Review Time
I've been a voice actor on The Voice Realm for a couple of years. The platform is easy to use, jobs are consistent, and support always responds immediately to any queries I have. It's been a reliable part of my VO career. Thank you!
I'm giving this review now with the knowledge that my last review was poor. But I have to now acknowledge that, yes, they will take your membership money if they say you qualify, even if your audio is barely acceptable. And that can vary. But at no time is that a guarantee that any client will find your audition anything but "barely acceptable" and move on. I have to acknowledge that I didn't get a good result before mostly because of my own lacking. Flash forward, My sound, performance, and delivery are broadcast quality. I won my big name gig there. Got paid a good rate and on time. I won it because of me and the state of my art. Be honest. You're competing in a circle with seasoned players. A) TVR very well might curate the better players for the job. It's not their fault you don't make the cut or are not right for the client. B) Their rate guide is there for all to see, so if you can do better, go do so. C)If you are not a "black belt" in VO, don't expect a trophy if you're not as good. There is a reason you are getting your butt kicked. Finally, as a platform, TVR is a descent group. They get and do a job like any other platform. At no time have they tried to withhold payment or any other shenanigans. I like the new server!! Faster, more efficient. Eventually the website will be updated for look and feel.So yeah, TVR can get you big name clients. If you are ready for them. Be honest. Don't waste your money and time if you are just here to "practice". This isn't the minors.
They 'accepted' my dry demo over 5/15, sending me a special login link. Got my new account setup, and was loading my additional demo/samples when I got kicked out. Tried logging back in and it stated I wasn't registered. But then every attempt to password reset only blinked to the signin page. Tried the chatBOT which was dead useless, wasting 20min. of my time "responding" with no solution.HARD PASS. From some of the reviews I've seen, they're another P2P site. But their support nonexistent whatever.
After doing a lot of research on companies who provide this service, I decided to use The Voice Realm, and I am so glad that I did! I was able to choose from numerous voice actors with an English accent for my company's voicemail. The talent I chose had many samples of her work including the movie trailers she had done. I was blown away by having someone record my company voicemail with such an impressive CV for such a low cost. The Voice Realm has been my go to for over 8 years and I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for professional voice over work.
It does what the tin says - provides some great opportunities to do voice-over work for predominately UK-based companies. I must start by saying the support from Sarah and her colleagues has been incredible and very communicative. The chatline on the website is superb and I've also received prompt separate emails. The site is understandably very protective about direct contact and keen to remind voice-over artists to adhere to the rules, which I have no problem with. They have provided be with copies of all of the projects I have done promptly and in a professional manner. I have no hesitation recommending this particular platform to prospective voice-over artist, if you are able to get on. I certainly advise those concerned to stick to the rules to make it work proficiently and in harmony with your activity. If I could award 6 stars, I would!
I've filled several castings through this site at this point and have had good experiences overall. The site does have a few questionable features (or questionable lack of features) but my experience working with the talent has been almost universally fantastic. Having to make multiple auditions if you want to open a casting call to people with different regional accents, or people of different age ranges is a bit baffling. Having to ask the admins' permission to get the talents' name for crediting purposes is inconvenient (though the staff have always been prompt when I request this). I had one talent disappear and the site mysteriously release the payment, despite my never seeing any work, though the staff helped me resolve that too. I can upload an audio file in a public audition, but not in a private one. There's no way for me to answer questions that any given talent might have during an open casting call. These are all things that could be improved on the side of the site. The talent, however, has been wonderful. friendly, enthusiastic, prompt, really couldn't ask for more. Big shout outs to Jon, Dimitris, and Dee in particular, you guys are rock stars.
As a voiceover talent, the opportunities are endless. This is not to say that you will land every gig that you audition for, and certainly has not been my case, but you can stay busy doing several auditions a day. I have been fortunate to earn a couple of gigs on the website, and in between the phenomenal, motivating support team and great clients, I will very likely renew my membership! :)
