Review Time
My son had his assessment about 12 to 13 weeks ago, and we were informed that the diagnosis would take 6 to 8 weeks. We are still waiting, despite sending multiple emails inquiring about the outcome, only to receive responses that they will pass it on to the manager.
My daughter's initial assessment was canceled at the last minute because the clinician was sick, which upset her significantly. After a new appointment was arranged, the session seemed to go well, but there has been no follow-up care since. I was informed the report would take 4-6 weeks, but it has now been over 2 months with no updates. I've emailed multiple times without a response. This service has been very disappointing due to the lack of clear timelines.
My son has been waiting for assessment for a year, and today we had a video assessment at home, which was comforting. I felt safe sharing my concerns about his needs. The representative was friendly and explained everything clearly. My son also had his part the next day and was at ease in his own environment. I felt heard and believe he will receive the help he needs.
I felt invalidated throughout the process, as the only questions directed at me were unrelated and made me feel childish. Many conclusions in my report were based on my parents' memories, which I find unreliable. I left feeling confused, especially since I was discharged without any further support, despite experiencing high levels of anxiety and depression.
My son's report contained numerous spelling mistakes and poor communication, presenting a skewed view of his situation. For instance, it inaccurately stated that he doesn't smile or comfort others, which I can easily refute with evidence. It seems the assessment process prioritizes funding over accurate reporting.
After waiting nearly 2 years with another service, I received an email offering an assessment through a new platform. Although I was anxious about video calls, I was reassured by the significantly shorter wait times. The consultants were attentive during our sessions, and the process from October to January was smooth, culminating in the diagnosis we anticipated. The follow-up session was also helpful, addressing all our questions. We are relieved to finally have clarity.
My daughter spent only 40 minutes with the clinician, while I dedicated an hour to the parent assessment. It's hard to believe sufficient information could be gathered in such a short time. Others have had comprehensive assessments lasting hours. The lack of thoroughness is alarming, and I've been compelled to seek private help due to the shortcomings of this service.
The experience was awful, with serious errors in the report. After numerous stressful calls, they acknowledged the mistakes but have not communicated since. My complaint is supposedly with their governance team, but I haven't received any updates despite being referred to them a month ago.
