOLD ON AMAZON which would have avoided double purchase of Veg to Bowl since Amazon delivers SAME DAY? NOPE. Last, I left a negative review on their website. Has it been published? NOPE. Does it seem like bad reviews are weeded out? YEP.
I ordered the free sample to try before purchasing this product. The "recommended feeding amounts" state '9-18lbs - 1/4 -1 cup dry product to 1-2 cups hot water'. I tried that measurement, starting with 1 cup dry and 1 cup water, and needed to add another cup of the dry food to the 1 cup of hot water, waited over the '12 minutes' and it was still very runny, I added another 1/4 cup to finally get close to the consitency of a can of wet dog food. That means you actually need 2 1/4cups dry to 1 cup water for a 9-18lb dog. This appears to mislead the user about the quantity that the bag provides. The bag is 5.5oz of dry ingredients and claims to make 1lb of wet dog food. Sure, if you feed you dogs soup. I tried sending feedback and their response "you are always free to use less water".
When my little dog was diagnosed with stage II chronic kidney disease (CKD) I was devastated. I've always believed that knowledge is power, so I began to read as much as I could on CKD. In this instance, however, the more I read the more confused I became. I did not want to put my dog on commercially prepared prescription food as my vet suggested. That's when I came across Dr Harvey's. They offer a sample of their dehydrated, human grade food, "Canine Miracle Health". They don't even charge for it, you just pay the shipping and handling costs. One sample bag held a generous amount: enough for more then two days of meals for my 12 lb ShihTzu. My dog, Chewie, loved the food. He ate it up and licked the bowl clean. The staff are amazing. I reached out to them with a few questions, and was called back by their veterinary nutritionist. She was incredibly helpful and reassuring. That was one year ago. I've fed Chewie a consistent diet of Dr Harveys food. I took him in to have comprehensive lab testing done, and was astonished and grateful at the results: Chewie's kidney values were in their normal ranges. I am very happy with the products that we've been using, and am so thankful to have found them!
