GoingVC was and is an exceptional program with a stellar network. Best part of the program is you are able to learn by doing which is very hard to do in venture capital. If it wasn't for this experience, I wouldn't be where I am today. I owe a lot of my success to them.
GoingVC delivers exactly what it promises: a structured, thoughtful, and practical pathway into the venture capital ecosystem. The curriculum is rigorous but accessible, the community is strong, and the emphasis on real-world application—not hype—sets it apart from many programs in this space. I especially appreciated the strategic framing around how funds actually operate, how investors think, and how to build long-term credibility in VC. Overall, a well-run program that respects both the craft and the responsibility of investing.
Great program! I found the content super useful and easy to access. Dan from the program team was always there to answer any questions I had. I feel like I got a ton out of my participation, and it definitely felt worth it to take the course! Would highly recommend to anyone looking to break into VC.
As with all things of this nature, you will get out of GoingVC what you put in. The curriculum for GoingVC is good—it certainly provides the basics you need in order to pursue a career in VC and "speak the language." That said, the program could do more to help you put in more so you can get out more. The materials could use a copy editor for clarity, and sometimes the coursework seems so basic that it feels like you should be going deeper. Further, the meeting times are sporadic, so it can be very difficult to fit GoingVC into your schedule since the schedule shifts from week to week. That all said, perhaps the most useful part of GoingVC is the investor program, where you take on the job of scouting deals for the GoingVC syndicate. This was immensely useful for me, forcing me to go out, find startups, and network with founders (which was a daunting task in the beginning, but became easier over time).
The breadth of speakers from across the VC and founder space made the experience both memorable and impactful, and I'm very much looking forward to leveraging the extensive GoingVC network that I now have access to. The online platform via Teachable and Notion made completing assignments straightforward and kept all the materials organized and accessible for future reference. The technical training in deal evaluation, due diligence, and personal branding gave me practical frameworks I could immediately apply to my future outreach and networking efforts. One piece of feedback would be to incorporate time at the end of the cohort for members to present and review their investment theses with peers or program administrators. Overall, GoingVC provided a solid foundation for someone like me looking to break into venture capital.
The GoingVC Education Program is comprehensive and sources excellent talent for lectures. Many of the speakers are open to continued connection including mentorship. GoingVC has been a very useful resource for expanding my knowledge and gaining hands-on experience in the venture capital ecosystem. As part of the Investor Program, I co-authored a healthcare transparency investment thesis and was deeply supported by the Program Manager, Dan, throughout the process via Office Hours and helpful examples. In addition, I've sourced and reviewed deals through the Investor Program and that has been integral to shifting my thought patterns to reflect the mindset of a VC professional. Overall, I highly recommend the program.
I really like GoingVC because it’s a lifetime membership, which means I can always come back and continue learning. Work gets busy, and it’s easy to fall behind or lose track of certain topics, so having the ability to revisit past webinars or rewatch sessions I didn’t fully understand at the time has been incredibly helpful. What I especially appreciate is that the program grows with you. Even after getting a role at one of the top VC accelerators, Techstars, I still find myself coming back to GoingVC to refresh my thinking, deepen my understanding, and stay sharp on fundamentals. It’s not just a course you “finish”, it’s a resource you can rely on throughout your career in venture.
GoingVC is a really great program for anyone interested in a wide ranging primer on venture capital. They brought in a ton of current practitioners to give color to the topics each week. In my experience, hearing the guest speakers were more valuable than many traditional MBA courses due to their relevance as it pertains to the industry.Additionally, GoingVC offers students the ability to join the GVC Fund, giving real world, hands on experience as a venture analyst. This was a personal highlight of mine! All in all, I'd highly recommend this course to anyone interested.
1) The curriculum is fantastic. The instructors are very knowledgeable and the AMAs with guest speakers are always packed with info. 2) The Investor Program was the most valuable for me. There's a phrase in VC of "doing the job before you have the job". This often means aspiring VC partners attend networking events and say they are sourcing for several VCs but do not have a formal affiliation. This can cause some confusion with founders. Being a venture partner in the Investor Program gave me the confidence to go to networking events and meet founders. It also provided experience in writing investment memos and pitching to the IC. It was also helpful to see a variety of deals across different verticals rather than just a single vertical like health tech. Because GoingVC Partners is an angel syndicate, one of the potential downsides is that the syndicate may not always invest in a deal in a given cycle, so it's hard to point to investments you worked on when applying to FT roles unless you stay for multiple cycles. 3) Awesome network. The program has many years under its belt. VC is about relationships, and it's very helpful to be able to tap into that network, particularly if doing diligence in an area where you are less familiar. 4) You get what you put into it. The program is very flexible, which was important as I was also working a FT job. The consequence of that is you need to be able to clearly convey what you did and the experience gained when applying for roles.
GoingVC is an excellent program for aspiring VCs, current investors, and people who are involved with or want to support startups. It goes beyond other programs I’ve taken by offering much more hands-on, "sticky" ways to really learn and internalize the concepts. The content felt directly applicable to how I think about companies and markets. The instructors were very thoughtfully chosen and are real operators and investors actively working in these spaces. They shared both the fundamentals and the lessons they’ve picked up from their own careers, which made the sessions feel grounded and practical instead of theoretical. Their perspectives and stories made the material easier to connect with. The biggest value add for me was the focus on building an investment thesis. I walked away with a much clearer framework for how to think critically about different areas, what makes a vertical actually investable, and how to articulate that in a structured way. This has materially improved how I evaluate opportunities. The community is also a huge part of the experience. Being surrounded by motivated, thoughtful people who care about startups and venture has been incredibly valuable, both during the program and afterward. It feels like a network I can continue to learn from and collaborate with over time.
