I am at a loss of FRA’s ability to spoil almost every flight I take - arriving or departing. Let me start with the security checks - one of the most aggressive, unfriendly, openly discriminating staff. I just can’t believe how in this day and age the Fraport company and their staff get away with such blatant behavior. They shout at you, they look at you as if you are a criminal. And on top that of it every passenger pays 14 € security charge: Fraport can look at AMS, CPH, ARN or CDG or any other airport apart from LHR for inspiration how to deploy customer friendly approach to security lanes. Total disgrace, despite having latest scanners installed.
Arrivals T1 : every time the plane arrives on remote stand there is either no bus or no stairs ready… just a disaster if you are a connecting passenger, often 20 + min wait till disembark.
Baggage reclaim: complete disaster: more often than not the waiting time is 30+ min. I just can’t understand how Fraport can’t get this right.
Also toilets are stinky and dirty, yet Fraport charges some of the highest passenger fees. I would avoid this airport if I could but it is a total monopoly so there is no alternative.
OVERALL a huge embarrassment for Germany, Hesse and Frankfurt. Shame, shame, shame.
The shareholders of Fraport - the City of Frankfurt and the State of Hesse should take action as this airport is actually their face, first impression of millions of passengers.
The staff at security were very rude. The scanning technology felt outdated, requiring the removal of all items from my bag, while other major airports have upgraded to newer scanners. This was not the experience I needed after a long flight with a short layover.
This was the worst travel experience I've ever had. At Frankfurt airport, the service was extremely poor. While going through TSA, both my wife and I were stopped for the most ridiculous reasons and set aside. They manually checked our backpacks, stopping me for having a "book" in mine, which is absurd, and they halted my wife because of a 0.3l bottle of water we received on the plane, claiming it triggered the system as "explosive" material. This was utterly nonsensical; it felt like they just wanted to inspect our belongings manually, and I view this as an act of discriminatory behavior.
After waiting 45 minutes in passport control, I found the experience utterly unprofessional. I estimate another 45 minutes before I can move. My wife, who is from the EU, went through without delay and is now waiting for me at baggage claim.
This was the worst travel experience I've ever had. At the airport, the service was incredibly poor. My wife and I were pulled aside during TSA for the most absurd reasons. They manually checked our bags, stopping me for having a 'book' and my wife for a small bottle of water from the plane, which they mistakenly flagged as a potential threat. This is not only ridiculous but also feels like an act of discrimination.
The staff were awful—rude, confrontational, and ineffective from security to the cafes. Their limited English skills are unacceptable for an international hub. I even saw mice in the food court area. When I mentioned it to a staff member, she seemed unconcerned. The overall atmosphere felt chaotic and unprofessional, and I couldn't leave fast enough.
The staff were unhelpful, and the queueing culture was absurdly lengthy for passport control. There was a clear lack of willingness to assist. With passport control taking nearly an hour and security checks moving at a snail's pace, it creates a terrible experience for any traveler.
What has happened?! Section A used to be enjoyable. The bus drivers are rude, the pretzels are stale, and the bratwurst is merely reheated with ketchup! It's time to hire staff who care about their jobs and the quality of food they serve, along with basic courtesy.
I've consistently faced issues at this airport, with unclear signage leading to missed flights. While the restrooms have always been clean, my recent visits have shown a decline in hygiene and service. I encountered overflowing trash cans and restrooms without basic supplies. After experiencing a much more organized airport, I was dismayed by the long wait times for luggage and the overall disarray.
