Review Time
Easy to figure out and has a great user experience. I've used it as an author and as a reader. I'd give it one more star but sometimes the site is glitchy and needs an update or two.Other than that, their customer service is SO prompt and kind!
In my experience, GoodReads is not user-friendly, and the website has crashed multiple times.By now, GoodReads should have updated the site where only your newest book cover will be shown, not multiple book covers shelved for the same book.GoodReads has a lot of trolls who purposely give fake ratings on your books. My books had high ratings; then all of a sudden, I found a bunch of one-star ratings on my books. I did report this to GoodReads, but they won't do anything about it. If you’re an indie author, please be aware of this.
I just noticed that Good reads has all of your reviews and comments on every book on google, this is a major breech of my privacy, as I do not want the whole world to see my private reading and comments. This is not good enough and I have emailed them to take them down.
I find Goodreads to be basically a good site. One can have friends that one can easily communicate with. One can update some of one's books. But there are so many faults. They do not like one to read more than a very few books at once. Previously one could update all the books one was reading. But somebody new must have been put in charge and that person will not permit updates of more than a few books. This person apparently himself//herself only reads at most a very few books at once and wishes to enforce his or her view on everybody else. Also, some people "like" one's reviews when one hasn't written them yet! The truth is that they have liked one's updates. But many people like one's updates and it says that they like one's updates. Very strange. I've written to Goodreads several times and asked them to fix this mistake. But they won't. Or else they can't. Under any circumstances, it's extremely frustrating. Because when it says that people have liked one's review before one has written it, then when one has written and posted a review one doesn't know if they actually have read it or not. It says one has, but that was before it was written. So have they read it, or not? Goodreads apparently don't understand that this is a problem or else they don't care, don't want to get things right.Goodreads could be a great site, if they were only willing to correct their mistakes.
I have a mobile account via the Good Reads App and need to change my email address. However, I can't find a way to do this, which is incredibly frustrating. Also, I've compared the mobile account on the App to the the account on my PC and the menus on my mobile account are very limited. I started writing a review on my mobile which was apparently saved. However when I came to finish it later, l couldn't find a menu heading for saved draft reviews. Really annoying!
Hello fellow bookworms,I recently had a troubling experience with Goodreads. When I try to log in, I receive an error message that "There was a problem. We cannot find an account with that email address." I was able to log in yesterday without any problems, so I am not sure why this is happening, so I submitted a contact formI received an email from Goodreads support informing me that my account had been deleted. However, I did not request this deletion and was shocked to find out that all of my valuable data and connections on the platform were gone.I reached out to Goodreads support for help, but they informed me that once data has been deleted, it cannot be restored. This is very concerning to me, as I had invested a lot of time and effort into building my account and connecting with fellow book lovers.I am writing this post to caution other Goodreads users to be aware of this issue and to ensure that their accounts are secure. It is also a plea to Goodreads to take a more proactive approach to prevent accidental deletion of user accounts and to offer more support to users who have been affected by this issue.Has anyone else experienced a similar issue with Goodreads?Michelle NormanFounder of AnimalsEvent.com
Horrible! The app has serious security issues and I deleted my profile. I keep getting spam emails from Goodreads and I unsubscribe every time, but to no avail. They keep spamming me. Serious warning if you don’t like being bombarded with unwanted email: have nothing to do with this app!
Thought this was a good site, allowing you to keep track of the books you have read, set reading goals for yourself, even see what friends are reading.Unfortunately, quickly found the site shares your information on a massive scale. A few days after signing up, I saw a huge influx of spam and scam messages being sent to me e-mail address.Been reporting and blocking these messages for a 2 weeks now, and there seems to be no end to it. Definatel has to be this site, as there are no other new sites I've joined in the past few months.
I actually created the account on GoodReads years ago and back then it was working just fine. I had a one single ebook on the platform for more than 3 years now. Intending to generate more content in that direction, I intended to also come back to GoodReads. Turned out, that is impossible.First of all, I was not able to log in into my account. This is obviously not a new issue, since people have been complaining about this problem for years. Several, not just me. Not just one or two. I've found discussions with no solution that go back years. Btw... the ebook is still out there, so my account still seems to exist.Secondly, Goodreads actually confuses users by offering to log in with other accounts, but asking for email address and password with various of them instead of actually using active account, while also not clearly separating the options.Thirdly, I have taken notes and know my account email address and password exactly. I did not get an error that I tried to often, but got the error right from the beginning. Also, I barely ever connect platforms for logins. Be it as it may, I tried both most likely options. None of the two worked. With both I get errors, that the credentials are not correct. Now, trying to recover the password for the email address login, I actually receive the recovery link. But next the page is not working. The browser says, no permission to access the reset page!Trying the same with Amazon instead, the login is still not possible. I do receive the confirmation code and the reset link as well. On the other hand, I'm being asked if I want to connect the accounts after reset. So, an additional sign that this is not the way I used it back then. What's even worse is, the password reset did actually work. But instead of resetting the password for GoodReads, actually the password for Amazon has been reset, which I didn't even want to reset! Btw... even after the reset I was NOT able to log in. Also, do we really need GoodReads to reset our Amazon password? I don't!If all this was not enough, the support was absolutely horrible. For example, while I've explained details of trying to recover the password, as well as that I have my credentials and know they are correct AND about receiving the emails and links, the first answer literally told me to try to recover the password! So, essentially the support already starts out with ignoring what I say and wasting time instead of helping. Sadly, this continues all the way. Whatever you say is being ignored and they just demand. So, who's supporting and solving issues? Me or them? Funny enough, after resetting my Amazon instead of the GoodReads password they also stated, that they can't see a password change. Really? What a coincidence! Not only that. They are also rude and Marcela tells me, that I MUST provide screenshots, instead of asking nicely. As if I were their slave and had nothing better to do then waste my time for problems they cause. Seems like support neither knows how customer SERVICE works, nor what SUPPORT means! Also, there is no solution. You won't get ANY help. Just repetition of useless monolog and statements. The most interesting question is probably, if it is worth the trouble. And given everything they have done for me with my ebook in the past 3 year... which is literally NOTHING... I'd say... better off leaving GoodReads be and go somewhere else. Because this is definitely not worth it. Even less so if they can't even make basic functionality work.Sadly, this is the mentality of developers these days and in surveys you can read, that 90% (90k out of 100k asked) prefer to release it with and correct errors later. Resulting in users fighting errors all day, instead of being productive and getting their work done. This is not new to me. I'm looking back at 30 years IT experience and I am web developer myself. What's going on with development these days is just horrible. I get stuff like that every single day. No wonder companies ask constantly for professional and skilled developers, not THIS. But obviously they don't wanna pay them?Take notice that good reviews are primarily before 2020, while bad reviews pile up since 2020 with few earlier. There is your heading and trend!Be it as it may. Your choice, GoodReads. We are through. Probably your intention the entire time. One less thing to worry about. You fail your users? This is what happens. They leave the sinking ship! Goodbye GoodReads. Not like there is no other platform out there these days. Good luck! You'll need it ;)
