Our Charity organization was insured by Intact for 16 years with no claims and each year there was an increase in premiums. Last year we had a claim for ice damage to the eavestrough. The estimate ($6000.00) by the Intact approved roof inspector was twice the amount of a local contractor. We chose our own local contractor and the settlement offered at 1/2 their their own estimate. The next renewal cost was increased considerably. We were told by the broker that this is standard practice with a claim. So much for due diligence for 16 years and then one $3000 claim.
Terrible experience with Intact Insurance after my car accident. The adjuster was unprofessional and avoided my calls. Other staff were rude and dismissive. They sent a cheque to the repair shop without my consent and did not cover all the damages to my vehicle. Very poor communication and unacceptable service. I would not recommend Intact Insurance
I only marked one star because I couldn't choose zero.After decades of paying home insurance, we made a claim because of a leaking roof. The company is now refusing to help, saying it's because something was done wrong when roofing was done. I guess we're all supposed to be roofing experts and inspect it with our amazing knowledge. This company is a waste of money.
Extremely disappointing experience. I contacted the insurer before any suspension to make payment by credit card after my bank account on file was no longer active. I notified them, provided my card, and clearly tried to pay.They refused to take payment and repeatedly said “nothing can be done, we must wait for the bank.” Then the policy was suspended — and suddenly they were willing to take payment, but only with a reinstatement fee.We did everything right and were still penalized. This feels like a setup to charge extra fees. Very unfair practice. I would not recommend.
Absolutely disgraceful! My brother in law passed away in an accident 7 months ago and the emails and calls are dodged by multiple employees when we want to speak about the death benefits that he’s parents have to receive! 7 months!!!! A life is lost a young man and they don’t care about what family goes through! Disgusting
The will not answer phones even the automated service doesn’t work you can’t select a department. If you can find anyone they put you on hold I have been waiting several hours each day for the last three days. It’s like a wind up. Don’t have anything to do with them if you have any sense.
As a member of an outbound subrogation team, I have never witnessed such a blatant mishandling of a claim as I have during my experience with this company. After receiving communications from one adjuster in October of 2025, I was put in contact with the assigned PD adjuster. To date (1/14/26), I have not received a single correspondence from said adjuster, despite multiple escalations to her supervisor, who has also chosen not to respond. Additionally, having lodged two complaints with their complaint department, the only individual that continues to communicate with me is the injury adjuster that reached out back in October. The purpose of this review is to (hopefully) reach anyone that might be considering doing business with Intact insurance, as I strongly advise that you avoid them at all costs.
After my truck was in for repairs some part came in damaged so the so the shop had to get some news one but the parts were on back order so my truck was drive able the way it was so I took the rental back then the parts came in so I book the date for the rest of the repairs to be done the the insurance company calls me and tells me they are not covering the rental I asked why I have 3000 rental coverage and I wasn’t the cause of the accident so why are you not covering that the insurance company cause you took it to a different company we don’t work with so we can not force them to fix it faster how can you force anyone to fix it if the part are on back order from the manufacturer all ready called my broker and told them I do not want to renew with intact and for them to find a new company
