A mixed experience at Greendale.

I visited Greendale today, and there were many Christmas treats beautifully arranged. Unfortunately, the fish and chips we ordered were disappointing; the fish was small but acceptable. The chips, however, were overcooked and seemed to have been reheated, likely frozen. Maybe we just happened to visit at an unfortunate time.☹️

A mixed visit to Greendale

I went to Greendale today and found a lot of festive items nicely displayed. Unfortunately, the fish and chips we ordered were quite disappointing; the fish was relatively small but edible. The chips, however, were dry and appeared to be reheated, likely frozen. Perhaps we were just unfortunate with our timing.☹️

Order issues with delivery

I have always enjoyed the fish and chips, but tonight we decided to have them delivered. They arrived lukewarm, and one meal was missing, along with the pigs in blankets from the specials menu. When I called to report this, I was offered either a replacement or a refund. I chose to have the meal delivered, and was told we would receive the missing items along with something extra for the trouble. However, we waited over an hour, and the extra pigs in blankets were not included! We were informed that if we ordered the same meals again, they would be complimentary, but I'm unsure how that will be arranged since I received no code or written confirmation.

Disappointing experience

The experience was quite disappointing! It was very noisy, the frozen cakes were defrosted and not homemade, and the coffee was cold. The farm shop felt more like a regular supermarket.

Disappointing portion sizes

I had the adults cod and chips, and I had to complain about the size of the cod. They apologized and replaced it, but I received another small piece. The chips were good but the portion was small, and at £12.25, I felt let down. The wait was long, and there was no seating!

Exceptional service from Cieran

My wife and I visited the restaurant at Greendale three weeks ago. It was quite busy and we hadn’t made a reservation, but Cieran, who was in charge that morning, managed to accommodate us. He ensured we were seated and served promptly. The food was excellent, and the service was top-notch, all thanks to Cieran's positive attitude. Thank you!

Average dining experience

The venue and location are nice. I met friends for lunch this time, and it was just okay. Prices have increased and the portion sizes were small. The fishcakes were tiny on a small bed of salad. Service was good since it was a weekday and not busy, but the meals didn’t offer great value for the money. The washroom facilities were satisfactory.

Mixed feelings about the shop

I really like the shop and have been a customer for years. Today, I decided to have a coffee—an Americano for £3.40 with cold oat milk. When I went to pay, I was charged an extra 75p for the oat milk, which felt excessive. It’s not a large amount, but no one likes feeling overcharged, even for small things.

Service needs improvement

The service was lacking, and paying felt like a chore. Table service is standard, and while the waiter was polite, he forgot to take our order, leaving us waiting for 20 minutes. When another waiter came, we finally placed our order, which was reasonable in wait time. The tea, coffee, and tea cakes were good, but the butter was minimal and hard. It was busy, but that’s not unusual. Paying was poorly organized, with a long line at the cash desk; pay-at-table wasn't available, even though portable card machines were visible. I saw a group leave the queue in frustration. This experience wasn’t bad enough to deter us from returning, but staff need to be more proactive in addressing issues.

Chaotic dining experience

I love the shopping area, and the butcher's meats are excellent. It's unfortunate that the dining experience is lacking. I should have known better than to order anything with chips, as they are consistently soggy and often cold. This is because the chips are taken from the fish and chip bar in the store and brought to the kitchen, which can lead to delays. We were also incorrectly charged for two meals that weren’t part of our order (£19.50 extra). Overall, the dining experience was quite chaotic.
