I discovered Focusmate at the beginning of grad school and it has been invaluable! Super easy to use and very effective for body doubling to help me focus on tasks. I love that you can choose from 3 session lengths. As soon as I found out that they did not require your credit card info to use it unless you upgrade, I was sold. That is how much they trust their concept to sell itself. So thankful for this tool!

Focusmate is fantastic! I’ve been using it since 2025 and have completed 50 sessions so far. Every time, I've encountered friendly individuals. This platform truly inspires me to remain focused and finish my tasks consistently. I appreciate the new feature that enables you to join a session outside the 15-minute intervals. It would be great to see a group feature introduced, such as a writing group, a tidying group, or any other purpose the group might serve.
Focusmate is, without a doubt, a total game changer for me. While I haven't been officially diagnosed with ADHD, I recognize many of the symptoms in myself, and I use this service to help manage the challenges I face. Struggling to start work? Just hit the button to book a session in 5/10/15 minutes or whenever you prefer, and it helps your brain begin the process of preparing for your study tasks. The session format pairs you with another user, allowing you to briefly explain your study goals. This is incredibly helpful for clarifying your objectives. After working together for 25/50/75 minutes, you regroup to discuss what went well and what could improve. It's a brilliant 'body doubling' concept, and my productivity has increased dramatically. It also alleviates the isolation of studying—though you may not know the other party, it fosters a sense of community among those facing similar challenges. Additionally, the support from the community has been remarkable. I've been pleasantly surprised by the kindness and consideration shown in over 50 sessions. As a woman, I had safety concerns, but I've noticed there are straightforward ways to report any inappropriate behavior, and you can always exit a call if needed—though I've never had to do that. It's a collaborative and diligent community worldwide, and it has truly changed my life. Thank you for this service!
