Well that was rather straightforward! After receiving a voucher for my birthday I thought I'd test it out for a single night's stay. The price came to less than the voucher meaning I haven't paid a penny and still have credit left over!
I had a very disappointing experience with Hotelgift.
I paid £224.99 for a one-night stay booked through their platform. After the stay, the hotel provided an invoice showing the actual accommodation cost was £143.45. When I queried this large difference, Hotelgift explained that their price was the “lowest available to them” and refused any refund or goodwill gesture.
As a large booking platform, I was surprised to learn they could not secure a rate even close to the hotel’s own price. While fees were technically shown during booking, the scale of the markup only became clear afterwards, which felt misleading and poor value for money.
This booking was intended as a gift, and the situation left a sour note on what should have been a positive experience. Based on this, I would not use Hotelgift again and would not recommend them to others.
I was skeptical at first because I had never heard of this site before. But it was very easy to make a reservation and use my gift card. I look forward to the stay in Charlotte and watching the pro basketball game right across the street from the hotel. Thanks for everything.
My mum was given a voucher which she couldn't use within the expiry period due to illness and extensive treatment required. I contacted Hotel.gift to ask for an extension of the voucher (it had only just expired) based on these circumstances but they refused saying that once the expiry is reached, the purchase is forfeited. I know everyone has expiry dates on vouchers but some leniency could be shown in extenuating circumstances. It also goes again Australian consumer laws which require vouchers to have a minimum 3 year expiry. I would not recommend this company or use them again.
Avoid at all costs. Disappointing experience. They did not honor our AU $400 gift voucher just hours after it expired. The customer service was absolutely terrible, relying entirely on AI responses. They claim to follow strict two-year expiration policies to be 'fair and consistent,' showing no consideration for exceptional situations or the three-year minimum expiry rule in Australia as per local regulations. This is completely unreasonable. Protect your money.
