Have been using the app for about 3 months and I’ve saved thousands. Also discovered great new spots I would otherwise have never been to. Paying is discreet - the staff don’t even know you’re using it most of the time. I must admit the takeaway function has been a bit hit and miss. You pay and order in the app and sometimes when you go to collect the restaurant hasn’t checked eat club notifications and only then begins preparing your order. Other than that it’s great though. I’ve saved heaps.
I have had 11 email exchanges providing screenshots of txt messages from eat club and bank account charges to prove that my eat club card was declined then charged, and then charged again. It has been going on for I month and I still have not been refunded. Customer service is terrible, and you cannot get through on their mobile number!
I strongly advise businesses to think carefully before signing up for platforms like this. We are essentially creating a giant that will ultimately take control of us. These services employ psychological tactics, asserting they will “bring new customers” at a minimal cost. You’re led to believe that even after offering substantial discounts and paying commissions, you’ll still maintain a healthy profit margin. It sounds appealing — in theory. However, the truth is far from that. As more businesses join, the platform benefits more — not the businesses. Those profits are funneled into aggressive marketing strategies, drawing in more participants and increasing reliance. Over time, businesses find themselves compelled to offer continuous discounts just to remain visible, while their margins steadily erode. I know of a popular local café that is bustling daily yet is making no profit whatsoever. The business is now in trouble and has been listed for sale. This model is unsustainable.
This is not a true partnership. Consider this a warning. Take time to reflect before you join.
Worst experience by eat club. I am totally vegetarian and I ordered the dal makhni mini meal in that I got a chicken piece and when I raised a complaint for it they say that they cant do anything and not even giving the refund. They should atleast maintain different kitchens or divide the areas for the veg and non veg. I highly doubt their hygiene or making the food.
We had a voucher with Gavroche Restaurant in Chippendale in Sydney. On arrival we were told by Gavroche it had cancelled the voucher 2 days ago. This did not update the Eat Club website or booking so we did not know it had been cancelled and had redeemed the voucher this morning 11am. We turned up on time and were told there was no table. This is lousy customer service.
Absolute garbage customer service, I have complained multiple times about venues being closed or the EFT facilities not working ( therefore eat club app not working ) and been given a $10 credit to use with in 2 weeks on both occasions after travelling all the venue and having to eat somewhere close by at full price. However on the last occasion not only did I not get a discount but I was charged 15 % more for service and a Sunday charge. When I reached out to eat club they said T & cs were their when I claimed it( I am not an idiot we always look) on top of that, the discount was still supposed to apply to the drinks and then radio silence from "support ". Obviously need to add a 15 % surcharge to employ some more help staff? Or more helpful staff ?
