Furnished Finder as a company does not treat it's Landlords right. The scam is that when you sign up for an annual membership, they set the auto-renewal and increase next year's fees. If you don't catch it in time, they will auto-renew you and will not refund you even if you call a day after the auto-renewal charged your credit card. Landlords, do not sign up with Furnished Finders.

Frustrating Experience as a Landlord

As a landlord with a property near a local university, I managed to find one renter for three months. Although she was pleasant, she neglected to use the provided shower curtain, leading to significant water damage that required a complete bathroom and ceiling renovation. Most of the other inquiries came from suspicious individuals who seemed to have found their way onto the platform. I grew weary of responding to those who insisted on communicating only via text. Every time I verified the phone numbers, they turned out to be invalid. Many claimed they were in a 'remote area' and could only text, which felt very strange. The platform eventually confirmed that these were scammers, so why not enhance their screening process? It's a good concept, but you need a lot of patience to sift through the scams.

A Nightmare Experience

The place I stayed at was a complete disaster. The landlord was deceitful and went through my belongings, taking many items. I had to report her to the authorities, and only then did she try to act friendly. The kitchen was filthy, with dirty dishes and grimy pans everywhere. There were mice throughout the house, contaminating the food. As an elderly person, I faced verbal abuse and tripped twice during the night without anyone coming to my aid. I ended up needing an ambulance and spent two weeks in the hospital. I was advised to consider pressing charges. This so-called 'beautiful farmhouse' felt sinister and was filled with hoarding. I left that place as quickly as possible, and the landlord even stole rent money from me.

One Star. Poor service and lack of follow-through, fails to deliver actual tenants.
1. When I requested to cancel the auto billing, they refused. I clearly instructed them not to proceed with it next year. I couldn’t access their site to cancel it. In 2025, they did it again and claimed they couldn’t reverse the charges, suggesting I change it for the following year. Once more, I attempted to stop the auto renew, but the link was broken, leaving me unable to cancel. Now I’m working with my credit card company to reverse the charges. Once they have your business, it seems they won't let you go.
2. I briefly used their services, but it involved numerous inquiries without any real action. They either didn’t read the guidelines or simply didn’t care, repeatedly asking about pets even though it’s clearly stated in my ad that they aren’t allowed. It was too much hassle for minimal results. It’s reminiscent of trying to sell something online, where potential buyers keep asking if the item is available but no actual transaction occurs. The ironic part is that the owners claim they are doing this as proof of their good character. Steer clear of these individuals.

Hidden auto-renewal policy and lack of communication

The auto-renewal policy is not clearly disclosed, and they assert that they notify you via email a month before charging your credit card automatically! After a whole year of membership, we didn't receive a single inquiry! It's a complete waste of time and money. I am reporting them to the state attorney general!

A year later, unexpectedly, they charged my credit card for auto-renewal. After over an hour on the phone with a representative, I received only rehearsed excuses about why the charge was deemed 'non-refundable.' There was no accountability or willingness to assist—just a refusal to help. Their conduct is very disappointing and frankly unacceptable. Exercise caution with this company—they show a clear disregard for their customers and will charge you without warning.

Steer clear of this service

I visited this platform seeking information about renting a room to a traveling nurse or doctor. I provided my credit card details for potential services, but no charges were mentioned. I decided against proceeding and was overwhelmed with spam inquiries. I was shocked to discover two charges on my credit card, one for $179 and another for $119. They refused to refund me, claiming my receipt went to my spam email. I plan to dispute this with my credit card company. I would never engage with such a misleading company!

Property owners should be cautious

Property owners should be wary of this company. They charged me an annual fee without any prior notice, doing so in an underhanded manner. After receiving a charge notice from my bank, I contacted them to request a reversal, but they refused, despite knowing I hadn’t listed my property for rent in the past year. The customer service is evidently lacking. Ironically, they rate both property owners and renters to eliminate bad actors and misinformation. This company deserves a low rating. I advise other property owners to dispute such charges and avoid auto-renewal situations.
