Bought a pair of Gelert waterproof boots from Sports Direct for £30 before reading the reviews here. Wasn't expecting much from them after reading the reviews. However as I wear them every day for work I was fairly impressed that they actually lasted 3 months before they started to let in water. Can't really complain too much for the price in all honesty and they were very comfortable. Replaced with Northwest Territories Inuvik @ £47.99
Congratulations Gelert.Normally I buy expensive walking boots that still only last 9 to 12 months before falling apart. The wilds of Hampshire proving just too flat and bland for those high performance boots. So imagine my delight when I bought a pair of softshell mid boots from sports direct for a third of the price i would normally pay. Yes they were a little short on quality and finish and the chap in sports direct hadn't the faintest clue if the boots were even water proof, or any good. But an English company, based in North Wales of all places must understand what is required of a walking boot, I supposed. Support the local lads and lasses I thought. 20 minutes of daily dog walking in a wood must be right up their street. But alas, no. For a third of the price for a pair of Merrell boots, Gelert could manage a third of the durability. Within 3 and half months the sole of the left boot has sprung a leak and is now sucking up water into the boot. Not good. Not good at all. Nill points for Wales Of course sports direct looked blankly at me when I attempted to return the boots. Apparently wearing the footware invalidates any sort of warranty. Having learnt my lesson, I have now caved in and bought yet another pair of expensive foreign boots. Michigan in the United States seeming to have a better grasp of English walking conditions then poor old Welsh boot makers.Avoid at all cost, however cheap it is, it's cheap for a reason.
Poor quality shoes, fallen to bits in 2 months and the soles have loads of holes in them, my feet are constantly wet in supposebly waterproof shoes! I should have stuck with karrimor shoes as they last much longer. Customer support are not helpful continuingly avoiding the fact this is their product.
I purchased these walking boots from Sports Direct at the end of October. I know we have had a lot of rain lately but I did not expect the boots to let in water. I have emailed Sports Direct and I’m waiting for their response. I definitely would not buy these boots again although I did quite like the style and they fitted perfectly.
Bought a pair of gelert rocky walking shoes 5 months ago not worn much due to lock down i would say no more than 10 times wore today to take dog out on field and the sole has nearly fallen off one and the other has started save your money buy a better brand.
