My recent experience with Hilton Grand Vacations Club Anderson Ocean Myrtle Beach was extremely disappointing and unfortunately left me with a very negative impression of both the property and how Hilton Grand Vacations handles customer situations.
First, the condition of the property itself was not what I expected from a Hilton-affiliated resort. The hotel appeared worn and run down in several areas, and the surrounding location did not feel particularly safe. This was surprising given how the property and vacation package were presented.
However, the most troubling part of my experience involved how Hilton Grand Vacations handled a personal emergency. During my stay, my dog became seriously ill, which required me to immediately arrange a flight home. As a pet owner, this was a stressful and urgent situation.
When I contacted Hilton Grand Vacations to explain the circumstances, I was hoping for understanding, flexibility, or at least some reasonable accommodation given the emergency. Instead, I was told there were no options available and that I would still be charged $199 for the vacation package, despite having to leave unexpectedly and despite the additional travel costs I had already incurred to get to Myrtle Beach.
The interaction felt extremely rigid and transactional. For a brand that promotes hospitality and guest experience, I expected a level of empathy and customer care that simply was not demonstrated.
Many of my colleagues have always spoken highly of the Hilton brand, which made this experience even more disappointing. Situations like this are when a hospitality company has the opportunity to demonstrate its values.
Unfortunately, this experience has left me with a bitter impression of Hilton Grand Vacations and the way guest concerns are handled during genuine emergencies. I sincerely hope Hilton reviews how situations like this are managed so that future guests are treated with greater compassion and flexibility.

I was convinced to pay for a few nights in Vegas, only to be obligated to attend a presentation. Interactions with their call centers have been exhausting, with representatives pressuring me into bookings. I empathize with the staff, but the lack of customer support is glaring. Don't fall into the same trap I did!
I was convinced to pay for a few nights in Vegas, only to be subjected to a pitch by a vacation company. Since then, my conversations with their call centers have been incredibly draining. The representatives seem trained to push for reservations, even when customers aren't ready. I sympathize with the employees, but the customer service is nonexistent. Don't get caught in the same trap I did!
I was sold a $200 all-inclusive 3-night stay at a hotel of my choice. Fully refundable, or so I thought. It turned out I was obligated to attend a lengthy timeshare presentation, needed to bring my spouse, and the offer was actually non-refundable. They lure you in with a fake trip, and canceling is nearly impossible. After many phone calls and hours spent, I only got back $180. I lost $20 and wasted about 10 hours of my life on this scam. Don't be fooled!
In 2003, I bought a membership that was once flexible but has since become a poor investment. I've received conflicting information about using my points, and my travel plans have been disrupted. I strongly advise against buying a timeshare. I plan to sell mine this year.
Avoid this option. I made a regrettable decision by buying a limited lease with points I can't use. Their website shows no availability for my desired locations, with only a few places open, which I don't want to visit. Now, I have to pay $250 to carry over unused points. I've spoken to employees who said I was sold an inadequate package. I won't be buying more points. This has been a terrible experience.
After a timeshare tour, I signed up for an 18-month trial package. Despite a hefty down payment and monthly fees, I've been unable to use my points at any properties. The points required for stays are exorbitant, far exceeding what I have. When I inquired, I was told it was peak season, which is questionable. I've spent over $2000 in eight months for a package that offers no real value. It's clear this is a scam, and they won't return my calls or refund my money.
A representative sold me a $200 trip to Miami, promising great perks. However, when I tried to book, I was informed it would require an additional $200, which felt like a down payment. Frustrated, I canceled. Later, when attempting to book again, I was told I needed my spouse present, and despite my payment, it was non-refundable and non-transferable. I understand this was in the contract, but it left me with a sour taste regarding this company's practices.
While the properties are nice and staff friendly, the initial cost is high, and annual fees for using points have become outrageous. Attempts to save unused points have resulted in fees exceeding their value. I strongly advise against buying properties from this company; it feels like a continuous scam that drains you every year.
