The only reason I stick around on some Fandom-hosted wikis is for the collaborative effort.

I haven't browsed any of their sites without an adblocker for close to 10 years, and for good reason.
The wiki sites are more ad than wiki at this point, and are the annoying "in your face" kind that flood the page.

Like a comment on a YouTube video said, using Fandom sites w/o an adblocker is like driving down a messy road and not using your windshield wipers as bugs, droppings, and leaves pile up there.

It'll take me a whole day to name all of Fandom's en$**ttification efforts to deprive their wiki sites out of any joy, so I'll just name their ridiculous changes as a casual, rando who has used their wikis before.

Garbage UI change they rolled out somewhere in 2025. An age old scummy move by any tech company.

Taking a quick visit on a wiki's page and wanting to briefly compare previous edits to see what has changed in that page is no longer allowed without an account; you get register-gated.

Even with an adblocker, stupid popups that a majority of the user base doesn't care about, like "Community Central" annoucements that you cannot filter out from others, and the huge sidebar popup about "related pages".

Awful, user-hostile website design

-∞/10 || use another wiki hoster instead of fandom

All the info are just used as an estimated amount since most of the info are inaccurate. Dont use their wiki as an trusted source always look for other places so you get more accurate info They ip banned me for a month for trying to warn and add the official link to the Roblox Pressure Wiki and their reason was for spam, their filter already has the official link filtered out and ip bans ppl from editing the wiki Their ui is also the worst ever created. They took the MediaWiki ui and filled it to the brim with ads to make as much moneys as possible. The mobile ui on landscape mode is nearly impossible to use cuz of the ads. Did it also mention the horrendous video and that follows you without u asking? And their gamestop (or whatever they have) ad appearing in every corner of the screen?

TOO MUCH ADS!!!

there are ads everywhere, and these obsene video ads cover up like 10% of my screen. the editing experience is as bad as if you had to fix a car that was in the bottom of the ocean, crushed, while people throw soda cans and tomatoes at you.

Ads suck, but communities are actually tolerable

The community is nice, lot of useful information, but ads and tracking are a pain on mobile.

Do not edit for Villains Wiki

This review is specifically about Villains Wiki, rather than Wikia itself. If you are planning on contributing to edit for Villains Wiki, do yourself a favor and do something else more worthwhile. The moderators on the website are extremely prone to abuse of authority, power-tripping, treating their own user-base like dog shit, and cannot take any kind of criticism whatsoever. They way they treat their users is flat out unacceptable. Not only are they unhelpful when you need them with something, but they are condescending, rude, volatile and see their own users as numbers. If you get into a disagreement with them, they say demeaning things and insult you like a preteen would, even though these admins are clearly grown adults, but have zero emotional maturity. If you reprimand them for their behavior, they will permanently ban you from their site for "aggressive and intimidating behavior", even if you are being neither aggressive nor intimidating, that's usually just something they make up so they can have an excuse to throw you out. Unless we're supposed to believe they are easily intimidated by people who don't put up with their inability to treat others with basic human decency? That's pretty ironic, since the moderators like to act tough when it suits them. And don't even bother reporting an admin's shitty behavior to another admin, they will defend them and make excuses for their actions, usually with something like "they are just tired and having a rough day", even though they ban users left and right when they are also having bad days, which just shows their complete bias and lack of accountability. And on their Villains Wiki Administrator category page, they have an image of Judge Dredd to represent them, unironically thinking it makes them look cool and badass, which just further shows their complete lack of self-awareness, since Judge Dredd (both the character and the series he is from) was created as a satire of authoritarianism and fascism, and not something to be glorified, though at the same time, it is fitting (albeit, for the wrong reasons), since the Villains Wiki Admins are prone to draconian levels of power-tripping behavior, not unlike the judges from Judge Dredd. That's really all I can say about Villains Wiki. Not matter how shitty your job is, you're at-least getting paid, unlike Villains Wiki, where you will get even less out of working for them.

Identity Fraud Hazard

The advertisements they endorse on the website are blatantly scam, and not only scam, but could lead to IDENTITY FRAUD. Never click on the website, don’t use, and straight up mass report them. Identity fraud is a serious issue and this website does not help people avoid it.
