A Plus Movers in CT were hired to load my storage container. They were late, unprepared and unprofessional upon arrival. All documented in real time. I had to insist that they use the protective blankets that I PROVIDED because they were damaging my inventory as they were moving my items into the storage container. They loaded the POD poorly resulting in over $4000 worth of damage, discovered after my POD was delivered and unloaded by very good movers I hired. This included a complete loss of my $3000 mattress. After providing all the photos of the damage, including how the container was loaded, I was offered $200 for my loss. The cap for the basic coverage for damage is $1000. The claims department refuses to provide the max protection. This is my third moving company I hired through HireAHelper in three years. I would not use their services again and I would not recommend them. UPDATE: HireAHelper claims representatives have lowered their offer to reimburse me for damages from $200 to $155, and said the offer was final. I have filed a claim with the Better Business Bureau.

Mid-day I had an agreement with HireAHelper for services to be performed three days later at a specific date and time. I received their confirmation emails. Later that same day I received an email 'requesting' a time change so the company can 'accommodate your move.' I only had a narrow window of time that would work for me and I declined the request.

5:00 a.m. the next day, my credit card was charged for the move. Later that same morning HireAHelper called me to again request the scheduling change. I declined because of my time requirements. They found another company for my time frame, at a higher price and offered some help towards the cost difference but did not cover the entire difference.

It wasn't a 'request' for a change. It was a notification that they were canceling my job.

HireAHelper helped us to find the most amazing movers we could've asked for! HireAHelper.com referred us to "Tip Top Movers" and owner Marc Perez could not have been professional or helpful!!!! Marc and his helper (also named Mark) arrived at our location at precisely the time scheduled and were ready to get right to work! Our move day unfortunately brought some of the worst downpour rain with it but Marc & Mark took it in stride! The joked and laughed throughout the entire move, all the time battling downpouring rain and cold temperatures. I can't express enough how impressed I was with "Tip Top Movers" with their professionalism and level of work ethic!!!!! I will be calling Tip Top Movers for all of my move/labor needs and highly recommend them to anyone else looking for labor or move help in the Raleigh/Durham NC area (I believe they provide services in a very wide footprint of North Carolina, so even if you do not live in Raleigh/Durham, it will be well worth your time if you give Marc Perez of Tip Top Movers a call to see if he can help, regardless where in NC you live)! Of course, I would have never found Marc or Tip Top Movers if it hadn't been for HireAHelper.com, whom were also very easy to speak with and the entire process of scheduling our move was so simple! Definitely a 10-star review and another very happy customer!

So many great things that this group did. First, PODS would not give me the 3 hour window until 6pm the night before. I had HireAHelper booked at 1pm and was not sure that my POD would arrive. HireAHelper told me that they would work with me. They did. Then my POD came and the door was jammed due to shifting contents. I was sure that we would have to wait to unload. It took a bit but Alex and Anthony got the door just open enough so Anthony could wiggle into the POD to fix the jam.
They were so nice and pleasant. Customer service is everything and these men did a great job. I plan to request them for part 2 of our move.

Such a great customer service. They gave me the best deal in the area without me lifting a finger. There was an issue that came up during my move and we had to reschedule. HireAHelper accommodated and really made things easier and simple for us.

I scheduled two movers for a 2-hour job starting between 12–1 PM. I prepaid $225.99 for that service.

At 12:17 PM on move day, I was notified they were delayed due to a previous job running long. I was told arrival would be closer to 4 PM. Because of this delay, I had to send home additional helpers I had already arranged and paid.

Before agreeing to proceed, I clearly asked via text whether an adjustment could be made for the delay and whether they could stay a little longer if needed. I stated I was willing to pay the same as originally agreed. I did not authorize expanded billing beyond that.

The movers ultimately completed the job the following morning due to the prior delay. During a phone call initiated at the end of service, I was told the job totaled 6 hours and was presented with charges exceeding $700. I disputed this immediately and asked for an itemized invoice before agreeing to anything further.

I never received a revised itemized invoice reflecting the promised adjustments before additional charges were processed. I was later informed that two additional hours had been charged based on alleged authorization, which I dispute. I stated I might consider a partial compromise pending documentation. That documentation was never provided before billing.

The core issue is not that the movers worked hard. They did. The issue is that:
• The delay was caused by scheduling practices outside my control.
• I made decisions based on representations that adjustments would be made.
• Promised credits (including truck-related reimbursement discussed during service) were not reflected.
• Additional hours were processed despite the dispute remaining unresolved.

Customers should not be pressured into on-the-spot billing decisions inside their homes before they have the opportunity to review written documentation.

I would strongly recommend that HireAHelper:
1. Provide written, itemized invoices before processing disputed charges.
2. Clarify in writing when additional hours are billable versus offered as accommodation.
3. Improve scheduling practices so one customer is not financially impacted by another customer extending time.

This experience created unnecessary financial and emotional stress during an already difficult move.
