It is completely acceptable to generate most of your income from ads, especially if you're providing a service such as Fandom. However, when you blatantly allow ads to forcibly redirect you from your page with no way to close the ad... then there's a huge problem. Based on my research on this issue it was of some surprise that Fandom is notorious for knowingly allowing this to happen. The redirect ad is 100% not allowing you to use their site to read wiki's. If you back button out, you are sent two pages back.. and if you click back into an article the ad immediately intrudes again. Rinse and repeat... this has been happening for a week... and any response I've met from Fandom is apathetic at best. So... not that it'll affect Fandom nor will they care but I'll never use the site again. Couldn't if I wanted to but even if they are bothered to fix this infuriating issue I still wouldn't use them anymore. They allow this to happen far too often with zero cares to give. What a shame
The people are the problem. Most fandoms you see are nothing but impersonations, have some or a lot of false information, have a lot of mods who give people permanent bans instead of giving them a timeout, and not all things need a wiki. End of story!Yeah, I know that not all fandoms have to be officially made by the people who made the game, anime, show, movie, etc. But seriously, every fandom I visit is just nothing but garbage. To all the companies out there, please get every fandom a DMCA strike. I beg of you!
Hi, Fandom disabled my account (Jensonbrad 13) for no reason, I didn't do anything wrong and you shouldn't use it if you don't want to get blocked globally.I didn't do anything bad, I was following their guidelines and you shouldn't use it, Please use wikipedia for a better
There are adds everywhere, they treat there users terribly, and It’s all around just a worse experience than competing sites like mirahes and wiki.gg. additionally they know how to work search engines so that their pages will always appear above the better designed ones in searches.
Be very careful before hosting a wiki here. If the community decides to move somewhere else Fandom will not allow you to refer users to the new wiki. This means search engines will continue to refer new users to Fandom even though the content is many years out of date and these poor users have no idea that the active community is elsewhere.*Their policy is toxic to open communities.* To read it in full search for "fandom forking policy." A simple adjustment to that policy would stop issues with bad wiki copies and allow official community moves. The only reason I can see for keeping their current policy is that they want to control and milk user created content for ad revenue.
