Many years of IL monthly magazine, various daily blogs, several downloads of longer features, couple of free books. All in all, entertaining and informative real-life information. LOTS of beach life, perfect climates, explorations; occasional views of downsides. Big on LONGFORM promotion pieces about their many direct or affiliate services -- endless repetition of lots of details. (Magazine inserts of 8 pages about side hustle workshops.) Online versions bottomless scrolling. Rather minimal production values on website and video announcements. Maybe 70/30: real editorial content / product promos through various channels. Lot of pushing to upgrade, Lifetime etc. My bias > (retiree, low income): more on exploratory travel, less on acquiring property, cut the fluff.
I subscribed over two years ago and have found each issue worth reading (even about the places I may never visit). The information covers many facets of living overseas that I never considered. I find the articles to be very detailed and helpful. When I do move, I know I will be better prepared with IL's help.
My husband and I have been readers of your publications for several years, and have attended a boot camp held here in the US (boot camps bring all overseas options North Americans might be interested in), and a focused seminar held in Ecuador (provided very detailed information on Ecuador and Colombia). We have met such nice people from all over the US and Canada, all looking to best spend their retirement dollars and “sense.” While International Living is in the business of selling information, they also bring in the other people you may need: lawyers, realtors, insurance brokers, etc. But they can’t emphasize enough to also do your own research. They only want to provide options; we need to do our due diligence. I’d recommend their publications, and especially their in person or now virtual presentations.
I have been a subscriber to IL for many years. Some time ago I was teased with a "lifetime" membership, which I purchased. While I have purchased several other lifetime memberships (mostly financial or travel related), IL is the ONLY one that charges an additional annual "handling" fee - all the others were a one-time fee that covers everything I need for the rest of my life. Personally, I think it is shameful.
I’ve been a subscriber of International Living since the very beginning and have continued getting their magazine ever since. The articles are very informative. I’ve also stayed at the Chateau de Courtomer, which has an ad in the monthly issue, with my family and it was awesome. In fact, we’re returning there again next year. Being a subscriber of International Living, you will receive information from around the world on places to visit.
International Living has been my first choice when searching for information about countries I wish to travel to, whether it be for a vacation or the possibility of sometime living in another country.Over the years, I have been a subscriber to many different products offered by IL. My wife and I attended a IL conference in Cancun a number of years ago and the wealth of information available at these conferences is absolutely unequal from any other source. If you are interested in travel for whatever reason, I highly recommend IL as your most valuable resource.
